Yeah, what exactly are you worried about. Give it time, there are people from June and July who still haven't heard back. Your app numbers are quite high, you should be in good shape, barring red flags. The only thing you should be worried about is not understanding the saying, "the early bird gets the worm"

It's easier said than done, but try not to worry. For the most part, it's still early in the cycle. It's only about 3-4 months into the cycle 🙂 There's still around 9 months left of the application cycle since schools accept applicants all the way up to the first day of class, which most likely begins in August of next year. And there's schools that interview applicants even in April... which is about 6 months away. PLUS, some schools haven't even sent out interview invitations yet 🙂 My friend applied to 5 schools last year, applied very late, but received an interview from Tufts, interviewed in February, and got accepted 🙂 Good luck!

Though, to be fair... by Dec1 (based on PreDents members) 75% of the seats are already filled. By the start of February, 95%... so seats fill up fast after Dec1 date.

yepp. Although I would guess that those figures are a little skewed. I'm assuming predents tend to be early applicants, and therefore early interviewees, and are then accepted early.

Still, if I don't get any pre-december interviews I'm going to be pretty worried. :scared:

Predents represents 10% of the application pool.

Predents represents 10% of the application pool.

Just because they represent 10% of the application pool doesn't mean that data is fairly skewed. Take it with a grain it salt, as you do with everything but it does give a good idea.
Think about it, while yes, only certain people would have a PreDent profile, the number of spots at a school remains the same. So it doesn't matter WHO gets the seat, PreDenters or non-PreDenters, the fact is that those seats are taken.

lol everyone needs to relax! there's like another 2.5 months before Dec 1. no need to panic just yet.

u got bout a month 😳🙁😱😕:idea::scared::scared::scared:

That means I only have 1 month??!!
Oh well, I'm pretty sure I won't be getting anymore interviews from schools anyway... I already mentally prepared myself. It seems like the schools I've applied to have already sent out all of their Pre-Dec1 interviews according to PreDents and SDN.

With that said, I still have hope at USC, Tufts, and Roseman since they have NOT started sending out interviews yet. :xf:

well my comment was a follow up to the Dec-1 comment. Of course you still have a very good chance for acceptance but i was just saying that for Dec-1 acceptance for those schools that have given out interviews, the clock is ticking.

and like u mentioned, some schools have not even began to give interviews but those should come withing a month or so time. 👍

My mistake. I thought the post that you guys were using sited the percentage of seats taken using only predents data. So of course I immediately thought there would be pretty massive self-selection bias. I didn't realize that the number of seats actually taken was being used to get the percentage.

I guess I should have searched out this post everyone talks about for myself😳

The only thing you should be worried about is not understanding the saying, "the early bird gets the worm"

Hence my concern.

I had no choice really. Wife got offered promotion (in another state = move), enough credit hour to graduate, but had to take summer classes to do so (so not to lose hours and honors accolade). Which I wasn't planning on taking so I could focus on DAT. Ended up not having a life during the summer, took the DAT 5 days after genetics class ended. Had to wait on my schools pre-health committee letter to get sent out...

So, yeah.. Concerned that I'm late. I know my numbers are good, my timing isn't.

Okay, can officially be taken off the list here..

Just got my first interview invite.

Ohio State University! Woot!

Good work SEAL!

Now you should be worried about boosters paying you on the side and people offering you free tats in exchange for fillings.

Congrats though!

App complete and supplemental mail in dates would help us determine if your file has even been reviewed yet.

If you send out long ago then...
2 guesses:
1.Most or all of the ones you've applied to haven't started sending out interviews
2. HUGE red flag on your app turning schools away from you

I know that's a lot of quotes, but this is exactly what I was getting at. You had an app complete date of 9/12 and got invited for interview on 9/15. 3 days! That's amazing! 👍 See? You had nothing to worry about. People with lower stats are the ones that really need to worry if they don't apply early.

The Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry, Temple University (TEMP). Roseman University of Health Sciences - Utah Campus (USN). Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). University of Washington (WASH). Marquette University (MQT)

I know, I went a little crazy since I didn't get in last year and I only apply to a few schools. I got rejected from Loma Linda a day after I submitted my secondary (I'm glad that they got my $100 though, they really needed my money 😡). I am from WA and want an interview from UW. That was my only interview last year 10/18/2010 and got rejected in March of 2011, which was the saddest day of my life. 🙁

AADSAS mail-out date: 7/29
Most schools received my AADSAS on 8/19

I am really happy for the people that got interviews pre-December, congratulations to all. Dental God, please send a pre-December interview my way:xf:, because I am freaking out!!!!! :scared::scared::scared::scared:

Applied to 10 schools with no word from anywhere.

Undergrad: US Air Force Academy - mechanical engineering
GPA: BCP - 4.0, science - 3.36 (engineering classes brought me down), overall - 3.4
DAT (AA/TS/PAT/Reading): 21/20/22/22 No section <21 except 19 in ochem
Residency: NV
AADSAS submitted: mid June, took DAT in mid July

5 yrs active duty in special ops with two tours in afghanistan and iraq. Varsity athlete, ran ultra marathon and several marathons, TONs of leadership experience, design and manufacture own line of custom tactical gear, volunteer at dental clinic and about 40 hrs shadowing. I know I could probaby beef up my dental experience, but really thought my ECs would make me stand out. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Maybe they put you in the super special/over-qualified pile

sooo....this question seems slightly relevant in the context of this post. for those of you who have applied to a bajillion (read: more than 4, in my world) schools, do the adcoms KNOW how many other schools you've applied to before actually meeting you during the interview? you know they gotta talk. but when?

could that have something to do with the "all quiet on the interview front" situation???

grabbin' at straws here folks. lemme know what you think.

Lol this thread is getting me more and more worried! But at the same time I'm glad I'm not the only one freaking out. Good luck to all!!!!!! A lot of you have some GREAT/GOOD stats and scores. I guess best thing is for all of us to pump each other up. I've been watching a lot of comedy tv shows to keep me in a somewhat good mood. Anyone watch Always sunny in philly? hilarious

Rofl, you're in man. I hesitate to say it, but you sound like you could aim a little higher (get it? hehe). But seriously, you've probably got nothing to worry about. At this stage in the app cycle, there isn't much you can do anyway.

Relax for a bit. Anyone familiar with the Academy knows the cadets have one of the most rigorous undergraduate schedules given everything you have to do besides academics. You have a good DAT, and your GPA isn't shabby. It takes time. I had everything done by July 1 and am just now getting interviews. You're dental shadowing is fine. There's nothing you can do at this point except to sit back and hopefully relax! GL!!

You have some impressive stats, but you have a super late mail date. I got everything done by July 1, and got my first invite to interview August 8th, with the interview happening on the 26th. So it takes time, especially this late in the cycle. Have patience! You'll be okay! GL!

You're going against everyone who says Aug/Sep isn't late! All this conflicting information is just awful.

Word to the wise, my earliest mailing date was Aug 19th and I had an interview from Case on Aug 30th. So it's always difficult to tell. Earlier the better, of course.

grb2sos, I think you should send the admission an short email to see whats up. They might miss your app or something. You have an amazing stats.

you do what you can, unless you take your DAT early in the cycle you will probably have a later mail date, thats OK! Its not SUPER LATE! LOL SDN Paranoia

I'm also of an engineering background. I can relate so much to your stats - 4.0 BCP, lower overall/science GPA due to engineering courses, etc.
However, my DAT is lower. I don't think my ECs are comparable to yours. In addition, I mailed in on Sept 2nd. Lastly, I'm international (Canadian) which doesn't do me any favors.
I did get 2 interviews at this point, so I really don't understand why you haven't. If you don't mind, what schools have you applied to?

You have a mail in date of sep 2 and you got 2 interviews already 😱. I am worried now. My mail date is end of august and haven't received a single interview yet. My DAT and GPA is almost same as yours with lots of ER.
