Hey Everyone,
If you are still looking for housing in BU, I have a room available in a 3 bedroom/ 1 bath apartment starting Sept. 1st. The apartment is located in the Fenway/kenmore area in BU's south campus/beacon street (check out the link below). The room is only $600 a month (which includes heat, hot water, electricity, and internet). It is a very good size room, especially for the price. You would be living with two 24 year males, one is entering BU's MAMS program and the other is going to be a first year med student at BU. The room is conveniently located a couple blocks away from where the BU med shuttle picks up. If you are interested, feel free to call me at 215-704-6057 or email me at [email protected].

thanks,

Patrick

Hey all! Well I just got back from Boston after a very bad realitor experience and now I still have no place to live!!! I'm a 23 yo female, very clean, and will be a grad student at BUSM. I like the Back Bay/Fenway places better than those right near the medical campus, so if any girls are still looking for housing or have a place let me know!! Thanks

I suppose I'll throw my hat in the ring too - I'll be in Boston next week (probably Sunday) to find a place and move in. I'm a 23 yo male, non-smoker, clean that's going to HES. I'd like to live as close to campus as possible - but am looking for reasonable rent too. Let me know if you have a room or want a roomate.

I could just imagine what you guys, who are still trying to find a place to live, are going through! I was in your boat just a day ago. I did a lot of research and had some options--but ultimately choose to live at HARRISON COURT(thanks for everyone's input through private messaging). but as for my other options—I’ll post it to you if any of you are interested:

1. Bayrdige residence (single, shared, etc)--includes utility, meals, furnishing, housekeeping. $950-$1275 (based on either shared or single). www.bayridgeresidence.org
2. Harrison Court $900 for a room in a 2 bed/1bath (the room you have is the den)
3. 1 bed/1 bath in a 2bed/2bath apt for $825 0.5 miles from campus.
4. 1 bed in a 3 bed/1 bath duplex across the street from bumc for $988.

Private message me and i'll give you their phone numbers/emails

22y/o male from california, clean, laid back, non smoker, allergic to cats will be joining BU MAMS for fall 06. PM if your looking for a a roomate.

Craigslist is the only way to fly - found a place about 10 mins away from Harvard campus for $500! 🙂

okay guys,

I seriously need some sort of housing starting Oct. 1st near cambridge and the harvard campus. Anything and everything is negotiable... if you know of anything let me know...

thanks

yes let's revive it!

i don't need roomies right now but would like to know if anyone recommends certain agents or real estate companies. i'll be moving from texas so i think i'm going to have to use an agent when i make a trip in june.

Great call. I'm heading to Boston in a few weeks, looking for a place in Cambridge or Somerville (somewhere on the Red Line) and dying for a resource other than Craig's List.

Hello, I am a 22/m starting the HCP at HES in the fall. I'm from Michigan and have never been to Boston. I'd prefer to live close to campus, but having never been there, I am not very familiar with the area. I am looking for potential rommates. Please PM me if you are interested.

hi guys,

im just trying to gauge interest, so excuse the lack of detail. ive been surfing craigslist and the rent in boston was definitely a shocker to me. the way i see it, housing breaks down by cost, location, and # of roomates. the more convenient, more comfortable, and more alone you want to be - the more expensive its going to be. that being said, there are some really nice 4/5 bedroom houses in great areas close to BU that would be extremely affordable if split several ways. personally, im a huge fan of communal living just b/c it can be a great experience if you live with the right people. but of course, im not delusional to the fact that its more difficult to live w/ more people. i was a residential advisor in undergrad so god knows ive heard and lived the horror stories of having inconsiderate roommates. plus logistically theres a lot that goes on with so many people, those 'real world' cribs dont exactly clean themselves. but honestly, if there are 3-4 more people out there who have always been 'the nice one' in the house and are emotionally stable and tidy, then i think its worth a shot.

anyhoo, take a look around craigslist and you'll see what im talking about me. PM me if you're interested, and we'll go from there .....

Hello,

I visited Boston last week, and have to say i love the city! Although, I don't love the rents... it's quite expensive, even for someone coming from NYC. Anyone out there privy to a studio under $900? I don't think I'll find that in Cambridge (I'm attending Harvard Ext this fall), but anywhere near the red line would be cool. PM me. Looking for a 9/1 move-in date.

Also drop me a line if you're starting the HES pre-health program this fall.

Thanks!

Hi there,

I'm also looking for a place to live -- I'm starting the BU MAMS program this Fall. Rent is ridiculously high, and although I won't be able to travel to boston until July, I'd like to get a feel for what area would be best to live in. I heard that the med campus is ghetto, and that the main campus is nice. And something about a good busline in between the two. It'd be ideal to get a roommate to split the insane rent, so please PM me if you're looking to live in the same area, enrolled in the BU MAMS program, female, and pleasant to be around. Thanks!

24M/BUMAMS/anywhere along BUMS bus route

If there are any former students on here looking to get rid of their place, my fiancee and I are looking for a 2 bedroom apt somewhere near BUMS or anywhere along the BUMC bus route.

Anyone going to the Harvard Extension program in the fall... a very affordable neighborhood of Boston is Allston (right across the river from Cambridge, Harvard Business School is here), and though it's heavily inhabited by BU students, there are plenty of nice places to rent and there are a lot of bars and restaurants in the area. Most people just moving to Boston will only know about the T subway in terms of transportation, but there are also buses, and Allston is directly connected to Harvard Square by the 66 bus line. Perpindicular to that is the Green B Line, which takes you downtown in about 20 mins. Craigslist always has tons of rooms advertised for Allston.

The next neighborhood south is Brookline (technically its own city), which is nicer and a bit more expensive, but the whole area kind of blends in together where they meet. Harvard Ave. intersects it all and is the street along which the 66 runs.

Brighton is also in the more affordable range, but unless you're along the Allston border, you won't be conveniently located to the 66, and taking the T from Allston/Brighton to Harvard Sq. is a really roundabout way of getting there (and takes a lot longer!).

Hope this helps... I can answer Boston-area questions if anyone needs it.

Looking to get people's general opinion on my situation. I am waivering between living alone or with others. The main reason for wanting to be alone is living w/ my dog(s). I have two but I will probably leave one at home w/ the parents for a year.

I was wondering if there are indeed people out there willing to live with dogs, provided they are well-behaved and house-broken. Or if anyone else is bringing his/her dog up to Boston and facing the same dilemma. Not looking for a roomie just yet-- doing my research before I dive head-in for the apartment hunt.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

i'm also headed to boston in the fall. i'm going up there next week to find a place to live and check out the city (i've never been there!). i've done a decent amount of apartment research and i think you will have difficulty finding a place that allows dogs. that's just my opinion....could be wrong!

i'm going to be living with 2 other people (one of them will be a MAMS student) and we're looking for a 3bed/2bath. we're using a realtor since none of us know anything about the city. when i get back i'll post what our findings were and how our overall housing search experience went!

I definitely agree w/ you. A quick search on craigslist will confirm the dearth of dog-friendly housing. Just to clarfy for fellow posters: my main intention was to gauge in a general sense if there are people out there who would consider living w/ a pet. Naysayers are more than welcome to respond. Of course in this hypothetical exercise, the logistical details of scoring an apartment, pet deposit, etc, have already been taken care of. I acknowledge that I have a skewed sense of reality being that all of my friends and acquaintances would or do live with dogs.

Looking forward to see what knowledge you'll have gained on your trip, zoolash, thanks!

I have a dog as well, but my parents are adopting it for at least the year. So I love dogs, but I think many people would rather not risk having to live with a dog that that is potentially poorly behaved and difficult to live with. Some dogs are easy to be around, and some require attention. My dog is basically dropping a toy on my lap every moment and can drive people nuts.

I just moved here with a dog. I found a great apartment and a roomate that was cool with the situation on craigslist. however -- i have the option to move out in sept which i am def considering -- the reason being even that although all has seemed to go well, i would say you defintely have to consider the stress you will feel having a dog in an apt with a roomate (esp a roomate you dont know and/or that doesnt have their own dog). i tinhk my dog is really well behaved etc etc but i've just found myself occupied with worry over the situation a lot. i ended up bringing her back home, last weekend, to my parents house for at least the summer. with all the stress of classes etc, it may be an added stress which is why i am considering finding my own place in the fall. if you can afford it, i think it def ease a lot of tension having your own space and routine with your pet. it is harder to find a rental with dogs, but def can be done, as i have seem my sister and many friends do it. in some sense it almost helps that it narrows your search so specifically.....

Socal78 and I are looking for a 3rd roommate. Were looking to pay no more than 700/mo. per person, in a place that is very nice and very close to BUMC. Were both guys that have been out of school for a little bit, so PM if your interested in joining up.

so .. one of our roommates has dropped out on us, so we have 1 room available in a 3 bedroom apartment. I fly up tomorrow to look at places and am hoping to sign a lease by the end of the week to get this nightmare of a process over with.

PM me if you're interested

Be prepared to pay up to 4 months rent at lease signing in Boston - a security deposit, first and last month, plus the agent's fee a/k/a "key money" - this is almost unavoidable through a real estate agent, and even some craiglisters will stick it to you...the area around BUMC sucks as I recall, very "sketchy" (a popular Boston term)...

If anyone is looking to furnish there place...we have 2 large desks, 2 full size beds, a 3 person couch, 2 person couch, 2 bookshelves (5 shelves each), 2 oversized sofa chairs, one ottoman, a 3 table set of coffee tables, a large floorstanding fan w/ ionizer filter, 2 full length mirrors, 4 lamps, kitchenware, etc.

pretty much we have a furnished apartment of two people that we are looking to get rid of ASAP.

We have pictures...so please e-mail if interested. We are GMS students living across the street from school at Harrison Court. Prices are negotiable abd EXTREMELY REASONABLE b/c we are leaving Boston and more concerned about applying to medical school than selling furniture. 🙂

I wish I could have had an opportunity like this because we had to go all over town w/ a U-haul to buy this stuff, and you have to opportunity to rent from the Uhaul down the street, run it over to your own apartment, and be done with moving in....all in less than a couple hours.

There is an elevator in the building so it easy to move.

drop me an e-mail: [email protected]

THANKS

Hi guys,
I am still looking for a female roommate(s). I'm starting the MAMS at BU this fall. Please PM me if you have a vacant room available. Thanks!

23/M/non-smoker/socal/korean-american

lemme know if you need an extra roommate.

Just wanted to post this ad we placed on Craigslist this morning. The building is only 3 blocks from BU school of medicine/public health... and is not as "sketchy" as it used to be... the area has really gentrified over the past several years.

Hey! Looking for a roommate to look for housing - 22/F/non-smoker/BU MAMS program- im from MD but went to school at UMiami - let me know if you're looking for a roommate or if you would like to search for housing together! I'm neat, friendly, and very laid back! Thanks!

Hello,
I just found a three bedroom apartment about 0.4 miles from the BU medical campus(South End). The rent is $1450/month. At $725 per person with only one roommate this is cheaper than most 2 bedrooms in the area. If anyone is interested please contact me via email [email protected] or by phone 817-915-8631.

I am a 23 y/o non smoking male entering the BU MAMS program Fall '07.
