Hey there everyone! Figured I'd start this thread since I recently started preparing for the June 18th MCAT. For those of you who are taking the June 2nd MCAT, June 18th MCAT, or still considering one of those two dates, feel free to post here with any questions, comments, concerns, or support you have to offer!

Good luck to you all! Let's crush it.

Lol I still don't believe it for some reason 🤔 I keep thinking there's got to be some mistake. I've been VERY behind on my MCAT study schedule. I haven't even taken a full-length practice test other than the AAMC unscored yet! Plus, I still have some content review to finish, and I've done very little practice. I'm testing on June 18th, and I've been freaking out.

I'm at the stage where I'm giving up hope so this is very surprising to me. I wish to score at least a 512 so hopefully I can reach that!

Stop with the neuroticism! You are doing better than anyone in this thread (with the exception of walloobi I believe)

I'm praying that I don't do worse than my 508-509 scored score. I've heard you're supposed to subtract 2 from your scored, and i've also heard you add 2-3 points. I'm so confused, and it probably doesn't matter at this point haha. C/P will make or break me.

Feels like a lot of us are right in the same score range. +/- 2 pts gives 507-511. I'd be ecstatic about 511 and might have to think about retaking at 507. Such a thin margin.

I think I'm addicted to studying. Keep thinking "just one more video" and suddenly I'm halfway through the gastrointestinal tract.

Lol Khan academy can be addicting. 508 is a good score when you think about it, as it's a 30 on the old scale. But for some reason, 510 (32) is the new score to be competitive to MD schools. Throw in that my sgpa is about a 3.45 from a bad semester, I really need a 510 haha

I'm a sub-3.0 GPA recovery person going into an SMP, so I really want that strong score.

I'm in the same boat with my GPA. I swear it's just because the even number sounds good. I've been shooting for a 508 thinking that would be good enough, but I guess not. 🙁

If you haven't taken the scored yet and still have time, then I highly recommend you take it. That is a better predictor of your performance. In fact, if I remember correctly, someone here calculated and found that there is a high correlation between the scored and the real one.

I'd be okay with 508-509, very happy with 510-512, ecstatic bouncing off the walls euphoria with 513-515, and literally wouldn't believe anything above that. I just never want to have to retake so anything acceptable and I'll be pleased

My GPA is 3.8 so I have a little more leeway, but I REALLY want to get 508+. Life would be soo much easier to at least know that a majority of people with that score get accepted. Seems like if you hit 508+, something else will probably be the reason why you don't get accepted.

GOOD LUCK TOMORROW EVERYONE!! WE'VE ALL SPENT COUNTLESS HOURS TO KILL THIS TEST AND I KNOW EACH ONE OF YALL ARE GOING TO GET THE SCORE YOU WANT IF YOU JUST BELIEVE! Worst thing you can do is feel nervous because you'll miss the simplest of questions ever. Take this into consideration. There are people dumber than you that have done better on this test. Why? Because they all 1) didnt overcomplicate ANYTHING and 2) walked in with a smile on their face, thinking back to all the time they put into this and 3) simply did the best as they could do. Follow these 3 and you will walk in with so much confidence yall will kill this exam.

This is a dumb question, but are we allowed to have a lunch bag? The rules make it sound like we have to take our food out of any bag we bring.

You guys.. I'd be happy with a 507 and pretty content with a 505. I've talked with some admissions faculty and most of them told me they would be content with a MCAT in the 75th percentile for someone like me who has a quite low gpa. This was also said from an admissions director of a pretty awesome/popular school with whom I had a phone interview with. You don't need over a 510 (although it would certainly help) so it's all good!

Also, for the first time around I had become obsessed with translating my scores and percentages into what I should expect on the real deal. Unfortunately, the score predictor was quite off. I ended up scoring just a point or 2 above my Kaplan FL scores. I was expecting to have done so much better as everywhere I had read stated that you should expect a higher score than Kaplan. Not sure what got me on the real deal, but the point of me sharing this was to say that obsessing over score translations is mostly a waste of time. A group of my friends did not reach their predicted score ranges (we fell below). None of them shared their final scores on sdn.

I wasn't allowed to bring one. They actually took everything out of my bag and put it into a big ziploc bag. Not sure how other testing centers are though.

When you say predicted scores do you mean scored score or unscored calculated score?

Taking the MCAT tomorrow, like so many people on here.

Total lurker on this thread and extreeemely late, but we've got this guys!

This is my 3rd time taking it (I know, I know), but I feel pretty confident this time around. I think my main focus is going to be trying to not freak out during the exam - I think I've trained my nerves well for that (I hope).

Just wanted to spread some good vibes and positivity. We've all worked so hard and are gonna have to prove to AAMC that we know our stuff. Let's do this and make the sacrifices we've made for this exam worth it.

You did well on the scored aamc! You've totally got this. 🙂

Thank you for the optimism!! I'm off for the night now haha

Thank you everybody for all of the advice you've all been so amazing and helpful! Best possible social support group out there!

To all the June 2nders, best of luck to all of you!

Depends on the testing center, but my guess would be that you should be able to. I called my testing center this morning because I wanted to check up on their cell phone policy. The center I'm booked at gives everyone a locker to put their belongings in. You should be fine, but I'd give your testing center a call just to be sure since it may vary from place to place.

Pulled this from the Offical January 2016 MCAT Thread:
"
Got a 511 with 128/126/130/127.

I know this is not a score nearly as high as some of the ones I've seen on here, but I would like to really give out two messages that I feel should be taken into consideration for those currently in the struggle.

1. I've seen a lot of posts saying the study technique you choose doesn't really matter, since the MCAT is basically a measure of IQ. Although I agree that the MCAT sorta leans on IQ-testing a bit, I also believe that someone with average smartness/IQ/whatever you wanna call it can do well simply by going through the preparation process with true grit and relentless perseverance.
I was scoring around the low 500's (499-503) on all of my TPR exams less than a month before my test day. Over the holiday break, I took an MCAT every day for 2-3 weeks. I'd wake up at 6, go through the morning ritual I'd perform on test day (going to Starbucks and reading the New York Times), take the exam from 8am-4ish, take an hour break, and then go over missed questions and their concepts from 5pm-11pm. At the end of the two or so weeks, I scored around a 512 on my diagnostic. I am by no means a genius (you can probably infer that since my MCAT score isn't extraordinarily special), but for those of you who are studying for it right now, trying to break that 510 barrier, I say keep marching...because consistent action does work on this exam.

2. I came out of the exam thinking I had absolutely demolished cars but been demolished myself in B/B. Today, I found out that quite the opposite happened. I honestly have no absolute idea what I may have done wrong in cars...but I am also equally clueless on how I managed to do the best on all of those experimental genetics passages that had always wrecked me in my practice exams. Basically, moral of the story is that it may be hard to get a gauge on how you do on the MCAT...sometimes you may think you have the right idea, and it turns out being the opposite. So when you're fighting what seems to be a losing battle through the Chem/Phys section and you think it may have gone terribly, don't give up. During your break, shake the dirt off your shoulder, wash your face, and go in motivated for the next section. Who knows? Your C/P section just may be the highest 😉.

Goodluck to all! You got this.

Do you really think that you'll get a 506? My range has been 508-511 as well, and this scares me!
I guess I just translated that 509 to be generous considering the CARS was pretty easy and I've never scored that high on it. Even if it's a 507, that's my best score yet and I'd be happy with that for this practice test. Although I'm hoping it will balance out with my P/S being unusually low for me, so maybe it's about right. I still have AAMC scored to take and all 4 of the EK exams, so I'm hoping it's a 509+ on test day!
I think your range is pretty indicative, so I would say if 508 is your low, then that's a good thing!

AAMC unscored:

64%/74%/63%/81%

UGH... NEED to get my sciences higher!

Overall though, I'm not TOO upset about this. 70% correct compared to my NSFL2 which was 67% correct. So a little improvement. There's still time to improve...

Quite upset about CARS though. Really felt I could have done better on it. C/P also, considering I spent about 10 minutes on 1 of the discrete questions because I could not wrap my head around it.

Where'd you get that score predictor? Nice job! Looks like you're just a little bit above where I am at. We got this!
Do an SDN search for "AAMC unscored percentages" or somewhere around that and there's a thread that says "TENTATIVE" and there's an Excel sheet you type percentages into. You did great on P/S!

I see. Well I'm right in the middle of 9-10 on every score and 10-11 for P/S. So I just need to get myself up to about 70-75% on C/P and B/S, 80% on CARS, and stay where I'm at for P/S. Seems manageable!

Also, AAMC CARS is much harder than NS (in my opinion). Despite only missing 4 more questions, I really felt like the questions were quite a bit more difficult. A lot more inferring outside of the text. Most were still easy though. The passages seemed to be at about the same comprehension difficulty. I'm probably going to get ruined by the scored seeing as practically everyone scores 80%+ on the unscored CARS...

Also checking out for the night, too. Good luck everyone! I heard someone on here once say that how you feel leaving the exam has NO bearing on how you actually did. Just plow through and trust yourself. Goodnight, y'all.

Good luck everyone!! We know all the material hands down, it's just a matter of applying it. I asked my dog how she thought it would go and she licked my face, so maybe that's a good sign?

Is this for MD or DO? The schools i'm applying to are mostly lower tier/mid tier, and their average GPA and MCAT all tend to be 3.6/3.7 and MCAT around 30-32. Obviously that's the average, so some get higher and some get lower, but that's strange that they would be happy with a 27-28 with a low gpa? Or maybe SDN creates paranoia that we all have to have 4.0 and 528s to get into med school haha

I didn't get in with a 4.0 and 29 MCAT. II to two schools and WL at both.

The person above said that the med school would be fine with him having a low GPA and a low MCAT. I'm confused, since many people have higher in both and don't get in. Maybe i'm just going crazy because i'm taking the test tmmrw haha

Everyone is different. MCAT/GPA is just one portion of the application. Usually there is cutoffs, but there are ALWAYS exceptions.

What state, if you don't mind me asking?

Did you already apply??
To med school? Nope, submitting app next week. To SMP? Yep, was accepted at 3 of them and looking forward to attending.

Did anyone have their test center call them today? I heard that happens sometimes? I didn't hear anything personally. I just got to my motel and decided to practice the drive to the test center and it is so confusing. Like, it is in a business park and there are zero signs and the AAMC website just has an address, not even a name or other info that would help me find it. Hopefully I find other people I can follow in the morning. In better news, my motel isn't the best, but is definitely not the nightmare the online reviews painted it as.

At least your motel isn't bad! Good luck finding it tomorrow, and good luck on the test! Get some sleep 🙂

Mine called me and told me to get there an hour earlier so they can process everyone. Looks like it will be a full crowd tmmrw.

These were MD. I only applied to that one particular top-tier school to get verified while I waited for my MCAT score that came out in October and knew I wouldn't have a chance. Surprisingly, they were more than happy to provide me with feedback. I'm pretty sure 75th percentile is in between a 29 and a 30 on the old mcat. My gpa is <3.5 but a tremendous upward trend. So.... it gives me hope and I hope it relaxes some of you.

When you say predicted scores do you mean scored score or unscored calculated score?

Sent from my iPhone using SDN mobile
I was referring to unscored percentages since the scored wasn't out yet. I'm sorry!! I hope my post didn't really bring down your confidence down! I just meant for people to not bank on predicted scores as I had done. If you consistently scored around the same range then it's more dependable. You will do great.. I know it!

Got a 61% on the Psych/Soc section bank. Is that super awful? :\ I felt like a lot of the questions were super easy with the data interpretation. I wish they'd put in more graphs and tables because that's always what really throws me off!
