Official MCW Class of 2009 Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
For those who are curious, I'm wearing flannel pajama pants and a white undershirt (in preparation for dressing up for another pointless CER function this afternoon).

Now my day is complete.

We actually had 2 good lectures today. It was amazing. I've totally lowered my expectation for any lectures.

You know what's NOT good motivation for studying... hanging out with post-match M4s mid-week before exams (and during spring break -- that is if your spring break consisted of studying). They have too much fun.

I've already started mentally planning my M4 shenanigans post-match. They will outshadow every college-themed party movie ever made, including Old School.

It will be glorious. But for now, back to learning the 1,877,344 tumors that can ravage the female reproductive tract.

Word? ...the naked mile, van wilder??? I'm going to clear my schedule for that month just in case.

And now I'm glad that god removed the bad rib from us to make them and their disease prone naughty bits.

🙁

I liked your self-tattooing attempts today.

turn that frown upside down. i just want to see your butt in pink fleecy pants again.

and thank you. i find using the ballpoint pen tattooing method to be much faster, less painful, and easily replaced/modified. but i do have a real tattoo somewhere, and only a few select people know about it.

I didn't see it when we made sweet, sweet love in the parking lot... then again, I had my eyes shut the whole time.

Yep, still at work.

and because you had your eyes closed, you probably still don't know why I ran away screaming.

You know, I always use pre-exam weeks to get caught up on new albums that I haven't had a chance to listen to yet, and every single time it makes me want to just drop out of school right now, get a job at Starbucks, start a band and try to make it big.

Screw you, Modest Mouse, for making medical school so damned depressing.

Edit: By the way, if all of you promise not to laugh at it too much, I can make anyone curious copies of my previous band's demo EP (including the rare recording of our fan-favorite song "F*ck You B!tch" co-written by yours truly).

I think you can write bitch and not have it censored...

EDIT - sure 'nuff.

I'm having some great lethargy issues right now. I went to poker night last night at my old roommate's house until 2am, went to bed at 3am, woke up at 2 pm, dropped the wifey off at work and came to school. And haven't been getting much done, and now Call of Duty 2 is calling me to whip out the MP44 and go on a rampage.

i have somehow resisted my xbox for well over a week now. I don't really know how I've done that.

Stupid Mayo......the stuff's just everywhere.....

I think this should be a mandatory part of anti-drug education.

That's all well and good, but we learned this block that aside from the dangers of IV needle use, there are absolutely no long-term effects to using heroin. So shoot, shoot, shoot away, I say! Just make sure you're using a clean needle everytime!

Thanks Dr. Bloom, for finally proving Neil Young wrong once and for all.

Ok, so fine, mu-agonists are good. Heck, I've got some lying around my apartment. 😀 Legally obtained mind you.

One can do amazing work while mu-agonized. Samuel Taylor Coleridge was on opium when he wrote Kubla Khan. However, the day I went to pharm while on darvocet was a BAD idea (when Auchampach lectured). Darvocet made health policy better.

Edit: Oh, wait... back to STC. I hated writing the stupid essays analyzing his poetry for my senior project in high school for AP English lit, so back to the original point, no drugs, ever, bad for people who might become poets. I just become dopey and tired (but apparently I could develop tolerance to the sedation).

Oh, Ashleigh, you just reaffirmed to me why I put in minimum effort in high school. Plus I hated english class. Senior year got C's and a D for the 4th quarter. The best part - my parents didn't care cuz they knew I hated it so much. They didn't even show me my report card when it came in the mail, I just happened upon it one day. Maybe english would've been better with these drugs you speak of...

If someone wants to deter heroin use, just show the movie "Requiem for a Dream." You'll never want to do heroin again. Or diet pills.

Robbins has some great sentences in it.

Initially one of my favorites was the description of the spleen, "It is enclosed within a thin, glistening, slate-gray connective tissue capsule, through which dusky red, friable splenic parenchyma is seen." That sounds like it could come from a bad romance novel or something. My life with the Spleen! (Not the Spleen from Mystery Men if any of you have seen that.) After reading the section on ovaries, I realized "glistening" is a majorly overused adjective in Robbins.

Now my new favorite sentence is (with the previous sentence for context) "The origin of tertomas has been a matter of fascination for centuries. Some common beliefs blamed witches, nightmares, or adultery with the devil."

Mock not those people who spent college majoring in English and/or Creative Writing, lest ye be mocked.

should I watch that movie? I've heard interesting things about it...

That, or "Trainspotting," which will at least deter anyone from using it in suppository form. (Video NSFW)

Someone save me!

Indeed, nor those who minored in English Lit. Ye shalt not only be mocked by the mockee, but the purity in grammar and spelling in such mockery shalt make the mocker weep with regret.

I should watch Trainspotting again sometime. The only time I've seen it was when I was living in La Crosse, and I was definitely not sober.

As for you english majors...I couldn't really follow what you said. Damn old english. All I got was to mock you, right?

How long are y'all staying at the library? I might stop by for a little socializing/study break for y'all. Yep, I used y'all three times. Love it.

Off to do a thoracentesis. Or two.

I'll be here until suppertime as well. Then maybe off to grab supper with the wife before returning to the library (assuming I haven't finished up all of my targeted lectures for the day by that point).

So yeah. If you stop by, make sure you guys grab me from the very northwest corner of the library.

Northwest, you say? Hmm... *spins around in a circle like a five year old* Gotcha. I'm attempting to escape from the VA right now.

Sorry Xandie, won't see me at all. I avoid the library - that place gives me the creeps. I tend to study more at Starbucks, but haven't even been going there as much lately. (not cuz of money though - I earn gift cards online through a points website)

So unless you stop by my house...

Any chance I could get a linky and free caffeinated goodness?! 😀

I am here. I can see Marc from where I'm sitting, but I'm scared of him.

Huh? I clean it constantly.

M-2s! Stop studying and give me something to do! Write stuff.

Qdoba warms my heart during a good study session.

though I think it might actually be heartburn.

Oh yeah! And then it's your birthday! And then you're 25... good times.

I was serious about bringing Chinese food over. Or maybe a cupcake...

chinese food would actually be very bad for me tomorrow. but it is very much appreciated!

Happy Birthday Marc!

Happy April Fool's Day to the rest of you. Don't believe anything Marc says today.

How am I supposed to IM you if you're not on AIM?

Happy Birthday Marc!!!!!! :hardy:

Happy Birthday, Splatty! Hope the library doesn't eat your soul too much!

We're having fun here. It's a party with Cadbury Mini-eggs.

You guys could always play, "Guess where the ninja is" if you get bored with your eggs.

Hint: He's somewhere in the library.
