So, I heard from Drexel last week & have finally received an acceptance into the MSP Program! As of right now, that looks like that's where I'll end up heading ...Anyone else joining me this fall??

I'll be in the IMS this fall... seems like we will be in the same building though
where are you going to live?

I am currently in the MSP year and considering the IMS year for my MBS. I am selling my books, not sure for how much just yet if anyone is interested let me know.

Also, if you have any questions about living/the program or anything about philly feel free to drop me a message...best of luck to everyone

Joey7 - (my name is Joe, btw- lol). I'm not sure yet, exactly, where I'll be living. I haven't been able to make it down there to see. I also have a friend who lives in Philly. I'm not going to live with him, but he might be willing to find me a place, as he knows the area. Do you mean our classes will be in the same building or living area?? Also, do you know if we receive our material after sent Drexel the deposit??

its my middle name... I'm Dan
I meant the same building, since I thought the msp and ims are both in center city campus
I am living across the street in stiles hall
i was accepted last year and deferred... I know they sent the materials for the year during the summer

Are they still accepting apps, I'd like to get mine ready, and if you don't mind me asking what were your credentials?

3.4+ with 3.8 last 100 semester hours
30 MCAT
I have no clue if they are still accepting... I'd call and ask

Congrats on getting in wingz19! I was accepted to the MSP last year but I deferred for this year so I guess I will be seeing you there. My girlfriend and I are looking for a place right now, but we won't be moving to Philly until July. We are looking for a place somewhere south of campus.

Hello guys. I was accepted to MSP some time back for the Fall 2008 class. I have yet to send in my deposit and am still wondering about some basic questions that have gone, for the most part, unanswered.

Does anyone know where we can find some published statistics on matriculation to schools out of the MSP and IMS years? Do these exist? I know Georgetown SMP loves to flaunt their numbers.

Similarly, does anyone know the average MCAT increase? or at least a realistic expectation? Granted, it varies as much as people do, but there must be some number somewhere that could at least give me a rough guideline.

Unfortunately, I don't know many of those answers in terms of numbers. If I'm not mistaken, I think the greater majority of the class at least continues on into IMS years. That's the extent of the numbers I know of. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. If I find out, I'll post back here!

I am in the MSP and I have asked the office on numerous occasions for some stats with no respond from them. The program is one of the oldest around (I think since 89). I seems to have worked for some people, and not for others. Long story, short: you just need to make it work for you and then it will get you into medical school.

The AVERAGE increase is 6 points, some people went up as much as 10 other didn't go up at all.

About a third of the class continues into the IMS for their MBS.

Keep in mind: if you got accepted that means they thing you have the potential to get into medical school if you complete the MSP. They are not going to accept people who they thing can't eventually get in, that would look poorly on them in the end.

good luck!

Hello, I'm looking for female roommate(s) starting August. I'm looking into moving into Stiles or any other apartment in the city.

A little about me.. I'm from Cali, neat, and love to cook. I'm a grad student at Drexel but on main campus.

PM if you're interested or know anyone who is, thanks!

Thanks for the info. When you say 1/3 of the class goes on to IMS, do you think that is by choice? Or do that many people not get into the IMS year?

Also, I am thinking of planning a trip out there to visit and scope it out. When does your semester end? I am assuming sometime in May? I would really like to get 1st hand knowledge from someone attending both IMS and MSP.

People recommend that you apply after your MSP year. That being said there are other options as to what to do with your time during your application year. I know a few people who did excellent on their MCATs (well above a 30) and decided to stay to show med schools they could handle 1st year med school classes and others that did just as well, but decided not to stay. I think the IMS year can help you or hurt you...med schools don't want to see anything lower than a B when you are taking med school classes.

In my case: I can't see how it can hurt. It will not only show med schools you can handle it, but it will just give you a head start on your first year of medical school.

I think most people decide not to stay because of the associated cost, but I don't want to speak for everyone.

Any specific questions you have for me just PM me.

Hey... my name is Stephanie and I also got accepted to the MSP program for Fall 2008. I have heard good things about this and just wanted to meet some other people who will be in the program. I am from South Jersey, about 20 minutes away from Philly, and will be living in an apt in Center City.

Hey, I was wondering when you all who where accepted were complete and interviewed. I applied for IMS and MSP and was complete about a month ago. I called the office last week and they said my application was waiting for review.
Thanks and congrats!

I spoke with the admissions office today and they said the next application review date will be in two weeks!

Hi guys. So I actually applied for Drexel's DPMS program. But I just found out that I was rejected. When I contacted their office regarding my application, they told me that although I'm not in the running for the DPMS program, I was sent over to the MSP program for further review since I "match" better. Has this situation happen to anyone before? I thought it was weird but I guess all three programs (including IMS) are somewhat interconnected? In any case, I've done my reserach and the MSP program seems to be a great program in and of itself! So here's to more waiting. hahahah.

After a week of being dissed by DPMS, i finally convinced myself that MSP is not a bad option. Although i am still considering St.George for January 2009. If anyone has any insight on this, pls post. I am retaking MCAT on the 10th of May. I feel like i finally nailed the verbal section. Should i stay in the US even if it means delaying med school 1-2 yrs???

applying to the IMS program, just finished the app all I need to do is mail it and pay. Any of you have an idea of my chances of acceptance with 3.23 GPA and 26 MCAT (which I retook on 4-19)? I called and spoke to someone in the office and they said "Oh I think you have a good chance of getting in..." which to me translates into "send us your money and we'll see..."

Just called this afternoon...a review happened today so if you were complete, you should be hearing from them soon about an interview.

i got a call today about an interview

Hi everyone,

I can remember feeling the same way that many of you did anxiously waiting for that interview and phone call. I wish all of you the best and good luck to those of you who have already been accepted! Also, there is alot of information from our MSP class in an old forum called "Drexel MSP".

Does everyone that applies to the MSP program get an interview???

Hey guys, I got interviewed about 1.5 months ago (for the MSP program) and I honestly thought I BOMBED it! It was my 1st interview and I could not, for the life of me, control how nervous I was. But then about 2 weeks later, I found out via e-mail that I got accepted! 🙂 It just goes to show that we tend to be our own worse critics! I'm just relieved to know that I have a few options under my belt with regards to post-bac programs, because I was honestly freaking out about what I would do in the upcoming year if I didn't get into ANY programs! Good luck everyone! 👍 :luck:

Do you guys if it's common for people that enter the MSP program already undergoing the med school application process? If not, do a majority of people apply the year after MSP or do they wait it out until they complete IMS? Thanks!

Hey guys,
I will be in the IMS for fall 2008-2009. I hope to be living in Stiles. I would be willing to live with one to two more people. Please feel free to post message me or respond to this post if you are a female looking for a roommate in Stiles. Thanks!

Any current MSP'ers that can give me the exact names of all the courses that you take, so I can do some research online for their descriptions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all,

I am selling some of the books you need for the MSP year.
Lef me know if you are interested. Hopefully we can work something out and feel free to ask me questions as well.

Hey All,

I am a recent, as of last Friday, graduate of the MSP program! I'm not returning for the second year and have some of the required books that you'll need and am willing to sell them to you for a good price. PM me if you're interested and we can work something out.

Also, I can answer any questions that you have about the program as well. I'm from out of the state and a distance away so if you have questions about travel, etc or just the program in general, don't hesitate to ask!

Thanks!

I was wondering if anyone knows how the Drexel MSP waitlist works? I was interviewed for the program last week of April and I was recently put on "hold" status a few weeks ago. I'm trying to figure out how I can improve my chances of getting into the program since it seems to fit my needs pretty well. Hope someone can fill me in on that. Congrats to those accepted already! Hopefully I'll see you guys in Philly.

Hey everyone,

I just finished the MSP program this year and am also looking to possibly sell my books. Just send me a note if you think you're interested. Also, if you have any questions, you can send me a mesage and I'll try to get back to u as soon as possible.

For those of you who have recently finished the MSP program, how much can your GPA increase if you get a 4.0 in all of your classes? Like 0.05? Or is it more than that?

Thanks!

i got accepted yesterday, june 5th

i am neat..
is there anyone indian or bengali in the program?

Anyone set up a facebook group for this years incoming MSP class yet???

Congratulations to everyone who was accepted to the program and good luck to those who are still waiting. Where are all the accepted students? It seems like the MSP thread in 2007 was more active than 2008. Come on guys, participate 😀

I will be living off campus and working on finaid stuff currently. I will be in Philly next week to go check out some apartments. If anyone else plans to live off-campus and has found a nice place, please share.

See everyone in August

Hey!
Congrats to eveyone who has been accepted. I just made a facebook group for the MSP 08-09 students. Its called "Drexel MSP 2008-09" Please join! I may help us with housing, etc! I am looking forward to meeting everyone!

are you sure you made a group on facebook????

applied to the IMS program a month or so ago. Well I got interviewed for the MSP program yesterday and then got accepted today. I am having second thoughts about it now. I hear that it will take this and the IMS to have a 70% chance at Drexel in two years plus a $60K price tag. I am thinking about working just as hard at a caribbean medical school and be half way through medical school and back in the US in the same about of time.

Is this a stupid idea??

Hi, i am looking for a female roommate to live in the two bedroom apt at Stiles. i'm neat and clean.

i think i bombed my interview... i got nervous...sounded monotone and confusing. i hope i still get in. congrats to all of u who did.

I was in MSP last year and I have old exams for all classes saved in my Computer. It includes many old exams with answers and lectures...basically anything a student is allowed to keep after an exam. If anyone is interested in buying for 200 dollars(negotiable), just message me.

The price is high b/c in hindsight having this material would have saved me a lot of time and would have helped me prepare for the MCAT more than studying for classes. And for 4 classes this past year (Cell Biology, Chem. I/II, and Human Physiology) you will be taught by HORRIBLE profs. that just read off slides and mumble and their exams are very detailed/hard and reading the book is not only time-consuming but it's just not enough to pass well.

Just saying that my old material helps balance the lack of good professors. And we all want to get A's don't we!!!

I have a phone interview with Alex..does anyone know the types of questions they will ask???

Please do not buy any old test material from old students. I am a former MSP student and I did not pay for old tests/materials. I did however buy books from old students. So, myself along with a lot of other past MSP students will not charge you for them, as we would really like to help you guys and want you to do well. If anyone has any questions about MSP feel free to PM me!

I wanted to sell you guys my stuff b/c it's a collection of everything I used to get good grades. I'm selling it for 200 b/c I have everything organized. If the cost is too much, you can split it amongst yourselves. And 200 is nothing compared to tuition, housing etc. I'm sure you can get the same stuff from other people, I just feel that there is value in saving time for future MSP students rather than going on the hunt for materials. Saving time for MCAT studying that is. And who knows if your future classmates will be willing to share...we've had a few problems with our classmates with keeping materials to themselves. So its fine if you don't want to buy my material, but leave it as an option. In hindsight, I wish I had this option, that's all.

In my personal experience, this program just sucks! Let this statistic speak for itself: Only 20 out of 60 people who went to MSP are coming back for IMS. Many were not satisfied with the experience primarily b/c of 2 very bad professors that teach a total of 4 classes, very disorganized administration (ONE example: they give out your MCAT books very late - Late october, early november), and MAINLY b/c the MCAT tutoring was bull. Former MSP students who were too focused on studying for IMS classes were teaching the MCAT classes and it wasn't in depth at all.

If you have more questions just message me. I'm a blunt person that's why my message is harsh.

hey guys got accepted not sure if i wanta go,

any former students? Howd you guys like the program? How was the MCAT review class? The administration?

Thanks
