If possible can we also post what # we are/were on the waitlist as well when get off.
I am just dying to know what # I am (Mississippi doesn't release this info). It may be helpful to just see how far down the list the schools are!

i got a phone call from cornell on friday 4/11 in the afternoon (OOS) 😀

15 out-of-state people admitted so far have declined, and Mississippi over-invites by about 20 I think, so just a few more people and the list will start rolling =)

I know some of the SC-contract admitted also declined, because 2 more SC residents were offered contract seats the other day.

Has anybody heard whether or not Cornell has filled its in state portion of the class yet?
 
Is anyone here (who's currently waitlisted) on the verge of a meltdown?

Jeez, this f*cking holding pattern is driving me up a f*cking tree!!!

Being waitlisted or "an alternate" or whatever nice word they want to call it SUCKS BECAUSE YOUR LIFE IS STILL ON HOLD AND YOU CAN'T COMMIT TO ANYTHING AND YOU CAN'T PLAN FOR THE FUTURE BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE ANY INFORMATION!!!!

Sorry, I'm just frustrated to the nth degree. Rant over. That felt good. I need a cigarette.

Well, at least we have a little entertainment with the thread on the annoying cat...

I hope we all get in and retain our sanity in the process.
 
I got in at Auburn after being an alternate. I got a phone call on friday!!! I was very shocked that I got a call before the 15th deadline. So sometimes you don't have to wait til the deadline.

I just sent an email declining my oos spot at Penn. I hope this helps someone else.🙂
 
Oh man! April 15th is closing in so soon. And I know that you had to inform them if you accept by that time (at least for Illinois). Soooo, hopefully I get a happy call in the next couple days. Plus, the 15th is my birthday so how awesome would that be? lol :hardy:
 
I got in off of the VMRCVM waitlist last week...fortunately for someone else, OOS slots in the UT, Iowa, and (so sadly) MN class of 2012 will open up. Godo luck to whomever takes my place!

sousamagic, are you OOS or IS? I was very generously granted a one year deferral to NCSU (THANK YOU NCSU!!!) and I'm curious if you filled that spot (I'm OOS), it would be really cool to know who got it! 🙂

I also just declined my OOS spot at mississippi, and will be declining my OOS waitlist spot at Iowa, so there are some more for everyone! Good luck all!
 
Our Dean just updated us on the KSU waitlist, for anyone who's wondering: 98 people are confirmed for our class of 2012, which leaves 10 spots open.

Mail hasn't arrived today, but 40 people have been offered spots and have not responded.

Therefore, max of ten people will be accepted off the waitlist (I guess). No idea in-state or out of state.

WAITING!!! All we do is WAIT! It's like Disney World- hurry up and wait! Hurry and get your schools decided on so you know what pre-reqs to do. Hurry and do your pre-reqs so you can hurry and apply. When you apply then you just WAIT. THEN when we find out we're good but not "good enough" to get IN right away, we wait LONER. Arrrrrrrr! Just venting... 🙂

Yeah but the best part of the waiting, is the way they build you up with interview invites, then make you wait some more, then knock you down, then make you wait (potentially all summer!!) for the snowball's-chance-in-hell that you might still get in as an alternate! Woo! Yeaaah!

I'm gonna duct-tape my cellphone to my head (after setting it to vibrate of course), just so I don't miss an early-am call...

Then, call in sick with the bubonic plague. That should get me off of work for a week.

Why do I have this funny feeling I'm going to move to Boston at the end of July, only to get a phone call from Iowa telling me I'm accepted?! That would be really aggravating, yet completely awesome at the same time! :laugh:

I asked how MN contacts those who move from waitlisted to accepted and it is via phone.

btw, one of our graduating seniors is doing a lab animal residency at Penn--I take it you're still interested in lab animal?

I just spoke with someone in the admissions office at UF and she told me that we (meaning UF alternates) can expect to hear news by the end of this month. I guess they go through and call people they haven't heard from to make sure that something didn't get lost in the mail. I guess if it were me I would want them to do that. She also told me that UFs waitlist is small this year (only about 7 or 8) and they are anticipating accepting all of them. Should I be getting excited??

This might be a stupid question, but if they call you and you don't answer, do they hold your spot or do they move on and you lose your spot? It seems like common sense that they would still hold your spot...hence the stupid question part. I just can't keep my phone on me at all times, so I just wanted to make sure 😳

I know for Iowa, once they call you, you have 3 days to respond. Don't know other schools' policy on this issue, though. Just contact the school and ask.
 
Aww, thanks guys! You'll be the second ones to hear (after me!) if anything happens...although I'm not expecting anything too soon. Most likely late April -early May
