Thank you very much! 🙂
I interviewed on January 8th. Technically, I'm still waiting to hear back from USC (waitlisted) and Western University (no response), however UCLA is my first choice!

My gpa is a 3.3 overall and 3.01 science/2.97 bcp. DAT 19/19 for AA/TS. 22 PAT 21 RC and 17 QR..

However I did a post bac semester so my new gpa is probably slightly higher. I am also a reapplicant.

You're lucky dude (or dudette). I have similar scores as you and did a complete Masters with a near 4.0GPA and 19AA. Am sad to report, I am not getting any interview invites so far.

I feel very disappointed! just got my 5th rejection from MWU-IL without an interview. I lost hope already :'( 3rd year applicant, 3.2 GPA, 19 DAT. I am hopeless at this point 🙁

Have you done a post-bacc or SMP to repair your GPA?
It seems the main problem you have is your GPA.
I highly recommend repairing your GPA if you haven't done so

Keep your head up!!! I'm a reapplicant with similar stats! I did one post bac semester and got two additional interviews. I believe in you!!!!

Thank you! I'm very grateful. Stay positive, this process can really get tough

Don't give up....have known some dentist that took 4-6 years. I would suggest improving that DAT score. The DAT average keeps going up and up every year. I would only be comfortable with a 22+. It is possible with less but I know more people that were accepted with more than accepted with less.

In the ADEA book it seems the average for accepted applicants is around 20. Almost everyone I know that has been excepted this cycle got between an 18 and 22, with most of them being 19 or 20. A 19 is still a good score as long as you are a well rounded applicant. Of course this is all IMO.

There might be something in your application that might stand out as a "reject". I would try and get your application reviewed by someone, maybe at a health professions office/advisor if you have acces? I know some schools don't allow people to use a DAT score after a certain amount of time. I would certainly see if you can maybe do more community service pertaining to dentistry (volunteer at an under-represented clinic). Maybe re-evaluate your personal statement. You should be getting interviews. I think there might be something in your application that might be turning schools off, and I don't think it's your GPA or DAT scores. Hopefully you've been applying during June when it opens.

What are you EC's? Or are you an alien from a different Jupiter?
Nothing particularly special.. I have a lot of research and volunteer hours I suppose. A paper I served as co-author on recently got published in a Nature subsidiary.

I got those two recent offers (Pitt and Columbia) after I sent in my academic update, of which I had my best semester (3.75 ogpa, 3.7 sgpa) so that might have helped if I was on the bubble!

Listen, don't lose hope yet. It's still only january and who knows you might receive good news in the next month or so.
This process is becoming more and more competitive each year.

I'm in the same boat. I have had zero interviews for the 3rd year of applying. This cycle I applied to 25 schools. My DAT is 19AA no scores lower than 17 and highest is 22. Completed a Masters in Science with a near 4.0 GPA and have tons and tons and tons of experience, shadowing, and publications as an author.

I've spoken to admissions and any advice they've given I have worked on and the following cycle seems they pick something else so it's a little disappointing to hear someone say it is because of A and you fix A and after paying money you get told it's B and then you fix B and then the next cycle it was because of C.

I think you shouldn't give up and be proactive by contacting schools. You have qualifications to receive interviews.
Best of luck for you.

I have taken 40+ credits as a post-bacc and it raised my GPA slightly. This cycle is the cycle that shows improvement in my GPA. Also, this is the second time that I take the DAT. Should I take it again? Start a master's degree?

Keep your head up!!! I'm a reapplicant with similar stats! I did one post bac semester and got two additional interviews. I believe in you!!!!
Thanks 😀 I took 3 semesters of post-bacc. I hope they notive this!

I agree with you! I will take it again if I don't get anything still. It will be my 3rd time taking it. I just hope they see the improvement from the first test!

I agree with you! However, when I applied the 1st time, I got so many interviews and I was accepted into Colorado Dental School. I had to reject it for major family emergency. So with more improvement since then, I don't see how I could have something that stands out! I will still double check it if I apply again. I also applied in July. I think that is still early in the cycle.

You are describing what I am going through right now. I just wish they give us a chance to explain how committed we are to education and how much we love dentistry. I guess hope and patience is what will get us there! Keep trying! 🙂

I thought the highest possible score in TS is 29 but 30 in PAT, Math, and RC!

30 is possible in every section except for one of the science sections. I have no idea why the DAT is set up that way but the highest possible Bio/OC/GC combo is always 30/30/29 (not necessarily in that order).

Rejection: UTHSC

They sent me an email a while back asking about my course requirements and I never answered it because I heard bad things about the school. Probably should have just withdrawn...or not applied in the first place.

How long did it take you to hear from Columbia ?

They claim they can't withdraw applications! I did and then I got a rejection.
