I haven’t heard anything from St. Vincent either but I think they already sent out invites.
Why do you think that?

So do you think I should remain in my current post until I get a cardiology fellowship or continue as hospitalist and do research on the side? I’m just also worried about being too far out from clinical touch which might then become another issue in the application.
Hi there, you got impressive CV. Want to get more accurate picture, When you say 20 publications, what kind of pubs we are talking about? Like Good impact factor journal? Any interviews last seasons?I was hoping to get some advice on this thread as it's my first time on it. I feel very discouraged at this point as I have applied to every hospital in the country and have not even had ONE interview in the past 2 fellowship cycles. If some experts could give me some advice as to what they recommend I should do next or just give up my Cardiology dreams, I would love honest feedback. The only downside in my CV is that I have one CS attempt and apparently this has been the hesitation in giving me interviews.
-IMG graduate
-No Visa required
-Residency from small community hospital
-Step 1: 240
-Step 2 CK: 240
-Step 3 CK: 218
-20 publications
-10 abstracts
-After residency I did a one year research fellowship in large university hospital in mid-west
-After the one year research fellowship and still not matching, I am currently enrolled in another Cardiology Research/Clinical one year fellowship program in Ivy League and still no interviews.
Don't know what to do at this point as I have been out of residency for 2 years now and still continuing to stay in the Cardiology field at some point so I can still be a competitive applicant but have not gotten any interviews in the past 2 cycles and applied to every hospital in the country. Because of the CS first attempt fail, will I never get into a cardiology fellowship?
Did anyone get interview invitation from Florida Atlantic University asking for a preferred date, without their own list; and later never heard back ?
Thanks
Oh Wow !, Just scheduledFlorida Atlantic University uses ERAS to schedule interviews and you have to select the "invitation" option under the interview tab on ERAS (between message center and history tabs). From what I can see the only date left is 9/27 so you should hurry and schedule the interview before the date is gone.
Best of luck!
did you get a one date only or a list to chose from ? Also did they send a confirmation email. ?Just got a SUNY Downstate interview

So, it looks like USMLE scores really matter even though I was told numerous times by fellows and faculty that it's not really a deal breaker when it comes to Cardiology fellowship application. I have good research, I'm doing a 3rd year chief in my programs, have great letters and only received 3 interviews out of 115 applications. Only thing I can see as a "red flag" is a low USMLE scores (No attempts). It looks like almost all the invitations were sent out and now I'm thinking about plan B.
What are your thoughts about Plan B. Hospitalist + research or Non-accredited fellowships?
thanks and good luck
Did anyone hear back from Mt. Sinai Brooklyn to schedule their interview?
I sent them my desired dates last Friday and they never responded back.
Did they send out an itinerary for the interview day yet?Oh Wow !, Just scheduled
Thanks a mill !

I'm an IMG in a university-affiliated program. Done 2 years of dedicated clinical research at a major tertiary center in the northeast for what it's worth.
Sent from my SM-N950U using SDN mobile
With low step scores and an IMG, I'm not too surprised. IMO, step scores do matter at least a little but it's just one small piece of your whole app. Interview well and hope for the best.
You have a point there. IMO scores should not be the way to filter out applications for fellowships. People with really high scores can under perform in residency and it means nothing. But that's just my opinion, it does not matter!People can only interview well if they don’t get filtered out and actually get interviews

Yes, they sent invites already.

Please do. I have an offer for cardiology hospitalist position at top hospital for next year but unsure if I should do that or stay in my non accredited fellowship position. Still have not even gotten one interview and don’t know how to overcome the CS attempt.
Not Yet !Did they send out an itinerary for the interview day yet?
Do you think I should? Would it help at this point as all interviews are out?Have you tried emailing and calling the programs?

Emailed 50 programs, some programs said will take a closer look at your application. Didn’t get any Interview though from those places.Have anyone tried emailing/ calling programs and ended up getting an invitation to interview?
I feel like programs will perceive this action as nagging and that you're desperate. I don't know if this ever worked?
Does anyone have info on that?
