I just wanted to thank everybody for their help and advice before I go off to Duke (leaving in about 10 minutes). I really do appreciate it! I hate naming names, because I always forget someone, but sar520 and Original have been great about Duke, Omores is being great about looking after me while I'm down there, and SMW has passed on a pile of great sites to me to help me get ready... So, thanks everyone!

I'll try and find a computer while I'm down there to check SDN, but if not, I'll see you next week! 😀

brandonite,

Best of luck to you! Knock their socks off! 🙂

Hey I'm sure you'll get in! and I'm usually de@d accurate with these predictions too 🙂

I'm sure you'll wow 'em, brandonite!! 😀 🙂 😀

Did Brandonite ever wind up getting a suit...I missed the end of that thread.

Just bumping, so we can all think of brandonite, sitting in the waiting room in the Purple Zone. He should be starting right about . . . . now.

bumping up the canadian guy in Durham, NC. I'm certain he's kicking @ss as I speak.

yeah, right about now he's finishing lunch with the med students and starting his interviews or the tour....

Ok, everyone now, send good vibes out...

g'luck you buddy, as you can tell we're all thinking of ya

hope the day went well!

Good as his word, he was letting everyone know about the timetable for notifications. What a guy!!! 😎

I read SDN from the Duke admissions office before/between my interviews, but I didn't post. I guess I'm not the rockstar brandonite is. 🙂

No doubt you'll be hearing from Brandonite himself soon enough, but I can report that he looked smashing in his green suit -- it was a very classy dark bluish-green; not the least bit lime. He did wear a tie, too, although he removed it for post-interview Pacificos at the Cosmic Cantina.

🙂 😛 🙂

awww, this thread is so sweet! Brandonite, I hope your interview went well (I'm SURE it did!)

I hope that your interview went well  Aren't the Duke people wonderful? I'm really impressed that you were thoughtful enough to post from the admissions office! I don't post that often, but I want to say that I really appreciate all the advice/information that you and everybody has provided in this forum. Thanks!!! Good luck, brandonite and everybody else that interviewed 🙂 I'm going to have to wait until my decision shows up online because I'll be out of town, away from my phone and my mailbox. UGH! the suspense...

Hehe. I'm touched by all the attention. 😀

I went with the green suit. There was another guy in green there, so I didn't stand out. And I didn't look like I was at a funeral, which is always a positive.

I got the capital of Australia, and the president of South Africa. I made decent guesses at the first (started off at Sydney, went to Perth, Brisbane, and Melbourne in that order before giving up). Then, I couldn't name the former name of Zimbabwe (Rhodesia anybody?), or the current prez of South Africa (told him Nelson Mandela was the former prez, don't know if that got me points or not). Then, like I said in the other thread, he ended the interview halfway through after five wrong answers in a row, so I'm not thinking that's a good sign.

Anyway, I posted this all in the other thread. Thanks, y'all for the support (I'm in the South! ).

Wow, were you at an interview for med school or a try-out for Jeapardy?

Hope you had some fun...

OH MY GOD! you must have had my interviewer! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! was he small and from africa and very stern? all i have to say is that if you kept a pleasant demeanor you probably did fine, as i definitely didn't know A LOT of the answers to the questions i was asked and it worked out ok for me. i thought my experience was a fluke, i REALLY didn't think most people ended up having to go through that! seriously, don't worry too much - i was soooo feeling stressed/inadequate after i left that interview (ask original!) and it was for nothing 🙂 !

Hey Brandonite make sure you eat as much grits and cornbread as you can before you fly back to Canada. I'm glad at least one of your interviews went well. I'm sorry you got that guy. Hopefully he was thinking "leave now before I change my mind" . In anycase, I'm sure you did awesome relatively. Those questions are straight out of a lizard's @ss. Yes sar520 was interviewed by the same guy. She was so stressed for nothing, to the point that she ended up losing her folder and accidentally stealing mine 😀 --(j/k)

Well, after getting up at 4 AM this morning, I am finally home. Whew. Again, thanks to everybody!

He interviewed four of us, yesterday. Apparently he was grumbling to the last interviewer that he wasn't supposed to interview Friday, so maybe that's why he wasn't too happy. Who knows?? Anyway, I still think that if he had've liked me, he would've wanted to keep on going past five minutes. But my beta interview went well, so I suppose I can be happy about that...

And Original, I found the South to be very confusing... I could never understand anything anybody was saying! I've never been in the South before, so the accent was really tough for me to pick up... Oh well...

Anyway, got my fingers crossed for Friday... 😀

•••••I definitely agree. The same thing happened to me when I first got here. I was sure it wasn't my fault too 😀 . But in less than 3 weeks I regained my hearing 😀 . But the South is the only place to be in the U.S. People take their time more, and it has a much better standard & cost of living as well. Friday! I'm hoping it works out. Hopefully it will, then I'll definitely be partying on this end.
