OFFICIAL Interview Invite Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I have been in contact with my POI via email for a couple months at UMass. So, getting the sinking feeling that I was not getting an interview, I asked her yesterday if she had already notified the students she was inviting for an interview. She told me yes. So, count me as rejected for UMass Boston.

Sorry to hear that man. Better luck next time

Well, I have a post-interview rejection from the University of Tulsa today. Suck. 🙁

However, I will tell you guys that don't give up based on news from this thread. Someone posted on here a while back that Northern Illinois University had sent out interviews, so I counted myself out. I juste received an e-mail from my PoI inviting me for that interview. So don't give up!

But the weird thing was that I read the e-mail and five minutes later got a phone call from my dad about the rejection letter. Crazy day.

Congrats! I'll be there with you after all. 🙂 Who's your POI?

There doesn't seem to be much talk on these two schools. I know one person heard from Pitt, but there should be more, right??

I'm waiting on UIC, but I don't think it's likely I'll get an interview. I'll post when I hear anything. 🙂

So, we have an interview thread and a rejection thread. Who gets to start the acceptance thread? Just so we can boggle our minds a bit more.

LOL

My mind feels boggled enough as it is. I hope the acceptance threads stay away for at least a few more weeks.

Yeppers, I suspect the acceptance thread would depress me more than the rejection thread.

We will need one of those soon enough, would you like to start it when the time comes? I can, of course, but if you check the forum enough you may as well! I won't be offended, though I will miss the power.

Hipinion, Did MN post anything on your online app?

I just checked, and there's no update on my MN app (or the other school I've been accepted to for that matter).

I emailed U. South Carolina and they said final decisions havent been made, and interview invites should be sent out at the end of the week or the beginning of next week.

I think an acceptance thread is a great idea. Not that I've been accepted anywhere, but at least it shows that it's possible!

Already started . . . with hipinion's UMinnesota acceptance.

can anyone provide insight into madison's status as "clinical apps should hear by 2/2..where did you get that from? what does it nmean? thanks..

Here is the official invite list. I will post invites as I see them but please tell me if I am missing any. Also, if possible, say if it is social/clinical/etc.

For those who do not know, this is a listing of the schools who have extended interviews or, in some cases, when they plan on extending interviews. If they haven't yet extended interviews, I have put the date in which they plan on extending interview invitations in (). I am just adding to this list as I see them in the thread.

Those that have for sure offered at least a few interview invites are bolded. If I mess up, please let me know! I will also try to put recent updates in italics, though I will try to unitalicize them every week, so just check back at least that often 🙂.

Muahahaha, I HAVE THE POWER!

Already started . . . with hipinion's UMinnesota acceptance.

please note..i have mixed feelings about this that i jjust want to throw out there....there's a school where ive been accepted bc they nominated me for a fellowship..i dont think this info is salient for others, as they would only knw if they had already been contacted a month back re: the fellowship..and it doesnt probvide any info prospectively for applicants who are interviewing..make sense?

my point is just to keep in mind that this post will not be as comprehensive as the other threads per se bc for example, i dont find it appropriate to post this acceptance..these are all dicey issues and i just thought id share my thoghts🙂

in a more public domain, i received an offer from minnesota's joint child-clinical program, but that of course is posted on the interview thread already..not yet on acceptances

The same basic thing happened to me at another school - I was accepted pre-interview because I was nominated for fellowships, but I was asked not to say anything about it until after interviews (not UMinn).

I've heard absolutely nothing from UW-Madison, which is a little surprising to me because I felt like my interests matched up really well with their entire department. I would assume they've already sent out invitations or will very soon (their deadline was quite late I think... Jan 5th?).

Makes perfect sense! Only post what you feel comfortable with--particularly with fellowship issues that may be separate from the general acceptances. Might make some even more nervous had they not heard from the particular program.

Hey! Just wanted to let those who are interested in Waterloo know that all initial phone interview invites have been sent out and that professors have almost completed them. I'm pretty excited - I got a follow-up interview!

Dang, so much for my chances at fellowships. Oh well, an offer of admission will be fine 🙂.

We all know this is a public forum and that the data is only as good as people are willing to post on a public forum. Please DO NOT feel pressure to post anything you are not comfortable posting. We appreciate the fact that you are here and we do value your privacy. Hopefully at the end you can tell all though 🙂 if you want of course!

You never know--someone offered a fellowship may turn it down, leaving it open for another applicant OR there are some programs that do not review fellowship acceptances until after you've interviewed . . . so as you probably still have some interviews left, you could still end up with one!

Dr. Orcutt is the primary, although I also mentioned Dr. Wu in my SoP.

Sweet! Dr. Orcutt was my tertiary in my PS (now my secondary since my primary recently decided not to accept students for the upcoming year due to personal issues). I almost chose Dr. Wu for my 3rd interview but decided on Dr. Valentiner for it. And, my current primary (and the one who invited me) is Dr. Rosenbaum.

hehe, hope you followed all of that. I'm a bit incoherent--my head's really bothering me.

I'm still slightly disappointed that I do not get to interview with my initial primary but I would still be psyched to work with Dr. Rosenbaum and NIU is tops of my list anyway.

Are you going to the social the night before?

G'luck!

I actually did follow that. I know that relying on secondaries can be tricky, but I think you'll be fine. 😎

As for the social, probably not. I'm still figuring out how I'm going to get there. I'm actually presenting at the SEPA conference in New Orleans the afternoon before the Open House, so I'm going to be all over the place. By the looks of it, I may not get into Chicago until very late, so the interview day will be rough. Wonderful timing, eh?

Good luck to you too!

Eck! I was contemplating the SEPA conference and am now glad that I opted against it because of the interview day. I'm actually driving up . . . what fun! So, I may be just as "rough" when I arrive.

Just wanted to jump in on all the NIU talk. I've also been invited to an interview. I'm interested in working with Lovejoy & Pittman. And I'll be attending the social the night before.

Good luck to the both of you, as well.🙂

It is too bad Professor Gutierrez isn't there any longer or I would probably be with you guys! It is also too bad because Professor White is the wife of my honors thesis professor. Funny how that happens.

Gutierrez would have brought me there as well!

oh you guys are pessimists ! 😛

I can see how it could be depressing to some though.

I'll list mine just in case it helps someone out or gives some hope to someone that hasn't heard anything yet- cuz you may be in the elusive second round!

I have received official rejections from U Georgia (email), U Illinois- Urbana Champaign (letter), U Michigan (letter), and U Virginia (letter).

I can't get to the online page for U Michigan ... ugh! If I haven't got a letter, nor have I received an invite - what does that mean? (And congrats, Serotonin on your invites - UT Austin & Nebreaska, that I can remember, right?)

I knew there was someone else here who had received an interview but could not remember who. Hope to see you there! And, g'luck!

Good thing he's not then--less competition for us! 😀 j/k

Seriously though, I agree with you both. Gutierrez was ranked slightly higher on the list than many of their faculty for me . . . but still lower than my first three so I can easily live with it. I simply had to replace him as my fourth. 🙁 I still would have enjoyed chatting with him on interview day though . . .

I just got an invite from Bowling Green-I guess they are still extending interview invites!

For those of you awaiting a response from Auburn U, they advised that it will be "another week or two" before they make decisions regarding who to invite.

Thanks so much! I am ultra excited about them and will be psyched to get in at either place.

If you haven't received a rejection letter within the next few weeks from Michigan, I'd say hold out hope!

Did anyone else on here get an interview with U Texas- Austin? If so, could you please PM me cuz I have a question!

I'm now thoroughly confused regarding UT-Austin. I know serotonin has received an invite but I just spoke with "them" earlier this morning regarding something else and the person indicated invitations were not out yet. 😕 So, maybe not everyone has gotten to theirs? Of course, now that my name has come across a desk or two, I suspect I have "difficult applicant" stamped across my file. (Through no fault of my own! Their computer system glitched my essay 😡 ) I hate being in limbo!

I definitely got a very personal email from my POI. And then he set up a phone interview with me, and then he invited me to fly down and check out his lab (which I take as a good sign, right?).

I have not received anything from the school though at all.

Who was your POI, paramour? Mine is the neuropsych guy, Dr. Tucker. Maybe the rest of the program will send out emails or calls later, as from what I understand the neuropsych department is pretty separate (ie they are a 50/50 clinical/research whereas the rest is much more research focused)

Good luck!

Anyone else apply here? The list says they will notify early Feb - just wondering if anyone knows more about that or has heard something from them.

I mentioned Drs. Meston & Fromme in my personal statement. Unfortunately, after checking their info recently, it now states Meston is not accepting this year but Fromme will do so for her lab. It seems my luck that half the people I want to work with anywhere either leave, quit accepting students due to massive health/personal concerns or any other number of reasons. But, we shall see I suppose!

Congrats again on the invite! I contemplated neuropsych for a while and still hope to take some courses in the area but eventually opted to choose another area--perhaps a mistake since my choices are more limited now.

G'luck in Austin & UNL! I'm sure you will do fine.

URI - I've tried calling them a few times to play anonymous applicant but kept getting their voicemail message.

 Probably. I was trying to get through to another program for the last week and a half regarding a non-interview question. I kept getting the blasted machine. I just got through this morning.

If they would keep us up-to-date sooner though, they would not have to worry about the calls. 😀

Hello. I applied there and have not heard from them yet. I am thinking we should know soon! I will keep you posted if I receive an invite.

Their interview isn't until March 5th - or so the website says - which is my birthday!!! 😛 I guess they have time to string us URI hopefuls along...

Serotonin is correct - the neuropsych is seperate from the other labs at UT. I believe the UT decisions are sent out on a more rolling basis as they don't have official interview weekends. Don't consider yourself out yet! I didn't apply to UT, but I did my undergrad there and remember it being that way for incoming grad students. Good luck with Fromme - she is great to work with!
