The point of this thread is not to predict when acceptances are given out, nor to theorize whether or not you'll get one based on when you interviewed, but rather to share to others when you ACTUALLY receive them

If the waiting game doesn't seem appealing, I suggest finding a hobby to keep you busy in the meantime

Clearly your hobby is to just reply every time I post on here, doomsey. The name of this thread is the INTERVIEW/ACCEPTANCE thread so my question revolving around ACCEPTANCE is valid. Thanks for your input though.

Does anyone besides Dooms Day Doctor have any input on when we can expect acceptances to go out next? He can't be the only soul on here answering questions? If he is then we are all doomed. Anyway my question is for my fellow sympathizers who are waiting on post-interview news, not some comic book character who already got accepted to Murderland.

Thank you HK. I think so too. So if someone has a question revolving around when acceptances can be expected or if anyone has heard word from the school, it should be answered positively. Agreed.

Well since I go to Maryland let me chime in on acceptances... but first: since people wanted to ask why @Incis0r was still on this forum, isn't @Keklel waiting to hear back from TMDAS schools and preparing for a Tufts interview? So in other words, if you come on this forum and you aren't interested in Maryland in the slightest, don't point fingers at your fellow peers. Anyway good luck to everyone waiting. I say expect something at the week's end. And in the future if someone asks a simple question about when to hear back, I suggest you all either ignore it or answer it accordingly with nothing but helpful information.

You should start a thread on inconsistent and false SDN conspiracies. First you accused me of being a pre dent and now you're accusing me of being another poster who is applying. Go prepare for your Tufts interview man. And if you need clarification I sent @Incis0r my credentials on being a student at Maryland. I have no reason to be asking the things @NicoPresto asks on here. Anyway you seem to need some sort of entertainment so whatever floats your boat

Hope he's amusing enough to distract you from not hearing back from Maryland..... personally I find his view to just be an opinion shared by a lot of people.

What are some of the pluses? As a D3, can you provide some insight as to what you've enjoyed about the school the last 2.5 years? You seem to have a perspective that many do not have, I ask please share your wisdom (positive and negative) so people can be as informed as they can. This would be useful to a number of current applicants, as well as applicants in future cycles.

Pluses:
-exam schedule is pretty flexible and you don't have too many exams in one day at any time, but it's still a lot of work to cover
-summer after D1 is off
-Diamond Scholars program
-the UMB shuttle is convenient but if you don't live close to a shuttle stop, the walks to shuttle can be sketchy
-group projects are fun....sometimes
-nice gym
-library is nice
-externships can be done at private practices
-global dental volunteering (but this is available at many schools, mind you)
-the SIM lab is helpful for preparing you for future patients but all that SIM lab entails is working on CPR style dummies but still cool

Minuses:
-favoritism is apparent in clinics, especially from kids in my class whose parents are dean's faculty members in clinic
-clinic is hectic and chair time is hard to come by unless you're a favorite in some clinics
-leftover requirements can cause you to work overtime and past graduation
-location, which I thoroughly went over: by the way, if you live in a row house with street parking expect your car to get broken into
-the boards are a b*tch of a test to take
-cliquey classmates and competition: DO NOT LIVE WITH YOUR CLASSMATES, I REPEAT DO NOT. I personally live with my family but classmates living together has caused so many riffs and drama
-if you don't get previous students' old exams passed down to you for lectures that have exams, good luck. Some classes really require that you know the style of the professor to do well
-for some reason, some of my classmates have a chip on their shoulder and this is just a common "Maryland Dental" attitude that many have and if you care about developing good patient relationships then snap out of it fast
-least favorite lab: prosthodontics
-some teachers make you do things according to the old textbook style and it is just so aggravating
 
What I forgot to add is that if you piss off a professor who hates Mediasite by not showing up and just viewing Mediasite, that professor will make your life a living hell. Saw it happen to some of my peers
 
Are interviews generally scheduled on Wednesdays only?

I like how you said I'm the one that argued a lot, when you're doing a mighty fine job yourself. Learn to take a joke and move on...no one wants to, nor cares enough to go through the effort of finding out who you are. But when it comes to my real name it's all fair game, that right? You didn't hesitate to use it when you pm'ed me after someone else told you
 
Geez when did this thread get so doom and gloom?

On a side note, given the crime in the area, why doesn't UMD allow concealed carry on campus? If I was a student on campus (mind you I know nothing about the area) from the perspective that hopefuldent has been giving, that would be a huge safety benefit to all students.

Ok this is where it will start getting serious.
Wait a minute so a PM by me in private is the same as a forum thread post by another member who gave proof that he goes to UMB??????? meanwhile I actually just interviewed on the date specified but am getting criticized publicly for identifiers on my profile that are not accurate and were generated randomly (such as gender) upon creation of the profile? And how many people do you know keep long term SDN profiles if they aren't admins? If you scroll and look all over this forum you will see that many people are long time lurkers because you don't need a profile to look at the threads, you only need one to comment.

Ok can this forum thread please go back to talking about future interviews and acceptances like it is intended for? I'm really tired of @dr.d00m and @Keklel and @blablabla1 drawing entertainment out of this from one student's views on the school when the whole point of the thread is for professional reasons
