Hey Guys, this is done every year, might as well keep up the tradition. Scores are out for people who took the exam on/before 5/29, the June scores will probably be out shortly. I guess, just add your score and maybe how well you did on some of the common qbanks...or whatever you want too.

COMLEX Step I: 547

Kaplan COMLEX qbank: 70%ish
Kaplan USMLE qbank: 40-50%ish

are they reported by month, or does someone who took it at the beginning of June get their scores before someone who took it at the end of June?

The scores are released a chunck at a time. Every from Jan-Mar got theirs mid-March. From Mar-May 29th was released last week. I would assume from May29-June/July will be released within a few weeks or so.

Statistics for the exam:
Pass=400
Nat'l Mean=500, Std. dev. 79
So I guess with normal distribution, a 579 is 85%tile and a 658 is 97.5%tile. But who knows for sure how they grade these crazy tests. All I know is passed and did a little better than the mean and for that I'm glad. I thought it was such a long day...

C'mon Guys, dont be shy. Put your score down so that others can be encouraged about passing and so they know how well the qbanks predict scores. I know I benefited from this from previous years. No one is here to judge, we're in this together....

Passed COMLEX Step I with a 618.
Kaplan Comlex Qbank: 74%

Much better than I thought and better than predicted by the mock test that LECOM gave us. The news out of LECOM that I have heard so far is that everybody is above a 500 with a high of 752. There are a few people in the 700's, but that 752 is just ridiculous! Good luck to the rest of you out there.

COMLEX three-digit: 674

COMLEX Qbank: 80% only completed ~ 40%
USMLE Qbank: 69% completed 100% (scoring in the upper 70's towards the end)
USMLE World: 67% completed ~80%

Still waiting on those USMLE scores, hopefully I'll know in about a week!

Another LECOM-Erie student here. I feel like a bum reporting my score, but I guess it will just have to do. It seems to me that a) the LECOM mock boards were much more difficult than the real deal and b) we might be one of the highest scoring classes to walk through. In any case:

UWorld: 60% (Completed 70%)
Q Bank USMLE: 72% (Completed 80%)
Q Bank COMLEX: 83% (Completed 100%)--->Easiest of all banks, but actually had numerous word for word q's on the actual exam.
COMLEX Score: 600

That's what we have been hearing. LECOM-Erie kicked butt I guess...no one below 500 and a few in the 700's?? WOW, nice work. I have been hearing some good things out here at CCOM but not that high.

take my COMLEX on tuesday, a little stressed, but seeing these numbers make me feel good.
I am in the 60-70% for qbank usmle
and 75-85% avg comlex q bank
so I hope I can get up in the upper 500's to 600! that would be sweet.

Your med building has to be one of the ugliest I have ever seen but guess it is a good school! LOL
UNECOMer here and I was in ERIE winter of 2005 duck hunting presque isle state park with my med school buddy who lives in Erie, and he showed me the school.

On the NBOME site it says we will be told our scores in 4 weeks, are you saying some people had to wait 2 1/2 months? Boo! I took it June 4th and am going crazy, they better not make me wait until mid-Aug! How long did everyone here have to wait?

This is pathetic guys. Only like 10 people posted scores. It really helps those taking the exam to hear qbanks scores and actual scores to correlate. And encouragement to know they can pass. I know not everyone has taken it, but a lot have...

Only the people who took their test before May 29th have got their scores . I took it June 4th and Im still waiting. But there's plenty of info on this site already and if you search then you will know alot about the test and what your chances are.

Still waiting for my USMLE scores

Overall I am very happy with my score. First of all I want to thank God for getting me into med school and then for helping me do well in it.
Most of my studying was for the USMLE and I added in Savarese (which covered most if not all my OMM questions). I thought the test was really pretty easy compared to the questions I had done on Usmleworld. I honestly think I could have passed by 1) knowing Micro made rid simple 2)Lange pharm cards 3) Goljan. And by that I mean just going through them 1 time and trying to understand each one. Although I wouldnt recommend it.

Im going to write up a much more detailed description of how I did it when I get my USMLE scores in. But overall I thought comlex was easy compared to USMLE. The questions were very straight foward and not very tricky. There were plenty of questions I did not know though. If I had known all the Q's I would have a 746 instead of a 646 .But I still did well Im very happy with my score.
I can tell you one thing that will almost guarantee you a better score would be this website(SDN). I became obsessed with checking it at least 1 time every few days for about 9 months before my test. The advice on what to use and what not to use along with what topics to concentrate on (COMLEX and USMLE) added tons of points to my score. I became an expert on how to study for boards to the point that several of my friends from MD schools were calling me for advice. These are the same people who scored 5 points above me on MCAT. And the same people who I most likely will beat on USMLE.
So if you are an upcoming 2nd year looking to do well then I would suggest looking up the advice from people like: Idiopathic, Nrosigh, lord_jeebus, cherrypie, Long Dong, Big Frank, cd1998, stinger86, Along with anyone else that posts high/super High Scores. Take their advice and copy and past it into a folder and look at it when ever you want to know what to do. Pay special attention to the person's MCAT score with their USMLE/COMLEX score. If someone has a 27 MCAT and a 250 usmle/700 comlex then their advice might be better than a 37 MCAT and 250 USMLE. Since you know this person probably had to study better and work harder to get that score.
So to get the good score you must put in a lot of organized effort, know and understand the information, and know the test itself. But If you want it bad enough it defiantly could be done.

COMLEX QBANK: 75%
USMLEWORLD: 68%

Actual COMLEX: 725

I predominantly used Kaplan as it was offered to us, although for path I used Goljian since he had been my copilot from the beginning. I was actually surprised to hear something other than him come out of my car stereo on my drive home from the test. I also thought that the layout of Kaplan micro was hideous, so I went with Ridiculously Simple instead. I used First Aid more of a syllabus than something to study from. I studied a couple of hours per day starting in January, then kicked it up to 10-14 hours per day for the last 6 weeks. That's about it. Congratulations to everyone that has passed and good luck to those of you still waiting!

usmleworld - 67%
Basically studied for USMLE, took a few days break and took the COMLEX. Probably would have scored the same if I took it several months earlier.

COMLEX: 669/94
USMLE: 245/99

usmle world - 67% (started in low 50s ended in the 70s)
kaplan Q bank - I quit using that piece of s**t after about 100 questions

Comlex - 651/93
USMLE - 242/99

I basically studied for the usmle and then studied savarese for 2 days. The people who didnt take the time to work through the savarese book really did themselves a disservice. I cant think of one OMM or anatomy question I didnt know thanks to that book. Usmleworld is the bomb and the comlex seemed like a joke after working through those questions. Outside of first aid I would say micro made simple and goljan rapid review book were essentials, I never messed with the goljan audio. I was suprised by the # of random questions I got right because of the goljan path book. Alot of good stuff in there. There was a suprising amount of immuno on my test too so I would advise future COMLEX takers to not blow that off. I have heard about some other CCOMers that have done well and I know of 1 for sure who broke 700. I am willing to bet there were a few more.

How many DO schools are there in the country? I always figured it was considerably fewer than allopathic schools, but this board makes me think otherwise.

20 Osteopathic medical schools with 3 branches= 23 total. At about 150 student/class, I guess about 3500 students taking COMLEX in a given year.

Only took Comlex: 571/87
Qbank Comlex: ~75% (did 100% of questions; agree with previous poster about many questions being very similar to actual comlex)

Review materials: friend (kept me motivated and accountable with my study time), brs physiology (library copy), brs pathology (library copy), first aid usmle 2006, brs pharm - flash cards (VERY concise info, not too busy), rapid review- micro & immuno, kaplan comlex qbank (only purchased 1mo access at the end, they gave me add'l 2wk free, 6wk total), gold standard CDs (library copy, not too incredibly helpful, glad I didn't fork out the money to buy them)

Review format: heavily question-based for everything (our advisor said that one thing students wish they would have done more of after-the-fact is questions and I agree), focused ~99% of pharm study on brs flashcards, about half of the questions were worked out in group study 🙂

so you score really high on your complex, whats that mean in terms of your DO residencies and stuff? of course it means you got a good shot to get what you want, but are there DO residencies that are as competitive as derm/plastics where you need to kill the complex? i imagine that the allopathic residencies wouldn't care much about your complex scores if you're going the allopathic route. enlighten me...

yup....just as there are a limited # of spots in allo neurosurg/derm/ent/optho/etc....those spots are generally limited in a proportional fashion in the DO world and go to the cream of the crop

and about the allo residencies caring about a solid comlex score....its not a black & white issue...its regional, specialty and hospital specific...ie Penn's PM&R program has taken PCOM grads w/ only a good comlex score....but you couldn't say the same for other specialties at Penn....a high USMLE would almost certainly be necessary

Comlex: 623/ 91 woohoo! I've been freaking out checking my scores everyday just hoping I passed.

I didnt use qbank but USMLEworld scores were high 50's- mid 60's, ocasional 70's.

So I guess I can celebrate tonight, then freak out some more until USMLE scores are in.

congrats...only 2 more days til usmle scores are in!.....I just missed the cut-off for this round of comlex scores so I guess I have to wait 2 more weeks for that...sux

Also, several competetive allopathic residencies are considering COMLEX scores alone, even without an USMLE score. For example, the AOA announced Stanford now accepts COMLEX scores. I have been told the Cleveland Clinic and Johns Hopkins also do. Apparently Mayo clinic is close to this as well. The AOA has been adament about getting competetive allopathic programs to consider the COMLEX without USMLE scores...so says their website!! So good COMLEX scores will help on either the osteopathic or allopathic route for the most part.

Kaplan COMLEX qbank: ~71%

I used qbank, FA and a few review books. Not a superstar score, but I'm not doing anything too competitive and I am oh so glad it's over.

UW: finished around 50%, low 70s on random sets of 50 towards the end (I think what you are getting at the end of your qbank is more indicative of how you are going to do than your overall score.)
COMLEX: 660/93
USMLE: N/A

About allopathic residencies, I have heard that some of the more open-minded residencies will also consider a COMLEX score if a percentile rank/standard deviation is provided, especially if you score well.

COMLEX Score: 717/97
Finished COMLEX and USMLE QBank
Got about 70-80% correct on the USMLE QBank and in the 80s for COMLEX QBank.

Studied: Goljan, Goljan, Goljan, first aid, Goljan's notes, Dr. White's Road Map for Neuro, and Goljan some more.

Word of advice for next year, the more you freak out over this test the worse off you are.

because i have no idea.....what exactly is a bad (Fam Med), ok (IM), good (Surgery), great (ortho), and awesome (Derm/Plastics) COMLEX score? I got my score back and have no idea what the heII it means. I fall somewhere between the two above. thx🙄

And please don't get pissed and PM me with I got a 7000 on my COMLEX and am doing FP. I know there are people out their that fall out of these categories, these are just how I classify the competitiveness in my mind.

Thought that I would be the first to bite at posting both scores:

q Bank- around 75% finished with around 80% at the end
COMLEX- 637/92
USMLE- 240/99

I thought that both exams were pretty similar, but obviously each one is weighted differently. (I.E. pharm/micro huge on COMLEX and biostats/cell and molecular huge on USMLE)

Three and a half weeks for COMLEX and four for USMLE.

COMLEX: 586/88
USLME: 230/96

It just amazes me how high people's scores on SDN are.....I guess that just shows that only the people with good scores post. Bottom line, I'm happy with my scores and now it's time for a few cold ones!
