Can't we all just be happy for one another, as well as sympathetic/empathetic toward one another? She's not running around, saying how much better she is than everyone. Plus, I totally understand how that could be frustrating - 5 interviews in 9 days? Travel is tiring, having to put some sort of "best face" forward pretty much every other day... that's just annoying. And for those who don't have interviews yet? It's AUGUST 1. It's okay not to have interviews until later.

No. We must be cutthroat.

Rar.

Why didn't you space them out a bit more? Did they not give you a choice about the date?

Thanks, laina. 🙂 Yeah, I was just responding to copingmethods comment about the spacing of interviews. Like I said, I am really, really grateful, but I should have spaced them out more. Anyways, Texas runs about 1 month earlier than AMCAS schools. By the way, good luck on your Texas interviews, laina!

I think you misunderstood my post. I am not saying that she is wrong for being happy. What I meant to say is that there is a time and place for everything. I understand the travel thing, and I try to be sympathetic/empathetic to everyone on the site. There are too many factors - MCAT, residency, etc. - to take into account why someone gets faster interviews. I do know it is very early, but it is those kinds of posts that can drive people crazy.

Little cowgirl, you must be new around town. Howdy. But see, we don't take kindly to compassion around these parts here, no sir. At first signs, we generally take it out behind the ol' wagon and shoot it dead. Bang, bang. Ain't really never taken two shots, but I wanted to add some of that you folk call emphasis. But see, it's strange. That wagon wheel is sounding awfully screechy. Why don't you come back here and help me with it. Come on back, no need to be shy.

Yeehaw!

They do drive people crazy, but I don't think they should. I mean, if people can be worried and frustrated about not having gotten any interviews (BY AUGUST 1), why can't someone be worried about 9 interviews in 5 days? That's way stressful! I don't think she phrased her comment in any kind of condescending or better-than-everyone (guh, so bad at words) kind of way, so I don't think people should get grumpy at her about it. She even said how super-rad and lucky she feels for even being in such a position! It's all relative - one could even say that pre-meds without interviews have no right to complain because at least they've got two arms, two legs, food, and a roof over their head. There's always someone worse off than you! I think that as long as people are respectful toward others and don't put them down in the process of making complaints from privileged positions, it's cool. Just my $.02 😀

True story 😛 A girl can dream, can't she? (No, not around here. We hate dreams here at SDN)

Thanks! Good luck to you, too 😀

We actually also shoot dreams behind the wagon.

It's a multipurpose wagon. 🙂

ooh, my first flame war...how exciting 🙄
Alls I'm saying is that I should have been smarter about scheduling interviews. Didn't mean to be condescending or boastful in any way.
Carry on!

I just realized I have 5 interviews in the span of 9 days. Don't get me wrong, I am so, SO grateful, but wow, this is going to be tiring. 🙂

That's pretty intense - I hope they're all within driving distance at least! Congratulations! 🙂

Are you really comparing applying to med school to a quadruple amputation (although, maybe not a terrible analogy 😀)?

I am sure that she did not mean anything, and I don't want to appear the bad guy here. However, this is SDN. Most people on here, including myself, are average students who could only wish for 5 interview in 9 months. Claiming 5 in 9 days, while impressive, does seem a bit snooty, don't you think?

I do wish the OP good luck in her interviews, along with everyone else who has received one.

So I have to ask. Do you like the Cubs or the Sox? And, though you may mean well, I cannot accept "I'm a Chicago fan" as an answer.

Well, sort of. I am flying out to one of them and then have to be on the opposite side of the state the next day. I am really excited! Congrats to you, too, you are interviewing at awesome schools.

I am of the new breed. I am a Cubs fan, but I do not wish the Sox to lose every game (just when they play the Cubs 😀). If you look at my mdapps, you can see that I am a vendor at baseball games. Its hard to root against a team when their success equals your own.

I completely agree. I don't hate the sox or anything any more than any other team that plays the Cubs on a given occasion.

But good choice. How about that sweep eh?

Dude, how is stating that I'm an idiot for scheduling interviews the way I did "snooty"? I'm not sure what you mean by me "claiming" it, anyone can see on the invite list or my mdapps. Should I not have listed it there? I think you're being over-sensitive here, and if you go back and read my initial post, I wasn't boasting of the fact.

Ok, can you guys drop the argument please? I'm all for a good old-fashioned online flame war, but every time someone posts on this thread I get a little nervous, so if you're gonna keep fighting, can you do it somewhere else?

Ugh this process is driving me a bit mad...

I concur. :scared:

I did not say you were boasting in the original post. I said that I felt it might have been at the wrong place/wrong time. Of course anyone can look at your mdapps, but that doesn't mean they will. It is more likely that they will see the post. Also, I NEVER said that you were an idiot.

I apologize. I will take this to a safer place.

I concur. Shemarty rocks. Without her initiative and organization, we'd just be posting willy-nilly. It would be useless chaos!

I hope you aren't serious... shemarty's organization of the secondary threads and all her other contributions far outweigh yours or anyone elses. I would stop attacking her organizational skills.

AND I like it better this way.

I am quite serious. The original format was superior to the current one even if it was somewhat unwieldy. I am not saying she hasnt contributed a large amount of help to organizing this year's threads, I am saying that she can go overboard. Anyways format change is permanent, ill deal with it.

Carlin, did you get an actual E-mail invite from Pitt today? On a Sunday, crazy!

Congrats though!!!!

And Mishka, congrats on Ohio State, did you get an e-mail or check via status page?

I am quite serious. The original format was superior to the current one even if it was somewhat unwieldy. I am not saying she hasnt contributed a large amount of help to organizing this year's threads, I am saying that she can go overboard. Anyways format change is permanent, ill deal with it.

How dare she decide how to organize a thread that she started without prompt in a way that she finds intuitive? She should have consulted us first. The only pity here is that she can't be fired from SDN and exiled to some stony island where she would be forced to survive off of moss.

But I guess we've got what we've got. In my endless beneficence, I will deign to allow this thread to continue to exist with only intermittent smatterings of reproach on its inferior style.

Do we get to pick the island? How about Monte Cristo or St. Helena?

(Shemarty, your design is clear and concise. I could not ask for more (without being ridiculous)).
