Scheduling permit link disappeared today. I took mine on May 17. But I think it's because my eligibility expired since its July 1st now

I've never felt so awful walking out of a test in my life. I'll be happy with a 192 at this point, I just never want to see that exam again.

For what's it worth, I felt the same way coming out of my exam. Ended up in the low 250s.

Anecdotally, it's a good feeling to have. It means you recognize how difficult the exam really is. People who walk out feeling "okay" tend to do the worst. Just have faith in your practice test results and try to do things that keep your mind off the long, miserable wait... And congrats on being done with the damned thing!

I felt and KNEW that I did horrible. I could count an upward of 20 qs that I missed and I'm sure there are many, many more. I am hoping it turns out better than I think.

I know that feel. Basic things I knew and should know... I just failed. I feel like I went full potato and don't deserve to be a physician.

That's a harsh statement. It's only a test, an important one, but at the end, it's still a test. We all put in the hard work, and we all deserve to become physicians.

Can I have the kitty in your picture to cuddle with after my test plz

took the step today! honestly I feel really mixed about it. there were some questions that were definitely really easy but there were also so many that I just wasn't sure about. Of course I have already counted a couple stupid mistakes that I am kicking myself in the butt for. I personally thought some of those questions were much harder than UWorld and NBME. Just my personal opinion. At this point I am just hoping I passed the exam because right now it feels like I could have gotten a 50% on that thing lol. I also felt like I knew sketchy in and out yet somehow that did pretty much nothing for me in micro haha. guess time will tell.

Arent there a certain number of experimental questions on each exam that don't count towards your score?

Why are you still sober? Go CELEBRATE. It's done and dusted.
I'm not sober. I'm drunk and playing Dianlo after having some Chinese food and watching No Reservations. Aside from the uncertainty, life is good. I'll work on my noose tying skills just in case tho lol, cause srsly, I can't handle this debt without a pass.

I took the exam yesterday, and I agree it was hard as hell. I thought the USMLE was more challenging than Uworld, however I think its because UWorld asks about many of the same things over and over again, such as asking about Turner syndrome 8 different ways. I really don't like how the FRED software the USMLE uses doesn't have an intermediate text size between small and medium. Medium text size was too big and small was too tiny. Hopefully everyone did well.

I will say that UW was very good preparation for the format and time- the questions felt UW length and I had more than enough time to contemplate just how little I knew.

Well.... I walked out feeling "okay" about it, so hopefully that isn't true haha. That being said, I did think it was tough, and I think the reason I walked out feeling "okay" about it is because my brain was so fried that I couldn't even remember a single question. I agree with everyone else that UW was definitely the best prep. Maybe it was just my form but it seemed like the question stems may have even been a little shorter than UW.

Hello children. I posted here recently asking for advice how to increase from 232 to 240 in a couple of weeks. I gave 16 a go and got an even lower score; 226. The pure joy of plummeted self confidence!

NBME 13: 224
NBME 15: 233
NBME 17: 233 (delicious plateau)
NBME 16: 226 (Confidence, it was nice meeting you)
I'm just interested in IM or Emergency. My exam is in two weeks. Gimme some words of hope (or a reality check). I think at this point I'm so exhausted I just wanna pass the damn thing. Do those scores point to possible similar scores on the real deal? And if so, is it good enough to a residency in those programs?

Well, your scores are pretty consistent and point towards a just above average score on the real deal, but it could of course swing a few points either way. Provided you are a US student you will have no problem whatsoever matching into those specialties.

I took the practice exam at prometric yesterday. I wonder if anyone came across a similar question: The DM type 1 girl is not following the treatment plan, and her doc (who has been having trouble with her misbehaving son at home) tells the girl "cant you see we're all trying to help you?!" I was stuck between projection and countertransference.
I think it's countertransference. FA says for countertransference "Doctor projects feelings about formative or other important persons onto patient". I think of it as, anything with the physician involved, it's some type of transference

Took USMLE yesterday. Thought it was a fair test, but have been constantly thinking about the select questions that I got stumped on, and in hindsight should have known. Sucks, but hopefully I'm only hyper-focusing on those and tested comparably to my practice test and UWorld performance. My strategy was to read through FA 3X supplemented with Sketchy for micro/pharm, UWorld 2X and Pathoma 2X. Completed the Kaplan QBank provided through the school, and completed UWorld 1.7x through (was hitting 90% correct on blocks leading up to my test date). So with Kaplan, USMLE-Rx (used during school year), and UWorld, I'd say I completed close to 8,000 questions.

Progress:
5/29/2016 NBME 16 243
6/1/2016 USMLE Kaplan practice test through school - 71%
6/9/16 UWorld 1st Pass 79%
6/12/16 UWSA1 264
6/19/16 NBME 17 260
6/26/16 UWorld 2nd Pass 91% (~70% completed)
6/26/16 UWSA2 264
6/29/16 TEST DAY - Actual Score ??????

What I'd do differently: probably not much. Reading FA multiple times was easily the best thing I did. Hammering through UWorld was really helpful. NBME exams were pretty representative of what I saw on my test. Sketchy for micro/pharm was hands-down, the best resource for me to learn those topics. Micro and pharm were so straightforward on the actual test that it was almost laughable. Some questions on the real deal were a little more vague (as in leaving out details that would clue you into a diagnosis faster), but overall a good test. Got quite a few physiology questions with the arrows, which I'm not terribly good at, but think I managed. Just worried about if I performed up to my full potential or if those easy points that I missed point to a larger struggle throughout the test. Who knows. Already anxiously waiting to see my score, but it will be a few weeks...
Well isn't it the infamous HotLunch96...
It sounds to me you did great, so congratulations and good job! Do the same with COMLEX and you'll be walking down easy street.

I think you guys should calm down a little bit and wait for your result... You are making people who have not taken the exam more anxious...

Dude this is quite possibly the worst thread on the Internet to be looking at before taking the exam. It's like watching a horror movie before going to sleep.

Almost halfway through UW at this point (avg 86%). My initial plan was to do it twice but damn it is boring. I find myself skipping most of the explanations when reviewing and I'm starting to question whether or not a second pass is worth it. I'm 4 weeks out. Any thoughts?

^I felt the same way towards the last 2 blocks I took. I finished uworld with 3 weeks left and started the Kaplan q bank to practice my approach and beat down weaknesses. I redid like 1/2 of my incorrects but found I was just remembering the answers. Took mine on the 9th so no score yet but I'd say to keep taking uworld seriously. 86% is good but don't get overconfident. Rule everything out, work on timing, memorize all the things you suck at. Good luck!

86% is a very good average for a first pass of UWorld. You clearly have a very good base of information and are efficiently applying it to questions. I don't believe that you'd benefit much from a 2nd pass.

86% first pass on Uworld is actually amazing. You will do great on Step 1 if you continue on that trajectory.

You're going to get a 250+, don't worry about it. That's an insane average.

20 is like nothing. It will turn out better than you think. Doing blocks where you have only 4-5 marked out of the 40 on that exam is extraordinary.

I was marking 10-15/block. I just happen to remember about 80qs of the entire exam, of which 20+ are sure misses. I do hope you are right, though. I really want to get a score within 5 points of my average NBME

I had the same exact experience, for what it's worth, and was doing well on NBME practice exams going into the real thing. Here's hoping the exams truly were harder/we could miss more than our practice tests to get a score right around our NBME averages. 🙂

I felt really ****ty about the exam as well. and the worst part was that during the exam I was so distracted by how bad I felt I was doing that it was hard for me to even focus on the question in front of me. because all I kept thinking was how badly am I ****ing this up right now??? I felt like I was in a state of panic through 80% of the exam lol. I am PRAYING that the curve on this thing helps us all out haha

NBME 13 Mid April - 224
NBME 15 - 3/7 - 258 (6 weeks out)
Relieved to see this, But not gonna be satisfied! Same pace if not faster for another few weeks! Cmon!

Nice!! Which nbme did u take? What have u been doing for this?

This was NBME 15. Did 60% of UWorld, tried to fill in gaps in my knowledge and any flaws in my concepts i came across while solving questions. Basically, focused on one day at time , so i don't get overwhelmed by the mountain ahead.

I thought everything's coming out on 7/13?
I was under that impression too. It does say "target date" though, so who knows. Could be earlier or later. All I know is print permit links usually disappear when score will become available. However, most students don't exceed their eligibility because they get their score in 3-4 weeks so it could be that.
