I figured since it seems there is a thread for all the other recent and upcoming test dates, I'd start one for us 5/19ers.

Two weeks to go, getting close.

Another mcat dream last night.....for some reason we got our scores in the mail....opened it and BAM 37........a couple minutes after running around joyfully I look again.....19 ugh man waking up from these depresses me that much more.

So, I actually called AAMC and asked them how they "curve" this wonderful test. The guy I spoke with told me that there is NO curve at all. They base their grading on some "complicated formula," where the harder questions are worth more than easier ones. He gave me the example where a hard question would be worth 1 point; whereas, an easier one would be 0.25 points. He also told me that we are not compared to our fellow examinees that took the exam on the same day ( I was really shocked when he said that, as I had always heard that we were).

Honestly, I was disappointed when he said that there is no curve, as I was hoping the curve would help us all on that treacherous BS section🙁

When I read the site it said that although there isnt a curve.... The difficulty of each test is taken into account and the scoring is basically manipulated how they see fit. From what I gather an extremely difficult question (or passage) would only be worth a fraction of what easy questions would be worth. However you have to remember that AAMC deems which questions are difficult not us (because scoring is preset). So what we need to hope for is that the AAMC knew that the BS was going to be hellish from the get go and set the scale in our favor.

On a side note, besides the one (maybe two) people on here, everyone I have talked to thought the BS section was a score killer.

I keep doing the same thing, just with the test overall.....bouncing from confident-I scored where I was hoping , to ****-I better just schedule a retake now cause I tanked......
Before the test I wasn't all that nervous but waiting for the score is driving me crazy!!!

Same. It's driving me insane 🙁

No curve? Fml, fml. So instead of using a statistical method such as a bell curve to score it they'll use an arbitrary method...that makes about as much sense as that endocrine bio passage. Oh well about 2 days and 1 hour left. Happy fathers day.

They have got to do some sort of "curve" if thats what we are going to call it. It might not be based on other test takers performance on test day but there is some way that they balance easy/difficult questions. Its just not clear as to how they do it. Man im stressing about this score...

Waiting for the score while I submit my AMCAS primary without its knowledge:

I laugh at all the previously posted jokes because now I know why they're so familiar... I've listened to Jordan and Jon crack these in audio osmosis for the better part of a year!

The no curve isn't news. If you read anything regarding the AAMC, it's very clear.

It's a scaled test. The gradients etc are premade and there is no difference between examinations as the questions have been assessed previously. They throw in experimentals to test questions etc.

Curve implies that the outcome depends on the scores of everyone from a certain examination. This isn't the case.

Exactly.

One bear says to another, "Help me, I'm dissolving!". The other bear says "What? Bears aren't soluble!". The other bear replies, "That's easy for you to say; you're not polar!"

A small piece of ice which lived in a test tube fell in love with a Bunsen burner. "Bunsen! my flame! I melt whenever I see you" said the ice. The Bunsen burner replied :"It's just a phase you're going through".

time's a tickin'..............

Anyone having that slight tingly feeling of vertigo / impending doom in their stomachs? Cuz that's how I feel when I put myself in you guys's shoes right now (I'm a 5/31er btw, so not far off either).

Only when I dwell on it. It's more of an impending sense of doom, in my case, than vertigo...unless I'm plastered and thinking about it.

Not lately. But the days following the test I had recurring dreams where the MCAT was scored in public and I was the laughing stock of the crowd as I missed question after question.

I dream everynight that I got a 45L.

Yeah 45L.

Haha!

Haha!

I would totally take a 45J over a balanced MCAT

This pic and your avatar are CONFLICTING!!

One is angry FUUUU

The other - chill out skeletons smokin'

haha 😛

This feels like the last 'piece' of the puzzle -- I just really hope it doesn't end up being the missing piece!

And the skeletons moreso remind me of the substantial waiting of the whole application process

Don't forget to yell "bigmoneybigmoneybigmoneyBIGMONEYBIGMONEYBBBBIIIGGMONEYYYYYY" before you open your AAMC account tomorrow at 3.

I'm too tired to even figure this out...

Over worrying about it, terrified to go look tomorrow. Tired of everyone asking how I think I did. Now I've got my husband in my ear spinning some tale about how I'll probably try to check my score and there will just be a pinwheel spinning and the word "loading" flashing continuously.

This may kill me.

Im gonna troll this thread tomorrow and wait for one of you guys to say scores are up. Then Im going to check. Seriously I havent been this Nervous since my state championship in high school (lame I know). I wasnt even that nervous to take this stupid thing.
