MUNCHKINS!!!!!

It is short and fat. They should call it the "Milwaukee Breed".

That thing's hind legs are too tall. Reminds me of a funny car.

So for my tv ... no reset buttons or fancy lights. Tried plugging it in to several other outlets that I know work. No luck. I don't understand how it would work fine one day, then not even attempt to turn on the next without being moved around or anything.

Are TVs generally fixable, or do I need to start thinking about getting a new one?

Thanks for the suggestions.

My old digital camera totally died on me overnight once when I lived in England. That was fun.

Sorry... there's nothing useful in this post. I'm just procrastinating from going to bed.

You could try looking up a TV repair place. I would think it would be cheaper than buying a new set. Try "Emergency TV Service." I still remember their jingle from the commercials that used to play on daytime TV during the summer.

Speaking of things with short legs running, we're entering Chili in the Dachshund races at German Fest this weekend. They're from 12-4 on Saturday, if anyone is planning on being there. Should be a hoot.

Or if anyone wants to have even more fun, I'm renting a Uhaul on Saturday. Who doesn't love lifting furniture?

What sucks is that I have a truck for 7am - 2:30pm. I didn't even know places open that early. I'm gonna try to call and get a later time.

actually, in the vein of getting things fixed, any thoughts on where I can take my sony notebook computer? I'm scared that it'll cost a bundle to get it fixed, but I want to at least try.

I'm with pratik, April - you should try to find a used TV. Repair bills are guaranteed to be $100 at least and could easily exceed the cost of a replacement. My brother got a $1200+ HDTV from Craigslist for $600. I picked up a 55" monster for $300 two years ago.

Best Buy has a Geek Squad - they can send it in for an estimate. Don't hold your breath - replacing the backlight on my laptop was going to cost me $650. I bought a desktop with 4x the power instead, for about $720.

watched an episode (more like 8) of Doogie Howser last night.

My favorite moment: this guy comes up to Doogie and introduces himself as a new first year radiology resident. He was wearing a stethoscope around his neck. 😕

I was at this party earlier tonight and some guy hooked me up with this incredible "X" - next thing I know I'm being thrown out of a moving car. I've been trippin' balls ever since.

Ugh... I just woke up from a >1hr nap. I had really wanted to go biking up in Ozaukee Cty today, but it looks like there's a thing of thunderstorms hanging around right there for the past few hours. =( I hope they at least make it here, so I can see the storms.

maybe he was doing a preliminary year?

woo hoo, upgraded this beast to 3 GB of RAM. That's three times the size of the hard drive on my first Windows computer  and about 192 times as much RAM that was on that computer.

I'm at Children's on Pediatric Urology... surgical sub-I, just what I always wanted for my birthday! (Don't get too excited kids, it's at the end of the month).

wow what a coincidence! i have neuro orientation fhen neuroICU. ob/gyn not sure. i've got a call and email in to dr. lund, cuz i'm still trying to avoid froedtert. it's snowballed to a huge issue where people think i don't like froedtert. ugh

I'll be doing Peds outpatient on Mon. and Tues. at the Children's outpatient Allergy clinic and on Wed. and Thurs. at a private Peds clinic in Menomonee Falls somewhere. Looking forward to a break from inpatient as a change of pace.

Marc, is that purple team? I was on that one. Go team.

Is that to say that you have Fridays off, then?

My clipboard was a blue Abilify clipboard. I left it behind for the next lucky psych student at the VA.

Well, not so much. I work all day Monday and Tuesday, mornings on Wednesday with lectures all afternoon, mornings on Thursday with a workshop on 1 Thursday afternoon during the month, and have workshops on 2 Friday mornings and lectures every Friday afternoon. So roughly that works out to 3 Thursday half-days and 2 Friday half-days off this month for me (some people have an even easier schedule). Oh, and no weekends and no call.

the Friday workshops are so....well. you won't get much out of them. but they're okay. (easy)

Know:

Durkee: read about hypospadias, posterior urethral valves, and cloacal extrophy. he likes to have you draw diagrams of these things.

Balcom: Always wear eyewear in the OR. Know the things you may find in the spermatic cord besides the usual (appendix testes and epididymis, adrenal rest etc. [and their embryological origin], the structures found in the umbilical cord (mention wharton's jelly), the various pathologies of the urachus and the omphalomesenteric duct (patent, sinus, cyst, diverticulum).

Mitchell is nice, and doesn't pimp much, but when he does, watch out. He is (and I'm not kidding) probably the world's leading pediatric urologist, and he wrote the book on cloacal and bladder extrophy.

Mesrobian never pimped me, but I only saw him for a half day.

Other quick pearls:

You get adenocarcinoma in a urachal diverticulum, meckels diverticulum is from the omphalomesenteric duct, and a fibrous remnant (can't remember the name) of the omphalo- causes volvulus.

Know the Meier-Weigert law for ureteral duplication: the ureteral orifice (UO) upper pole ureter drains medially and inferior to the UO of the lower pole. The lower pole is more likely to reflux, and the upper pole is more likely to be obstructed.

Best I can do in five minutes.

Hope it helps.

You know I mean no offense at all when I say that this blurb helped me officially rule out urology as a career.

My mom said that in yesterday's paper they had an article about Froedtert being one of the top hospitals in the US for 3 things: Urology, Nephrology and Endocrinology.

Note: No neuro. When my mom 1st told me, I thought she said "neuro" instead of "uro." I was scared.

i also heard it's one of the top hospitals that is oftentimes misspelled. luckily for you, Ashers, you got it right.

if it's at Froedtert and you see Emily Allred, tell her I said hi. She's a NICU nurse, and she's about 5' even.
