Outside of saying in your PS that it was your dream school, thus turning off every other school, it's all a crapshoot I think.

I am applying for the second consecutive year and am hoping for better luck! I applied to 18 schools last year (still didn't get rejected from BU and waitlisted at UNE), so this year I'm only applying to BU, Tufts, and UNE.

Hopefully this post-bac will do the trick 🙂

Did you guys check and make sure you have all the prereqs? Schools can sometimes have extra prereqs.
 
Yeah I had all of the pre reqs and a few more recommended courses... No idea.
I did have a minor misdemeanor that happened nine years ago but I doubt that would've been the issue.

Did you clarify what "matter" means 😀. It does matter, it's been relayed here many, many times. Now, if there was something else that was stellar/standout on your app it might not have mattered, but for the every day Joe applying, it does.
 
I started panicking about why I haven't heard back from MWU yet... I re-reviewed my app to see that I met their pre-reqs, and sat scared ****less thinking I'd get rejected..... then I remembered I missed first batch :$ this entire process is going to drive me to need anti-anxiety meds....
 
@PINKEROC, if you don't mind me asking, did they ask you to fill out their supp app/fee before the rejection?

Dang. I am missing a recommendation for midwestern. I have three from professors and one from a dentist in a committee review, but they appear to require two from non-professors.

Well it says one MUST be from a professor, while the others are PREFERENTIALLY a dentist or someone who could testify your integrity or ethical standards...
(so maybe another professor can count as this as long as they testify your integrity)

Did anyone who got an interview have the same sort of rec letters? (1 dentist, the rest professors?)
 
How long did you all wait after submitting the supplemental for Midwestern-AZ before getting an interview invite?

I had one dentist

Two science professors and one from my PI who may or may not be considered science I'll let them decide.

Submitted supplemental right when I got it which was like the 26?
 
Hi I am a dentist from India with a masters degree (MDS) in Endodontics. My scores however haven't been great in either BDS or MDS. I scored an aggregate of 55.75 in BDS and 60 in MDS (minimum pass marks being 50 in both). I passed both BDS & MDS without any attempts.I have one year experience as a consultant endodontist since my PG got over and have been a senior lecturer since March 2015. I also have done a 2 week certificate course in current concepts in american dentistry from NYU, New York. I am not sure about the GPA scenario and I have a feeling based on my marks my GPA won't be good. I think it will somewhere around 2 for BDS & 2.3 for MDS. I am planning on taking NBDE part I in 3 months but is it really worth it or is my GPA going to ruin my chances of getting accepted into any dental school there? I took TOEFL in March 2014 and score 102 in it.

Please let me know your views on this. I would appreciate any and every advice I get from you guys. Thanks a lot!

That's rough bud.. Have you done any extra curriculars such as shadowing, volunteering, or work at a dentist office before??
I would NOT have expected to see you get rejected... that baffles me

Could you tell me what science and what score? They told me my QR and OC WAS TOO LOW WITH 16 and 18 respectively.

Yes, I had over a 100 hours of dental shadowing/assisting as well as military experience, I was an officer in the U.S. Army, and had done a fair amount of volunteer work. Lots of other stuff as well. I was surprised as well, so I called them. I had a very minor misdemeanor, or at least my advisor and I thought it would be minor, that happened nine years ago, that I listed I listed on my application that was dismissed. They said that was the only reason they rejected me.

It was for impersonating a police officer using a couple blue keychain lights while driving. It happened just after I had turned eighteen. It sounds worse than it was unfortunately. But I was never convicted, it was dismissed.

I was going to suggest that this was probably the problem. Sorry to hear that, you seem like a stellar applicant. I know that Midwestern asks the question "have you ever been charged with a misdemeanor or felony" when signing up for an account. On the actual supplemental application however, they only ask whether you have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor. Since your charge was dismissed, you should have said no on the supplemental form itself. I know that doesn't help you now, but if anyone else sees this, I hope this will help.

School admissions are not typically well-versed in the subtle nuances of misdemeanors vs. felonies vs. infractions. That's why they clarify that they want to know about any convictions other than minor traffic violations (infractions). If your charge was dismissed, then you were not convicted though you were technically charged.

Because AADSAS only asks about convictions, I hope that you did not list the misdemeanor on your AADSAS form. If you didn't, I think you're going to get into a lot of schools! 🙂

I e-submitted over two weeks ago and have heard from most of the schools I've applied to about supplementary apps/fees, but I haven't heard from Rutgers, Temple or NOVA. Should I be concerned if NOVA sends out invitations for interviews soon? Has anyone else heard from NOVA?

I e-sumbitted on the 22nd of June and I have not heard from NOVA.
 
Reminding people to check MWU portal if they have t heard anything. Like I said earlier I was invited to an intern and yet I still haven't got an email or update on aadsas

Where exactly did you see that you had an interview? What part of the portal would show that?
