OFFICIAL Interview Invite Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Anyone hear from the Penn State Adult clinical program? :scared:

I was told that the clinical faculty are meeting this afternoon and will be extending interview invitations in the following week - first by phone, then by e-mail. This information came from the graduate staff assistant.

I was wonder what you guys think of this idea..

Lately I have obsessed with checking my e-mail and this thread to see if any of my school have contacted me or if anyone else has heard. I think this thread is a great idea, but so far we have like 3 invites and 50+ posts. How would folks feel about a thread that was simply interviews and another thread that was more like "Help I'm freaking out," or "I have a question about...?" I think that way it may be easier to sift through interviews versus other question.

Thoughts?

EDIT: Nevermind, I now can edit the first post. Just look at my first post in this thread to get the most up to date list...I will list everything I see that comes up and I check this thread a ton!

Irish, that is great!! Any prof. would be lucky to have you. 🙂

Good Luck Everyone!

I got a call from my person of interest at Vanderbilt this afternoon, I have an interview there on Feb. 9th. He called me earlier in the week as a sort of pre-interview to make sure that I was still interested.

HOWEVER, everyone else who applied there, do not panic, he said that they still hadn't made final decisions of who to interview, and all invites may not even go out for another WEEK OR TWO. He said he just wanted to contact me ASAP because he wanted to make sure I didn't schedule any other interviews, etc, during that time.

I got an interview for U. Alabama- Clinical child track for 2/2 by phone 🙂

Just heard that one of my classmates got an interview from Penn State (Adult Clinical) on Friday afternoon.

I got a call this afternoon from my person of interest at the University of Minnesota. It was 'the interview' as they only do phone interviews and then have a visiting day. He said I should know in a week or two if i got in, etc.

I think that Minnesota is 'interviewing' pretty much all of their people in the next few days, fyi.

Hipinion, thanks for the Minnesota info. Is that the Clinical PhD, Counseling PhD, or CSPP (Counseling) PhD?

Hey All,

I am a new member of the forum, as I was just told about it by a friend.

I applied to 10 different schools, and a variety of both PhD and PsyD programs. I have only heard back from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology (a backup school) for their PsyD program. Interview was either on Jan 22 or Jan 29. I will be flying there for the interview on the 22nd.

I send out emails to the other schools I applied to in Dec. ( George Mason U, George Washington U, Berkeley and Purdue) to see where my application was.

I will update when I get more information. Good luck all!😀

All of my info is for Clinical PhD, sorry I didn't clarify earlier.

Will be calling applicants today (1/16) and tomorrow (1/17) for interview invites.

Clark- Has begun extending invites

Suffolk-will e-mail interview invites by 1/28

Both Clinical

Boston University-Invites will go out last week of January

University of Rhode Island - Invites will go out in the beginning of February.

I received a somewhat cryptic email from the University of Michigan regarding my application (PhD). The email states:

"Your application file has been forwarded to the Area Admissions
Committees. We expect to inform you of an admission decision by late
February. Thank you for your interest in the University of Michigan."

Do you think this means that there are no interviews, or that they will let people know about interviews by late February? At least its something...

I don't think so. To me, that sounds like your application is complete and now they have sent it on to the department. I think it is just a generic email.

*EDIT* In other words, I bet they still have interviews

So its just wait time to hear about interviews then. I wish there was some sort of fast forward button.

I got an interview invite by snail mail from Widener (clinical PsyD) and an e-mail and phone call from PGSP-Standford (also clinical PsyD).

Hey everyone, Im new to the site, and have been checking the forum but thought I ought to post. I applied to 12 programs and have gotten interviews from two: University of Miami and Arizona State. For those of you who also applied to UM but havent gotten an interview invite yet--don't worry! They do a second round of interviews in February (mine is next weekend! so nervous!), and I think each track does it differently.

Hey ilikepsych...if you don't mind my asking, to which track at UM did you apply?

TIA...

I applied to the adult track. Did you apply there? Which track?

Hey Sunshine. I applied to the clinical program at Alabama too only the psych-law concentration. Do you know if your interview is specific to child?? Was is a professor of interest that called? Just curious, want to know if i should give up hope there.

Hey all,

Thanks for the continued updates! I was just wondering if anyone had heard anything about UMass Boston's (clinical PhD) interview invites...

Thanks and Good Luck!

Thanks! I applied to the Health/Clinical track. Feeling a bit nervous now...but congratulations-how awesome for you!

Good luck at the interview and keep us posted (and welcome to SD!).

Hey, manicmonday, I applied to UMass Boston too. They really fell behind in processing application items-I had some major trouble just getting in touch with the graduate admissions coordinator only to get the reply "We are behind-just wait for a letter to tell you what's missing." But they get a lot of mail! =)

No word yet on interviews from them.

I received an e-mail today from my person of interest at Ohio State (adult clinical) requesting to talk this week. He did the same thing last year, a pre-interview phone call followed very closely (maybe within the same phone call) by an interview invitation, which was held the first weekend of February. I'll keep you posted about this if I receive an official invitation.

He might just do things this way; I'm not sure if it is a program-wide process.

Ilikepsych...sorry to bug you again, but did Miami call, email, or snailmail?

Thanks...

It is good to hear from you Joetro...I really can't believe you are going through all of this again though. I read back through this tread from last year and I do remember the OSU posts 🙂. Let us know when you know and good luck!

Thanks, Irish. I often think "what have I gotten myself into/wtf was I thinking?"

Did you not get into OSU last year or did you get in and turn it down? Just wondering why the prof is setting up another phone interview with you if he did the same thing last year...

Is this typical?

😕 Hey everyone.... I have interviews at the Ph.D. program at ASU, U Georgia, and U Miami already!!! The rest of my schools don't seem to have started contacting people yet. Whoo hooo!!! This crazy considering I also applied to law school as well and still haven't exactly made up my mind if I want to get my J.D. or Ph.D. first!!!!

Irish is right--Univ of Michigan does conduct interviews. The last time I applied, a professor called me for phone interviews and then extended an on-campus interview shortly thereafter. G'luck!

thanks for the feedback and info. hopefully by the end of february I will know what is going on with umich.

So I just got an email back from Berkeley, and they let me know that:

"the applications for the Clinical Science program and the applications for the Social/Personality program are being reviewed. It will be several weeks before admission decisions are made and applicants are notified of those decisions."

So for anyone applying to the Berkeley program (PhD), you will have to wait a few more weeks. 🙁

You've missed Penn State Child Clinical as well (someone posted earlier and my friend was invited for 2/2). By the way... thank you for doing this. Although I'm driving myself mad with it, it is great.

Okay, I updated the Penn State Child Clinical. Is there another one I missed? Sorry, it is just like trying to proofread your own paper (for me at least)...I look through it time and time again and never see it.

Any word on when SDSU/UCSD will announce interviews?

Hi there. I am new to this forum (or any for that matter). I am pretty anxious about hearing from schools. I presume your list has to do with those who have rec'd invites to interview... well, that's exactly what I joined this forum for. I don't want to be waiting for something that is not going to come... but then again, i would like to remain hopefull. Thanks

I have had pretty good luck calling the psych dept(s) and asking the admin. assistant. Thus far, everyone I have spoken too has been very nice and very helpful. Heck, you paid the app. fee, go ahead and call.

Anon 15. Thanks for that. You're so right, we did pay a lot of money (GREs, Transcripts, Apps) so we deserve to be treated with a little respect. I am going to call one school right now. 😛 gotta work up my courage

Hi. I am not sure if anyone reads my posts but I did call one program and UNC Chapel Hill is going to let people know around Feb 1st if they want to interview you. Although they did say that had over 400 applicants this year. wow

Dang it, I applied to Chapel Hill this year...UGH. Oh well, maybe I will be one of the select. I will add it to the list.

Since it is my undergrad school I thought I would check on it and let everyone know. I talked with the department secretary today and she said that the professors all just got the applications to start sorting through and interview calls will be made late January to early February for interviews around the 21st of February (she said the dates but I forgot them). It also sounded like apps are up here as well but I am not positive about that. Good luck to any ND applicants.
