I don't knwo if anyone else applied to Memphis but I just got off the phone with them and they said it will still be awhile before we hear anything. She said that they will start letting peopel know later february. At least I know I havent been rejected to at least oen of my schools now!

P.S. Thanks for the post Josh

I know Guelph has contacted people about interviews (clinical psych). Waterloo hasn't even started to look at the applications yet...so no need to worry...last year Waterloo's interviews were around mid - late Feb...so you still have plenty of time. Don't know about any other Canadian schools unfortunately...

Thanks, tkj. I haven't heard from UBC or Simon Fraser, but I have received a few letters from UVIC saying they've passed my application on for review.

I am pretty sure that Memphis doesn't conduct interviews for their clinical psyc Ph.D. program. At least they didn't last year...

if anyone applied to northeastern's counseling phd program, i received an email today inviting me to interview on mar.12. i believe this is the only day they will be holding the interviews.

and, i spoke to an administrative assistant for UMass's psych department, and she said that decisions for interview invites will be made on jan. 30, with interview invitations to follow that night and on jan.31. the interviews will be conducted on feb. 9 and feb.16

Was that UMass Boston? TIA...

sorry, i didn't realize i didn't clarify....yeah, it was umass boston that i was referring to

Cool, thanks for that. Hopefully we will hear something from them...

Hey Sunshine11, got the same email from UVa! I'll be heading there on the 9th...I think if I wait until the 23rd I'll just be freaking myself out.

Just heard from Boston U. Yay! Be seeing some of you there 🙂

I applied there too! I am really nervous now i didnt think they would start invites uniil tomorrow. This is my #1 top choice school and i am afraid i wont get an interview. I applied there last year and went to the interview and didnt get in. Here is what the day was like for you lucky people who already got invites. You meet with three different faculty (ones that match your interests) and also you have interview with graduate students. The students there were really great and some will give you advice about the faculty you are going to talk to. I interviewed with Dewey Cornell and Ann Loper last time and they asked the standard questions. Cornell will ask about your family and this is supposed to give him some kind of psychodynamic insight about you (according to a graduate student who warned me ahead of time last year). He also asked about my hobbies. Mostly they expected me to do most of the talking and ask most of the questions. Again im sure they are all different. Last year we also ate lunch in an assigned group with a faculty member and graduate student. I dont know if that helps at all, but i just thought id share since i was there last year!

Hey, this is my first post but I've been checking this thing religiously. Just wondering..for those of you who have already received BU invites, would you mind saying who you applied to work with or at least if it was with someone working in the anxiety disorder clinic? Thanks so much in advance!

Got the interview!!!! 2/16

Just talked to Northwestern (Evanston PhD Program). They say the apps are currently being reviewed and the interview date is Feb 16th (tenative). No word on when calls will go out...but it sounds like soon.

This is getting a little nuts. I'm going to be gone every weekend in Febuary. Its going to be interesting trying to juggle this with work. Don't get me wrong...this is deff a good prob to have.

Which Columbia program are you talking about on the first page "official list?" Clinical or School?

For Fordham, it says "Fordham (interviews by early Feb)," does that mean invites went out, or that invites are going to go out by early Feb?

I would like to know about columbia as well since this is the only program I applied to counseling psych phd and not clinical. thanks!! irish, you are the um...the thingy that doesn't move in a violent and uncertain storm.

On Columbia, I would assume clinical but I just post what people tell me 🙂. I try to say school or neuro if it is a different specialty (everyone assumes Clinical otherwise) so that is my best guess, but I could be wrong as well. I will bounce that back to the board...if you have heard from Columbia, what was it for?

My source on Fordham didn't know when invites would go out or if they had, but they wanted to let you know about when Fordham's interviews were so you could plan accordingly.

Sorry I don't know more on Columbia!

Would it be more helpful if our list only included DEFINITE dates of contact and interviews?

This is getting a little muddled, IMO.

Just my $.02

I don't see any prob with the list at it is. I appriciate as much info as possible. Feeling informed gives me a sense of control...which I am deff lacking ATM.

Hey, I've just called many of the Clinical PsyD programs in CA to check in. Not everywhere has called me back yet, so here's what I know.

Alliant International University: Will send out a conf. email letting you know your application is complete. They are still not done inputting all the apps into the comp, so I was told not to worry that my info wasn't in the comp. The lady said give it a couple days. Processing takes 1 1/2 weeks. Contact individual campuses for interview dates.

Argosy University (OC and SF): My apps have been reviewed and processed at both places. SF: already have interview, they are flexible with interview scheduling. OC: got notification in mail telling me they got my app... expecting a call next week to schedule interview (not sure if this means IF I get an interview, or that I already got one...)

California Institute of Integral Studies: I called today and left a message. No word at all, but they did cash my check...

Phillips Graduate Institute: Got mail telling me they received app. They said to expect notification in 2 1/2 weeks (I figure 2/13 or 2/14), and they want to start interviews ASAP.

University of La Verne: (this is Clinical-Community Psych) Apps will be under review next week, interview invites will be extended either next week or the week after. The first scheduled interview date is Feb 16th.

I hope this helped someone other than me!! Good luck to everyone and congrats on getting all these interviews!!!

Those that got the early invites from UVA - Curry would you mind telling me your stats (GPA, GRE) just so I can gauge myself ya know? If you dont want to post it feel free to PM me! Thanks soo much

Thanks for the info, Famousams! They did say the 26th, so don't give up hope yet. But I know how you feel - I'm hoping that BU has just misplaced my phone number...🙂

hey, I was just wondering about interviews. With one particular professor, for a couple of months now, it's been pretty informal and I'm used to calling him by his first name. Should I at the interview be formal and say Dr. XYZ? It sounds so weird, but I don't want to come across as not professional. what do ppl suggest? THANKS!

Has this person said it's fine to call him/her by his/her first name? I personally always use Dr. so and so, but that's just me. If this person is more of a "call me Dave" kind of person then I'm sure the first name is fine.

In any event, I don't think this will be the make-or-break thing.

I shoud also add my two cents that professors are often looking for someone with a particular interest, skill, previous experience, etc, so don't take anything personally. There is no way to predict or prepare sometimes for what they are looking for. This may sound scary, but it should also put you at ease that there isn't anything you could have done differently. You just have to go with what you have.

I would ere on the side of caution and start with Dr. so and so, especially if there are other people around. He'll probably ask you to call him by his first name right away anyway, but let it be his decision.

EDIT: Due to a really good idea by someone who PMed me, I am going to try to pick out the definitive ones and make them bold. Let me know what you think when you see it. I have the old version saved if you all hate it.

I just noticed that someone posted the interview date for Ball State's counseling psych program. I assume I got rejected since I haven't heard anything. I must have missed that post back somewhere through these threads. When did you hear from them, and by what means, whoever posted?

Just FYI...UNC just sent out the official interview email. It looks like a listserv mass email so I'm thinking they are done inviting.

FYI-for anyone who applied to Northwestern (Evanston clinical)-it looks like they have begun making decisions. I visited my online application link this morning and the decision was posted on my page.

How many people do they normally interview?

Well last year i went on the second interview day and i would say there were about 25 people. Now i cant say how many went to the first interview day but i feel like most waited for the second one because it gives you more time. Im guessing they interviewed around 40 or so. Cant say for sure though. Oh and for any of you who have never been there......UVA is BEAUTIFUL!!!!

CUNY is going to have another round of interviews. Apparently by January 5th all invites will be sent out. I'm still hoping to get one!

Has anyone heard from Drexel or Suffolk? Thanks!

I applied to Drexel and Suffolk too...no word yet. Someone said Suffolk was sending out invites by the 28th? I don't know if that's right. No news at all from Drexel. I guess we just keep waiting! This is driving me mad.

I just spoke with someone at Clark and no decision has been made yet about invites for interviews.

I have been religiously checking my Inbox for a Suffolk invite, but it does seem odd that we'd hear by this Sunday. I'll investigate if I have time today.

My friend has an interview there and received the invite last week. Perhaps it's on a rolling basis? I will try to find out the date and post it.

Well today would seem to be the day then, unless they are meeting this weekend as well.

I agree, it seems strange to receive an e-mail on Sat or Sun. Good Luck!

That's strange...for the clinical PhD?

Just called American and FSU. Florida State's interview weekend is Feb10th. The secretary said they are currently in the process of extending them and if you don't hear anything by next week, that means you didn't get one.

American said they will be extending interviews in Early Feb.
