OFFICIAL Interview Invite Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I just got off the phone with my POI! She invited me to come to UW Feb. 26 or 27.

I'm... in shock... and I'm dancing inside and out!

btw... I'm interviewing for the adult clinical program.

Good luck everyone!

congrats!
losing my mind - did he/she ask you any q's or just invite you straight off the bat?!

must have made your heart jump to hear him/her on the phone!

i applied to adult program too, i think a diff. POI though. what date are you interviewing?!

She just asked if I was still interested in the program and then invited me. (I had two phone interviews prior to this call). I got an email from my new grad student contact and she says its all day the 26th and most of the day the 27th. I'll be meeting with a lot of lab people and the director of clinical training and the clinic coordinator, among others. Apparently I will be bombarded with half-hour interviews for two whole days! It will be a miracle if I survive!

Who is your POI, if I may ask?

I haven't seen anyone post about actually getting an invite from U. Tennessee.... just wondering whether I should give up hope on that school. my list is dwindling down quickly.

I applied to GWU and I haven't heard anything as of yet. I figured they would be interviewing rather early, but I guess I was wrong. I don't know much about their admission/interview process.

I emailed GWU about when they'd be alerting applicants as to whether they got an interview or not, and here was the answer:

"We usually select our interview pool the first week in February, and try to schedule our interviews by the beginning of March."

I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!!!

Hi all,

Just found out about this site during an interview last weekend...i'm afraid that I'm going to get hooked!!

Does anyone know anything about interviews for the University of Delaware? Also, do we know if Fordham, U. Rochester and U. Pittsburgh are finished sending out invites?

Thanks!!

No word from UD. I have been calling and can't even get in contact with anyone who knows anything!

I just received an invite from UMBC. My POI called.

when you guys say neuropsychology, do you mean within the psychology realm or more of psychiatric neuroscience? any of you do functional neuroimaging work?

Yes and yes. I'm particularly interested in exploring the neural bases of mood and anxiety disorders, and I work in fMRI research.

Um, there was a voicemail on my work phone this morning from my POI at...dum dum dum...Harvard.

She's gonna call again today. OMG. I might have a heart attack.

Awesome! Congrats and g'luck--hopefully it will be good news.

I really didn't expect to hear from them at this point. I feel so elated right now!

Maybe they are still reviewing apps? Good luck anyway!

And you should!!! That's awesome!!!! Good luck with the call!

I applied there too, but guess I didn't make the cut ack.

yeah, I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss them (although I've done it with several of my programs if someone posts they've received a phone call, email, etc.). We've seen a few posters who indicated they received invites to places close to 2-3 weeks after other people had already posted they were going to x, y, or z for an interview. Frustrating, but I suppose everyone works at a different pace.

I just got an offer from Penn State! I'm in shock!!! 😀

I suppose you're right about that. Have to say, this whole application process is quite the emotional roller coaster :scared:. I'm generally always on an even keel, but it's hard not to get wrapped up in the 'woohoo i got an interview, crap I got a rejection' cycle.

I'm the same way--I do not tend to get emotional or react much whether it's positive/negative. That being said, I danced around for a week after I received one of my INTERVIEW invitations. It made up for the two previous rejections and it's actually carried over so I'm not so irked about the rejections I've received since then. Of course, I suspect my reaction is also dependent upon the program. Although I would like to go to some of them, most of my rejections thus far have come from schools where I was only a semi-match at best, whereas the two I have received interviews from are great matches and I would likely squeal like a little girl if I got into 'em.

Who knows what will happen if I actually receive an acceptance!

Having been through the application cycle last year when I was totally unprepared for the process and getting no interviews, it's hard for me not to get worked up when I hear from schools I've applied to this year. I think we're all familiar with the "my future is riding on my applications" feeling. Even if it's not entirely logical.

Let's keep one another informed.
Best,
*ella:luck:

I am also waiting to hear from Tennessee. The date is getting closer and closer!

Hey all-

Just got a call from the graduate secretary at NW Feinberg (for clinical, neuropsychology track). Apparently they have made their initial interview offers, but I am on the wait list. 😳 That's better than a flat-out rejection, I guess. I love that program.

A friend of mine got a University of Texas Southwestern interview offer this morning for the clinical psych program. Interviews are Feb 24th.

So where are those of you attending interviews at VTech on the 16th, GSU on the second interview date, the 20th, or UNCG.....?
I feel like UNCG is more on a personal invitation to interview with your POI vs. a mass invitation to an interview weekend but perhaps there are others attending on the 26th?

I like the idea of a secret handshake 😀

Anybody any word from Buffalo?? I am beginning to think i have a rejection comoing my way!! They were supposed to notify of offers soon.

Still nothing on my end.... besides lots of anxiety.

Thanks for the reply! I think we are the only ones for Buffalo. I wish they hadnt told me they would make acceptance offers in the coming weeks. Then i wouldnt be so concerned about the silence!

I just received an email invite to interview at Nova Southeastern on March 12th. This is for clinical PhD, it looked like a form email, and there has been no POI contact from them (did I cover all the bases?🙂 )

I keep checking their website daily, but all it says is no decision. I wish they would say something already! Their website says "Our admissions interview day will be held in Monday, February 26, 2007." But I haven't seen anyone on this board say anything about an interview letter. Perhaps they will come out soon?

So, I decided to be completely obnoxious and call URI today to see what they would say about interview invites - it is pretty much the last school I am waiting to hear anything from. I got some girl on the phone (finally) and she said that they will be "sending out the letters this week or next". And so I asked her if she meant interview invitations by postal mail. And she said yes.

This is weird. Was she lying to me? I don't think any other schools have done interview invites by postal mail.... 😎

It is possible that she wasn't lying. I received one interview invite via snail mail. Although it was preceeded by a call from my POI...

Well, yeah, I had the same experience. Guess I'm just being paranoid.

I also received an interview via snail mail. I would imagine its less common than email or phone call, but it does happen. Now we all will have to watch out mail box, email box, and phone voicemails!😱

Actually I received one of mine by snail mail, so it does happen.

I spoke with them last week, and they were very vague...they said they'd be making decisions regarding invites "over the next couple of weeks." Hmm.

I had mentally categorized my mailbox as an area reserved solely for rejections. Doh!

Hey I have a question for you all..I am planning a spring break vacation right now (it's the last chance in 5 years and I've saved the money) but I don't want to be gone over any potential interview dates and I still have 5 schools that haven't extended invites. Does anyone know what the latest possible dates for interviews are? Specifically if anyone knows about Kansas, North Texas, or Baylor dates that would be great..My trip is March 17-23 so I think I should be ok but I don't want to take any risks...thanks for your opinions!

did you check their respective websites? many times they publicize the interview dates (and strangely, not the dates when they inform candidates of interviews 😡 ). I would start there if you haven't already.

One of my fellow interns at the counseling center that I work at is a doc student at UNT's counseling psych program. I can e-mail her to ask -- are you applying for clinical or counseling?

Baylor usually has interviews early to mid-March, so you might be cutting it close.

Thanks for the help! They are all clinical programs

I know I've already asked this question, but because there are 2-3 new pages a day, our messages often get lost and unanswered. So...

Does anyone know if CUNY (clinical) and Fordham (child and family specialization) Ph.D. are finished sending out invites?

Has anyone heard from Central Michigan? Anyone else applied there?

Called the grad secretary last week and she said that they would make final invite decisions yesterday. I haven't heard anything yet, but it's hard not to be too anal and expect them to invite everyone on the day that they decide.

Waiting sucks kids!!!

Spoke to grad. admissions today...

Sending out invites via SNAIL MAIL (can you believe it!?!) this week or next.
