I haven't seen this date posted yet, but I know I can't be the only one taking it on this day. It's almost exactly two months away, and hopefully everybody's prep is productive so far. I've been doing a lot of practice tests, and, at the advice of others, ordered a quarterly subscription to The Economist to try and help out with Verbal (jury's still out on that one). My target score is going to be tough to reach, and I still have a lot of work to do to get there. We'll see how it goes in about 60 days.

Any other "7/14ers" out there?

Hey all!

I've been following this thread since 2pm on test day. I figured I'd share my thoughts about the test as well.

I felt like I did okay on PS, VR is always my lowest section (AAMC 11 I got a 7), but I was completely demoralized by the BS section. My average was around a 10, but I honestly don't see how there is anyway I could have gotten over a 7 on this one.

Because of this, 2 days after my test date, I scrambled and signed up for another test date Sept. 7. I just don't want to waste time re-reviewing next summer when the content is fresh in my head. So I gave myself a week to chill and get my personal statement together, and now I am studying again.

Just curious, is anyone in the same boat?

I am in the same boat too. I am usually 10-11 PS and 10-12 on BS. But VR 6-10: I hate this section so much and I never know how I ever do. There is one thing that is consistent that I know, whenever I feel like I've done horrible on VR, I get a decent score... hopefully this reflects the same because I felt like VR on the MCAT crushed me...

I think I'll wait for my scores and if I have to re-take, I'll do it in September... but let's all hope not! Positive thinking =)

Dudeeee! Same here, I never really had any trouble with PS or BS, but verbal has always been my weakest also. Totally with you on that post verbal feeling. I remember after AAMC 9, i was like there is no way i broke a 4 on verbal, but got a 9 somehow. The verbal on the real deal was definitely easier to read, but i thought the questions were a little harder. So coming out of verbal, it didnt feel too good, but then again it never feels good after verbal. Lol

What have you guys been doing since the mcat? Just relaxing? Classes? Vacationing? SDN-ing nonstop? Rofl so far, I've just been waking up/sleeping to SDN while palette knife painting and relaxing throughout the day. About to go on a vacation soon though!

In contrast to you guys, verbal has always been my best subscore. Ironically, it was my lowest subscore the 1st time I took the real mcat 😕 Just goes to show how random that section can be.

Oh, and in response to NiceMustache, I will be in the Caribbean in 2 days! (and no, not at a caribbean med school 😛 )

Long time follower but decided to finally post...

I have been feeling so up and down about this MCAT.. My practice test averages were around 27-28.. VR (7-9) was always my worse subject but physical sciences 8-11 and bio was 9-11 for me on all my practice tests.

Physical Sciences: Overall, I didnt feel horrible but that passage was very difficult. I felt it was similar but a little harder than AAMC exams.. AAMC 7-11 more representative of the real test. Hoping for a 9-10

Verbal: I never know how to feel.. I could have either did very well or terrible.. I felt it was easy to read and get through but the ?'s were tricky.. so well see hoping for a 9-10

Bio: I felt the organic chem was easy.. That one passage was the worse.. The Free standing ?'s werent too bad.. I am hoping for a 10-11..

Overall, this is my 2nd time and I am waiting patiently but this wait is driving me crazy!!

The wait has been driving me crazy too. I've been avoiding my secondaries because of this. I'm really hoping, praying to be pleasantly surprised. Wishful thinking? I hope not. 🙁

okay... i'm trying not to break any rules or anything -- but can anybody provide me any references that can help explain that discrete involving nephrons. no answers, just a reference where I can look up the material. hopefully one of you smart guys or girls can remember that question... it is driving me crazy to know whether I got it right or not...

-Thanks

rofl, I unfortunately prefered my sea water creatures though I now know they are inferior to the freshwater :/

dont even remember what i preferred. which prep book/course covers the differences between the two? mine didn't...

whats funny is i looked a couple of different places online and I have seen either be the choice. so i dont even know which one it is exactly -_-

i dont want to post anything specific but i did some google searches, and have found both things. In fact i even found one thing when they said depending on the parameters they could be either.

FML... a friend of mine who didn't study nearly as much as me got a 33O. He scored a 13 on Verbal! I average about an 8-9 =(

I congratulated him because he is a smart guy but hands down I know the material way better than him and I don't think I can match his score. He will definitely rub it in my face forever.... 😡

trust me i know the feeling. I have a friend who scored a 35 after only few weeks of studying while I don't even know if I'll break a 30 after studying for 2 months. Even though she didn't rub it in my face, why couldn't I be gifted 😡

what are you guys seeing on Thx?

I just have "You have no scores yet."

Getting a weird feeling that I accidentally voided my test 🙁

hopefully not..

Don't worry, it's very doubtful you voided without intending to do so. It sounds like if you choose to void, another "Are you sure you want to void" page pops up, and you have to choose that you do, indeed, want to void again. You'd almost certainly realize your mistake at that point.

That's what mine says too...I really hope that we didn't accidentally void. But I remember reading that message over and over and making sure that I chose not to void...

...hopefully.

haha can anyone confirm?

Don't remember any second window.

btw, my new homepage: http://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?iso=20120814T15&p0=:&msg=MCAT+score+release

Oh my. I'm fairly certain I would have to be admitted if that were my homepage. I just keep telling myself it will be another 3 weeks or so, right before the fall semester begins. I am of the belief that if I don't continuously think about when scores will be released, the time will pass much faster than if I know how many minutes until they are.

It's true that the exact number is known only to the AAMC people but I was just asking for an educated estimate. From some quick googling it seems that anywhere from 9 to 12 mistakes can result in a 10 on the science sections of the MCAT.

I agree with that number.. thats what I read while googling

I have just been working on my AAMC application till scores come out. Has anyone used any application counselors to help with their application? Kaplan has a program but it costs a lot of $$$. Is it worth it?

when you guys pressed yes, i want to grade my mcat did you still not get another box that popped up? because I got that. I hope I did not void....

I took mine today and that is what it says on Thx for me. I searched the forum and it appears that this is the standard message people see until the scores are released.

I think you got the results for practice tests, not actual tests. On the practice AAMCs missing 9-14 problems will net you a 10 (although obviously the range changes a little bit from test to test). Now if we believe AAMC that the practice tests are exactly like the real thing then this makes sense. However, it seems to be the general opinion that the practice tests are easier than the real thing, in which case you would expect more lenient scoring on the real deal, and indeed that's also what people who have taken the test generally say.

Also don't forget that AAMC slips in experimental questions, none of which count towards your score. So some of the questions you thought you did horribly on may not have actually mattered at all.

Yeah, this wait is miserable... but we got this, positive thinking - 🙂

Next weekend I'll get to go on a hike to a gorgeous waterfall to get my mind off of everything. Can't wait! I know when I return I'll be back stressing out about my score...

Viscious cycle ain't it...

when you guys pressed the button for grading your mcat, did something else show up after too? Idk if it was a screen, a pop up "are you sure" box, or both. Just trying to remember. I am an idiot because I was dying to get out of that room and now I want to make sure I did not accidentally void.

Chance of voiding it unintentionally is really rare. So don't worry about it. It's only this wait that's messing with your mind.

If you call the AAMC they can tell you if you voided.

Gahh!! 14 more days! I completely cut off myself from all MCAT material and discussions after writing my exam until today, but now, as the result date is nearing, the wait is killing me. I think I did bad compared to my performance on the practice exams, especially in the PS. While I didn't void my exam, I really don't want to know my score. AHHH! It's so nerve-wracking. I'll probably ask my friend to check my score for me!

Just found out I will be in my first two-a-day practice of the season when scores are released. I will have to think about my scores waiting for me for an extra three hours.😕

I am so anxious and nervous its gettin tough lol I have schools waiting on my score for decisions and this is making me a crazy man
Man this is rough. Just one week and change left. From the general consensus I've been getting from reading this and other forums is that the majority of people get a score that is roughly their average aamc practice (7,8,9,10, and 11) score +/- 2 points. I really hope this is the case cause that PS section is really bumming me out. Last time I wrote in September and the time went by really quickly cause I was so busy with school and research.
