i personally haven't decided on where to go, but i know many people already have. i thought i'd start a thread to officially post where you choose to attend to be apart of the class of 2007 (or 2006 for pacific).

At my interview they said it would be finished by then because it is a condition from the man who donated the money. Its done by Jan. 2004 or no money.

I was debating which school to go among temple, Uni. of maryland, boston, NYU. Now, I am narrowing it down to boston and university of maryland.

Considering tuition and living expense, uni. of maryland is a good choice.

But if I only consider the school itself, exclusive of financial thing, which school would be better?

Any insight will be appreciated.

university of maryland is much better than BU. BU is not worth the money. I've been accepted to both as well and I would pick the University of Maryland had I not got into UPENN.

As for the UMich preclinics, we've been told they are ripping out the D2 preclinics starting in May (? I think) and they're supposed to be done before we return in the fall (not really likely, we'll prolly have to double up for a while, that's just the way things work). As for the D1 lab, the summer after that I'd imagine.

Temple is much better. (in my 2cents opinion) At least there are lots of patients.

If you have the option, I would definately go to Temple. I have contacted people that go to both schools, and I know that those at temple are more happy and more prepared. Also, the debt may not seem like an issue right now, but it will be in 4 years, tufts although it is still a good school, is overpriced, like BU.

that's a hard decision. I liked both schools as well.. I liked Temple because the students seem more relaxed and I saw so many patients. They also had nice facility. Tufts seem more organized and Boston seem like a nice city to live in. If i were you, I would pick Temple. It's certainly cheaper (you can get state residency too). Maybe you can email the students who are in Temple and Tufts and get more inputs. good lucK

Sorry to get off topic but thanks guys. I just got back from my "re-evaluation" trip from both schools. Although many of the students were taking national boards, I was able to speak with some and they gave me GREAT input. Both seem to be what I'm looking for but, as you guys said, Temple students seemed more outgoing and enthusiastic about their program. Furthermore, they seemed to be more confident about themselves in regards to their skills. And lastly, the tuition and cost of living is much better in Philly. After this trip, I guess I'm more 90/10-Temple/Tufts but the only thing keeping me from putting down the deposit is reputation. I know I shouldn't be too concerned with this but it's an old habit that's hard to kick. How is Temple seen in the dental community, especially in California? Thanks

Temple's reputation is great. Even at UCSF, all of my profs talk about the school with respect. It's not easy to get in there. Philly definitely wins over BEAN TOWNbecause it has Cheesteak.
And it's not as cold.

YAY im going to Temple too. Sent in my deposit and bought a sweatshirt on wed. Im a philly girl, so if any of ya are comin in PM me so i can meet up with ya. I think that we need to get a group thread together for financial aide questions and stuff.
And oh yeah, the cheesesteaks are Awesome a definite plus to philly. We have the best food and awesome entertainment!!!!
