Official 7/27 Exam Thread!!

I think the key here is to endure. After working in the hospital for the past 4 years, one thing I've learned is the best of doctors aren't the ones who are right all the time. They are the ones who can admit their mistakes and re approach similar obstacles with a better plan. i think that is the spirit we need here. If one of us did earn a lower score than expected, we should re-approach our problems in that way. WE CAN NOT let today destroy our goals and dreams... This will help us become better doctors in the future..in my opinion. So good luck to everyone, as i am really a July 26th taker I thought i would post this on here because of the large volume of viewers.

Good luck again guys, hope all the best. 🙂

It's ridiculous how much it feels like my whole future is riding on this one test. Which, let's be honest, it probably is...

I never get test anxiety, I know, I'm lucky. But I think a big part of that is knowing that pass or fail it wont change my life in any significant way... well thats all out the window with this test. Really hoping we all do well! but yes I am quite anxious now 😀

ahh try to enjoy your time in Aruba! I know easier said than done :/. Sucks to be on vacation and feel like you can't enjoy it. Hopefully that'll change in a few minutes!

Well I don't usually get text anxiety when writing the actual test... on the day of writing the MCAT I was completely fine. But this waiting for the results to come out sucks... 🙁

the only thing keeping me sane right now is knowing how equally stressed all of you guys are. thank god for this forum.

Now this thread is going to blow up.
My scores are whatever...but a M in writing, with Q in the other 2 times?? Are they serious??

AAMC 9 & 10 = 28
Predicted >28
Actual: 29N

PS/VR/BS
09/10/10

Thought i did really well on PS, highest verbal score was an 8 prior but overall I can't say that I'm too disappointed. Would have loved 10's across the board but a 29 will have to do.

11P 8V 14B!!!

33O!!

I am sooo happyyyy! A little bummed about verbal but sooo happy about BIO!!!

I don't know what to do with myself!

AAMC average: 34/35 ish

Prediction: 34R

Actual: 11-12-12 35R

WOOOHOOO 🙂

Congrats! Mine is abysmal (22q). Verbal raped me (4!!). I did not get to finish three passages on verbal (I was really slow on that exam---also I was fasting so may be I should not have tried without glucose!). As for bio (9) and physical (9). Now I am signed up for 11th of sept. Last time I took the test, I only took one practice test and got around the same but decided to give it a try. Going forward, I have a few weeks and I am wondering if you guys can suggest what exams to take ( i have access to Kaplan and AAMC tests). Thanks! Again congrats to you and all other students!

Since nowhere could I find really solid info on the predictive powers of the AAMC mcat practice battery, I am giving out my own!

These were all taken under "real" testing conditions, no "non-real" breaks, and all about a month before the actual 7/27 exam. I did not do the writing section on the practice exams.

I feel like the actual MCAT did not play to my strengths, whereas some of the practice exams certainly did. Of course, little sleep the night before did not help (not much I could do bout that).

AAMC #3: 34
AAMC #4: 35
AAMC #5: 38
AAMC #7: 34
AAMC #8: 33
AAMC #9: 36
AAMC #10: 36
AAMC #11: 36

dude i am on the same page, after averaging atleast 27 on my exam...i bombed my verbal. and somehow got 8's on the other 2. Then an R on my writing....lop sided score..might retake in 2013...it definitely hurts when you know you put in so much effort but it just slips away...oh well congrats to those who did well good luck

They all help to get you ready for the actual thing, as long as you keep the differences between them in mind and aim for an appropriate score. If you want a realistic test and only have a short amount of time, I'd recommend going with AAMC (especially the later ones).

I only used the TPR tests (four of them), AAMC (two of them, 3 and 11) and Kaplan (just the free one online). The TPR tests are kinda brutal so if you can do well on them you can expect your actual score to be a bit bumped up from that, or so I've heard from looking online (and that was also my experience).
I thought that the AAMC tests were a good representation of the difficulty of the real thing, the later ones being better.
Kaplan tests are typically a bit easier than the real thing, so shoot for a score a bit higher than what you actually want if you practice using those.

This is just what I've gathered from reading online, you can read around yourself and check it out. It also varies section to section (TPR's physics is a bit easier, AAMC's verbal is a bit longer than either, etc.) so if you're trying to improve a specific section do some research online for that section specifically.

Just wanna see what you all think about this:

I got 33O for my retake (11P 8V 14B) and last year was 29P (11P 6V 12B) .

Will receiving a low verbal score again look bad?? Or do you think I'll be fine?

Just looking for some input.

I'm so scared to check. 🙁

So did I. My heart was about to burst. But then I realized somehow I already know my score, and by knowing sooner I can make earlier decision on whether or not to retake. I'm going to tackle the science section like a beast since there's where I feel that I've let myself down (10/10 for BS/PS). Fairly satisfied with my 9 VR because what else can I do about being an ESL? And Q for writing is a plus. Didn't see that coming. Oh well it's time to do all the EKs that I have set aside (and ignored) then...

HOLY BALLS MOM! lol

AAMC average exam score- 32 (tests 3-11)

actual: 32N

PS- 11
VR-08 (saw that coming)
BS- 13 (that's raw)
writing- N (who cares)

Pretty freaking happy considering I really didnt know what to expect.

Congrats to everyone who has felt the month of anxiety and did well!
