So it is finals week at my school and because of the blizzard-like storm that is coming through today and tomorrow they have closed the campus for today. I am glad my finals do not start until Wednesday so that they will hopefully not get pushed back. Anyone else experiencing a nice snow storm? Good Luck on finals everyone!! Let it Snow!!!

We're only getting flurries for right now 🙁, i'm hoping for some blizzards this year though (i'm a snowboarder)! Granted, it snows so often around here that my school has only closed once in the past 15 years for it, during my freshman year.

We're getting quite a bit of rain here and snow up at Bear Mtn.... stoked to ski next week 😀

I woke up to flurries today, but I'm hoping the snow waits until Friday so my finals don't get pushed back as well. I'm super excited to go skiing ASAP!

Actually, on the gulf coast of Texas, where we have three seasons if we're lucky and Winter is a week or two of "It's going to be chilly out today", we've already gotten snow this year. Didn't stick, or even snow for very long, but it definitely snowed.

i wish my school would close for a snow storm. but, its against school policy for the university to close unless Michigan is declared to be in a state of emergency.. unlikely anytime soon 😛

though we frequently get multiple feet of snow in a night. yay

Snow?! What is that?! My campus closed for a day and a half for a tropical storm just a few weeks ago, though.

🙁Doesn't snow much in Alabama

Be thankful. At my school in upstate new york last year it snowed EVERY DAY (and i mean that without exaggeration) for two and a half weeks straight. It was horrible. Snow is only magical the first day and before the cars make it dirty and ugly. It is also only beautiful when it doesnt ice up so your car veers off the road into a tree.

Have I mentioned I applied to many southern schools? haha

It's more than 60 degrees F warmer inside my house than outside right now. And it's chilly in my house. I can has a warm?

No more sneaux, plz.

Ok. Since it is going to be snowing non-stop for the next couple of days...I made a snowman with my roomies. I will post some pictures in just a few minutes of Fernando the Snowman.

Boo snow!!!! 😡

I hate winter and everything to do with it! I want to be sitting in shorts and a tank top on Christmas day!

See, I would rather deal with the cold than the hot. You can always put on more layers, but you can't take more off. 😛

Here, inside the Washington, D.C., Beltway, we got a little bit of snow but also some rain, and it was warm enough that not much snow stuck. We get humid, icky summers and winters are usually half-grassed, with more mud than snow most years. I'll take the snow over 35*, rainy, and muddy! The Wonder Pony, who NEVER gets hoof abscesses, got an abscess last week. 🙁

Yes only the first day is cool and then it is just annoying. I am supposed to leave on Thursday to go to Phoenix. But I have a feeling my car will be all sorts of stuck. Oh well. I am not a huge snow fan, but I felt like I might as well have fun with it. And I have to say that is one decent snowman for a bunch of college students from Phoenix and Southern California building it. The first time I tried to build a snowman (my freshman year) he ended up being maybe a foot tall..it was definetly harder than I thought it would be.

I'm so sick of snow already.

Me, too--and we only got the first "real" snow last night! We're now in a nice blizzard watch with 11-12 inches of snow expected by Wednesday... and then more on Wednesday 🙁.

👍

You've got to love an Arizona blizzard! 😀

Too bad I'm stuck in Phoenix where it's just wet and people freak out a forget how to drive because there's water falling from the sky! Normal people call this raining...

P.S. I have friends up where you are and their finals are getting postponed. I must say I'm a little jealous because I'm super swamped at the moment!

Ya. The finals are postponed until next semester. You can either take the grade you have now or take an incomplete and take the final the first week of next semester. I love peoples' reactions to rain in Phoenix..they act like a miracle has just occured. Good Luck on your finals!!! :luck:

On the California coast, it hasn't snowed in about 200 years. We did get a lot of rain today though, which is WONDERFUL since we've been in a drought the past few years. I wish my house had more windows so I could watch the downpour...

The hell I can't!
Let's see you take off enough clothes to be comfortable when it's 90*+ and 80% humidity! Even if I shaved my head and walked around in the nude I think I'd still be hot.

Its 20 F out here right now and it is cold!!! On my way out of the shelter I thought about kitties we are taking in soon that I know are living outside... So tough.

So, freezing temps, yes... No snow or precipitation expected, though, which is a good thing, as I have a hard time getting to work otherwise. I do love snow, though! Stay safe and warm, everyone.

I live 20 minutes east of SF, at about 300 ft elevation, and woke up to snow this morning. Benicia, a port not too far from SF, had snow too. Do you live in So. Cal? or very north?

Here in Montana its 15 below and that's without factoring in the wind chill. I don't even want to consider what kind of weather it would take for them to cancel classes. A couple weeks ago we got almost 2 feet of snow within a 24 hour period and we still had class. Everyday I ask myself what I was thinking when I decided I wanted to go to school in Montana! Seriously, I hear Arizona is lovely this time of year!

Agreed!

I'm so sick of snow already. It snowed yesterday, today, and is supposed to continue most of the week.

Would you rather be sitting on a beach drinking rum?😉

It snowed saturday and it was fun and magical because I was home all day! Of course, monday morning when the stuff starts to melt, NO ONE in NJ knows how to drive on ice/snow/anything thats not 100% dry & bright... so accidents everywhere, delays, etc. People are stupid.

More sleet/snow/rain (caca!) on the way tonight.

Haha, 80% humidity is a break! I live in NW Florida or "lower Alabama" as we call it and it is hell. Literally walking from the house to the mailbox has you dripping in sweat during the summer. I like the cold but I realized after 2 years in New England that snow isn't all I thought it was. I'm pleased with the weather right now though, it's been in the 60s. I like it better when I can put on a sweatshirt though.

We had our first snow storm Sunday morning. I had to walk to work in it because the city buses don't run on Sundays 🙁

It's pretty and everything, but when you rely on your own two feet to get you most places, it kinda sucks.

Well, duh! Who wouldn't prefer a beach + rum?

I know what you mean about people not knowing how to drive in it...New Hamp isn't so bad, but NY/Long Island is TERRIBLE

Arizona is lovely this time of year. Even in the northern parts. We might get a few really good snow storms but for the most part it is not too bad. Arizona ranges from a few hundred feet to 12,000 feet at the top of the San Francisco Peaks. I am currently living at 7,000 feet. So you can pick during this time of year. If you want to see snow for a day drive for 2 hours, play in the snow, and then head back down to Phoenix where it is 60. It is really nice. The "blizzard" has moved on through now and is heading up to those living in Iowa and the Great Lakes area. Have fun with it!!

I think all of the schools I am going to apply to, besides my in-state school, have awesome snowy winters. I moved to the Pacific Northwest for undergrad, and every winter I've been missing snow hardcore (besides last winter, when we had our freak snowstorm). I mean, there are some pretty good snowy mountains nearby, but I really miss having snow outside my front door.
It makes me depressed not having a good winter.

Kinda sounds like my fellow Chicagoans! LOL! People in Chicago totally just forget how to drive when anything falls out of the sky.

Oh and Canis13 I agree. I love my snowy winters I actually think I'd be sad without them. Been in Illinois my whole life so it's really "my kind of town" weather wise.

Weirdo. 😱 The thought itself makes me feel woozy. :scared:

LOL. I too lived in Miami and Orlando and wore Jeans in the summer. Sometimes sweaters too. In fact this summer I wore a jacket outside at night in Nicaragua! Now I'm in Louisiana (where it did snow on Friday night) and my friends think I'm weird when I show up to school wearing 4 layers of clothes and gloves when it's in the 50s! I'm totally used to 100*F and 100% humidity. And yes, I would much rather be hot than cold. At least I can jump into a pool or the ocean 😀

Not while cleaning stalls or riding, though (although I love riding in the river). 50's, that's t-shirt weather if I'm so much as walking around. One sweater if I'm sitting still.

Snow Day here. All classes canceled after 1 pm. I'm sad, though becuase my Dairy Cattle Technology Lab was the only one canceled for me and we were palpating cows today! GRRRR...But more time to study for finals, I guess...

Figure I would see how the SDNers in California are doing with this winter storm. I left Flagstaff to get out of the snow (supposed to get up to five feet of snow). NAU campus was closed today and tomorrow due to the snow which is supposed to be continuous until Saturday. The entire state of Arizona is in some form of weather alert (blizzard, flood, wind, even a tornado warning was issued at one point). It is predicted that there will be 7 inches of rain in the Phoenix-area; which is nothing compared to most places but since the yearly average of rain here is 3 inches; that is double what we are used to. Flash flooding is also a major concern here; the creek near my house is normally empty but today it is completely filled and about to overflow. So, how are the rest of you doing with weather? Anything crazy going on anywhere else? I know CA is getting all of this weather before us so how is the weather treating you? I am so glad to see the desert here getting all of this rain; it is much needed and a great break from the sun! Hope everyone else is staying safe, dry and warm. 🙂

ETA: Tornado actually touced down at a mall here in the valley. Hope everyone else is staying safe!!

im on the east coast and we only have snow/rain...which probably means rain lol so im hoping it will freeze to a huge sheet of ice, but the temp isn't that cold 🙁 so yayy looking forward to work tomorrow! haha

I have to fly tomorrow morning in this frikkin weather. At least National Airport always seems to be warmer than surrounding areas. It's supposed to be almost exactly the same in Iowa, too -- grey, 30's, wintery mix turning to rain.

With as cold as it is, it outta snow outside! But, alas, it's just rain...

It SORT of snowed yesterday but it only stuck in VERY select places and todays rain melted it all way. CURSE YOU RAIN.

I like snow. I'm weird 😛

We had a sand storm followed by rain the other day. At least snow and rain leave the area relatively clean when it dries. Mud falling from the sky just makes more work for everyone.
