Quick question for people who do 2 blocks a day. Do you do 80 questions then review all of them at the end? Or do a block then review and then do the other block?? Worried I might forget the question and waste time rereading If I do 2 blocks in a row

I have been slacking a bit with questions lately but I am about ~15% through UWorld and ~33% through Kaplan (ok I've been slacking a lot). I've been devoting so much of my time to Zanki but I'm starting to use that postpone feature a bit more so I'm only doing ~500 reviews and 75 new a day and will finish all three decks by early May. I know that's not how it's supposed to be used but it's been sucking way too much time out of my day and I'm already way behind where I want to be on questions.

With Kaplan I typically just read the explanation and tell myself why I got it wrong. I haven't been keeping a journal or word document or anything like that to track my progress so you guys are doing a lot more than I have. With UWorld, I read the explanation, rationalize why I got it wrong and then I've been making my own UWorld anki deck and adding all details from explanations that weren't included in the Zanki decks. I'll likely review this during dedicated as Zanki covers a lot of what is in UWorld and honestly I feel like that's why my percentage is what it is.

This is why I haven't been putting too much time into in-depth analysis. Most of what I get wrong is already in Zanki, I just forgot it or haven't gotten to the card yet. I figure by the end of dedicated I should have seen everything and hammered out my weak points/stuff I consistently forget.

So many UWorld questions are almost verbatim from Zanki and most of the time the ones I get wrong are because I either misread or misunderstood the question or I just forgot it. They've definitely added a ton of UWorld details into the Zanki decks which helps a lot.

For Rx I did 40 and reviewed as I was going through on tutor mode untimed and by First Aid system. Start UW on monday and my plan is starting with 80 questions timed random straight through then spending the time in the afternoon/night reviewing afterward

this year has pretty much beaten all confidence out of me. Aiming for a 230 so I can move on with life.

Ive been rethinking what specialty I’m wanting lately. It’s scary to think that doors might be totally closed to me in a few months. The fear and anxiety is what’s currently driving me.

Pretty much gave up on my first specialty that was ultra-competitive for something not even competitive at all. I used to be such a gunner but i think thats been sucked out of me.

I think I saved up all my gunner energy for now. Cruised by in my courses up until I started boards studying.

Ive taken an interest in radiology after talking with one of my mentors about it and it seems like it’s relatively competitive.

Rads is fire. sick pay sick lifestyle lots of cool path

Yeah thats pretty awesome especially since your dx skills make the final call for a lot of patients. Have you thought about IR or mostly DR

DR draws me, but I could see IR being interesting. I’d love to have some hands-on skills, but I can’t imagine I’d want to do it every day for years.

Some people (mostly MD students) wants the NBME to switch to P/F NOW because "it's hard studying" during the Coronavirus pandemic lol smh. I would be pissed if they actually do.View attachment 299063
laugh of the day

This is literally the perfect time to study for step. It's not like there is anything else you can do with everything shutting down

Do you guys think the closing of exam sites will push down grades or up ?? I think that extra time might actually be bad for alot of people especially when u cant go out and keep up with hobbies/gym in th mean time

Any predictions on whether June exams will be rescheduled? Things aren't looking so optimistic :/

**** no, I've been working my ass off to get a good score and I will continue to do so. I hate that they're trying to get rid of objective measurements and meritocracy.

Of course they would. Those kids that want pass fail now are prob at top tier MD schools where their numerical score means so much less solely because of where they go. F that lol I need my Step score to carry me which is why i am going HAM

I will literally lose it.

Seriously, though, do we think this pass/fail thing could actually happen? Even my school is considering shifting to P/F grades to "relieve the stress"....I could see the NBME going for this if enough people get behind it..

I just think residencies are already going to have enough difficulty with all the timelines being messed up that completely shifting step to P/F would make things infinitely more difficult. I just don't see them wanting to change things anymore than they have to for the time being. I also think it's a bit of a bad look for students to be whining about hard it is to study for board exams when current doctors and nurses are out on the frontlines of a global pandemic and that's going to be us in a few short years. Stress is a part of the job.

This lockdown killing me. SO much distractions at home, no gym ...

Ive been following the /r/bodyweight fitness routine for the past week. Pretty good workout with minimal resources. Dips with chairs, pull-ups on my hangboard, weighted push ups with my backpack on, step ups on the stairs with a heavy backpack, using linens for horizontal rows, etc.

With all the quarantine anyone else going a little insane studying in the same room/same chair/same desk all day? Have always been a coffee shop nomad. im taking a full day off tmrw literally Bout to pull my hair out yall

Im feeling it too. Feeling the burn out a bit too since I don’t have way too much to distract me at home and my GF being around actually makes me study more, otherwise I feel self conscious that I’m goofing off when I shouldn’t be.

My SO makes me study less. Cuddle breaks last way too long

It's even harder with loved ones sad and crying because they are scared and people getting laid off. Just a horrible situation all around. And we have it easy compared to the rest

I have been slacking off way too much lately. I can’t stay focused to save my life and find myself doing Anki and then somehow I’m watching YouTube videos or something like that. Really need to get a routine in place and stick to it.

Duuude same. since the match lists have came out I haven't been able to focus at all either. Watched like 6 hours of netflix yesterday by accident

Im taking most of today to chill/refocus, then a practice exam tomorrow, then back at it for the rest of the week

Gotta admit that this quarantine has been incredibly high yield for me. Finished the entire last organ system in one week, would've taken 3 if class hadn't been cancelled. Hopefully prometrics won't close beyond the current plans but that'll likely be a regional thing

Starting a regiment of Uworld q's only except for practice tests starting tomorrow until gameday. the zanki grind is nearing an end

Been going a little crazy. I normally study at home but having the breaks to get up and go to school or something for an hour definitely broke up my day more. I'm getting the boards stuff I want done, but have been majorly slacking off in classes. On the bright side, my school announced a move to P/F for the rest of the semester, so it probably doesn't matter anyways lol

Im taking today off too and an NBME tomorrow as well. Which one you taking? I was thinking of NBME 13 or 15

I took NBME 20 to get a baseline since my friends who have taken said it's most similar to the new NBMEs. I also heard 20 is one of the harder ones so figured it would light a fire under me with a lower score. I plan to take UWSA1, 21, 22, 23, 24, 18 and UWSA2 throughout dedicated.

P/F for rest of year thats fire!

Nice! I heard 20 is the hardest. My one buddy that took Step 1 already said he almost threw his computer when he took 20 lol. I plan on taking one of the earlier ones tomorrow like 13 or 15 and then towards the exam gonna take UWSA2 Free 120 and NBME 18 and that is probably it honestly. The NBMEs dont have explanations so I won't be doing too many of them. All they really do is tell me where I am at and I heard 18 is the only one that is really that predictive. The other ones are just soul crushers and under predict just what I heard lol

I have shifted to this train of thought too. Originally wanted to do as many as possible, but knowing that there's no explanations for what you get wrong, the fact that people say they aren't that similar to Step, their price, and their terrible score predictions, I feel like my time is better spent putting more energy into UWorld.

lmao couldnt have said it better myself. Especially the price.... robbed. Heard UWSA2 is spot on exactly so saving that as well

Yall keeping up with zanki?? UWORLD basically ended by zanki streak.

Planning on doing it at the end of the day, the time to do them should get under an hour after the first week as the counts drop so I'll keep up with it. But I am prioritizing uworld and will be using the postpone option often

Yup, it's rough right now but I'm working through my last couple hundred of new cards so my reviews should decrease significantly within the next few weeks. By the time I hit dedicated, I'm hoping they're about half what they are now

I normally have around 800 reviews that take like 4 hours to do. Still fighting to keep up with that ontop of my flashcards from UWORLD incorrect.

Unfortunately, I'm not taking and NBME, I'm taking a school mandated practice exam. It's dumb too because their only goal is to get us to pass and I've shown that I can more than pass the COMLEX already so they should just let me forego their 400 question COMLEX practice exams and do my own.

I'm only doing 10 new cards from my U world incorrects, but yeah keeping up with zanki is exhausting. Gonna be doubly tough as I have my major review for Cardio, Resp, and renal coming up too.
