Most DO's are required to provide their own livestock in situations like this. It isn't typically a big deal.

Just curious, but is this because of the AOA requirement calling for a daily animal sacrifice. I know in the five infamous states, the animal sacrifice is pretty much required, but I didnt know it extended outside of that.

your school don't matter that much for most residency programs (which school or MD/DO). He said point-blank- "Study hard, kill the boards, survive your rotations, and you can do whatever you want".

Shhhhhhhhhhh, you're going to upset the pre-meds. Don't say things they don't want to hear. Don't you know they'd rather hear from their uncle's, father's, sister's roommate's daughter's cousin who's an MD that it's impossible for DOs to get a "good" residency.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I noticed that in all the specialties DO's can do, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery was listed. I was unaware that there are were any opportunites for DO's to do this. What opportunites are there for training in OMFS as a DO? I know a few MD's who have done it via OMFS residency which included dental school. Are there any DO's that have done this?

DOs can apply to MD residencies. Maybe that is a way to do it?

I shadowed a OMFS who was DDS/MD, he told me about some DDS/DO OMF surgeons that he met during some of his post grad training. He said there is no competitive edge to either degree with regard to landing the residencies, but the MD route is easier because there are schools (MD) that streamline the transition from dental to medicine and it might be cheaper... then again, he pulled in close to a million last year, so I dont think expense is much of an issue.
