I haven't seen this date posted yet, but I know I can't be the only one taking it on this day. It's almost exactly two months away, and hopefully everybody's prep is productive so far. I've been doing a lot of practice tests, and, at the advice of others, ordered a quarterly subscription to The Economist to try and help out with Verbal (jury's still out on that one). My target score is going to be tough to reach, and I still have a lot of work to do to get there. We'll see how it goes in about 60 days.

Any other "7/14ers" out there?

How about TBR? Thats my biggest worry that a review book wont cover everything seen on the MCAT and that we will encounter something not even touched upon.

I also thought those two passages were the hardest parts, funny because I'm chemical engineer so I should of made the PS one my bitch.

I hated that one bio passage that was just a wall of text..

WHY YOU NO GIVE ME FIGURES

YES. I couldn't even start reading it I was so shocked. And it was dense! I think I read it through fully like 4 times (luckily I'm a quick reader).

My first mcat was 10/9/10, I'm guessing 9-10-9 for this one :'(

Btw, does anyone know how I can verify that I voided my score? I chose the second option and then got another screen that dealt with various circumstances that scores may be voided. I never actually got a confirmation of the test being voided, so I'm just a little nervous :scared:

I also had this problem. I voided and yet at the end it said "In 30 days we'll have your exam scores!" which I thought was very strange because I double-checked.

PS- First passage was so easy i started questioning if this was the REAL MCAT until i got hit with passage 4 ( or maybe passage 3 but i cant remember). Anyways, this passage tested my weakness in all of physics topics and it had like 4 calculations in this very passage. There was one question on the discrete that was exactly the same as a question on EK. Also, the questions that were suppose to be freebies were tricky as hell.

VR- For some reason, the passages were easier than the aamc ones and verbal is my weakness. so that says something. Also, the passages were not longer as people make it out to be except for the last passage which was a paragraph longer from the usual aamc.

BIO- passages were similar to TPR advanced passages and AAMC 11. guessed on half of the discretes because of time. I voided in the end. ( not because it was harder than the usual aamc's but i wasn't fully prepared yet........ still had some weaknesses to address).

I thought the exact same thing, like "this is gonna be a breeze!" and then my face slowly turned from 😀 toO_O

Do you remember a whole passage explicitly about circuits? There wasn't any, only discrete(s). I'm fairly positive Markjohn was talking about the thermo passage. The brutal, brutal thermo passage.
I think I am talking about the thermo one. Anyone remember how many questions that passage had? Lol trying to determine worst case scenario.

I usually nope out of anything thermo related, but surprisingly it wasn't toooooo bad once I used some of the equations. That or I missed them all and that's why I think it wasn't too bad.
I tried to do the first calculation in that passage and realized that the formula i was using won't work after spending 5 mins on it 👎

Let us hope that they consider that passage difficult as well and have scaled the score accordingly. By this logic we may not do amazingly in VR even though most of us thought it to be fairly straightforward.

I just got home! and wow... that was 8 hours.. 8 am to 4 pm.. was not expecting that.. any whoo I thought every thing was hard considering the time limit...except the Essays! oddly I really enjoyed them! haha usually I hate and suck at essays.. I guess Ill know in 30 days...

That test was a doozy! I had been scoring well on practice tests, yet don't think I did too well on this test. Is anyone thinking about signing up for a retake? How would you suggest studying if you have already completed all the AAMC practice tests?

Seriously don't know how I will make it for the next month. I need to know now! lol

Well! That was certainly different than my practice tests.

PS- not too bad,

VR- anyone else think this was a walk in the park? Easy to read passages and not too difficult questions.

Writing- nailed it

Bio- whoo baby. So hard.

Edit

Redacted anything remotely specific

ozzi22, what's your profile pic of? I always forget what you write after looking at it.

Oh. My. Word.

That was horrible. Brutal. Blood bath.

I have a 4.0GPA. I'm a reasonably smart girl. I worked incredibly hard prepping for this test. I took every AMCAS full length, as well as the extensive "assessments" in every subject. I did the 101 Verbal Passages. There's nothing else I could have done (within the bounds of reason) to get ready.

I was averaging 35 on the AMCAS full lengths. I was predicting +/- 3 (32-38). I feel like I'll be lucky to break 28.

Terrible. Horrible. No good. Very bad.

MCAT = ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US.
Me = DO NOT WANT

I restudied for this thing and hit PS's of aamc9: 13, aamc6: 13, aamc10: 10 and thought the PS was horrible in terms of that passage with the multiple equations in the table. I had NO idea how to use those. Very frustrating. I agree with pretty much all the posts so far about this exam. Afterwards I found myself hoping for above an 8 on PS😕 Hopefully the curve is generous.

It appears there is some confusion regarding discussion of the MCAT.

You may comment on your general exam experience such as test center conditions or how you felt about a particular section, such as the writing section or biological sciences.

You may NOT:
  • Share or post the text (full or partial) of a test question and/or a test answer.
  • Reconstruct a list of topics tested in a particular section.
  • Mention a specific topic that was tested on an exam.
  • Outline the steps or process to answer a question.
  • Speculate about which passages are field test or experimental items.

oh snap! They be watching!!

Actually, I think that's *exactly* the right way to handle that. Some of the posts in this thread were on the wrong side of those rules, while others were dancing dangerously close to the edges. Stepping in with that reminder of precisely what is and isn't allowed before things got completely out of hand was the right thing to do.

It appears there is some confusion regarding discussion of the MCAT......

and that's why I was shying away from specifics, better safe than sorry me thinks.

I understand why the rules are there, although this makes it really hard for us to ascertain whether or not a particular question was actually bollocks and worthy of contesting, but I suppose that the overall effect would be nil even if the reviewers didn't find fault with it like we hope they will.

Since the AAMC reps are ominously "watching" it'd be cool if they clarified confusion about "curves" "scale adjustment" and the likelyhood of a question (whether wrong or just grossly beyond the scope of the test) being thrown out. I imagine though they're (understandably) busy patrolling all the forums for violations to address, one can wish though.

I know its over with and I can't do anything about it but I can't help to feel extremely nervous about this exam. I feel like I may have made stupid mistakes and I did not think through some answers. I choose not to void the exam but I'm getting more and more uneasy about this exam as time progresses.

This was my second time taking the MCAT and I really don't want to take this exam ever again. It has completely drained me and I'm feeling really burnt out. I really hope my scores don't drop from what I had the first time.

I don't really know what to expect. I had taken all the AAMC practice tests before when I studied for the MCAT the first time and I was familiar with the passages so I can't trust the scores I got when I prepped for this exam. I took some other exams like TPR and GS exams and I wasn't breaking 30's.

:scared:

ah!

ah!

Same, no clue what to expect. Practice scores ranged from 34-40 (40 on AAMC 11) so I honestly expected to walk out of the test today with alot of confidence that I did well.. instead walked out semi-defeated.

I've slowly remembered many of the questions (bio mostly) and have been realizing I did better than I gave myself credit for. Though I did realize I got one question wrong so far! Hopefully not many more.

I'd be very happy with anything 34+ but am shooting for 36+ (my AAMC average). Walked out of test thought I had maybe a 32-33. I'm a tad more confident now and think I may have gotten just around that 36/37 mark.

I never had to guess randomly on any AAMC question and well, had to do that quite a few times in PS and once or twice in BS today.

PS- 10/11
VR- 12/13
BS- 12/13

So thinking 34-37. Really unsure.

29 days left..
