Haha, I've seen a ton of stuff here in London already - we're actually kinda bored today. 😛 Don't worry, I've been doing my share of fun things. 😉 We leave for Paris in 36 hours or so. I'm pumped.

EDIT - so I'm 4000 miles from home, and they're playing the same crap on the radio. D'oh.

Keep it up buddy...bored in London. What kind of crap is that. You're cruisin' for a bruisin'. :meanie:

Yeah! My dad got mad at my brother when he said he was bored in London after he had been there I think 5 times. I don't get bored in London, and I lived there for a year, and this has been the first year I haven't gone back since 2003. =( Go squirrel fishing. That's fun, and it confuses everyone in St. James' Park.

Edit: Virgin Radio and Xfm tends to play a lot of stuff from the British Isles/Europe in addition to US stuff. They're how I found out about snowpatrol, muse, kt tunstall, travis, way before they came to the states. Actually, I found out about the Killers (Las Vegas) by listening to Virgin online.

Edit some more: The London Aquarium is really fun. Or go on the London Eye. Go do something. Go find curry.

Hmmmm.... I didn't think OCPs were protective against STDs. At least that's what the commercials say.

That's what I thought, too, which is why I'm confused about the mechanism...maybe it makes the repro. tract inhospitable to the bugs? 😕 Doesn't sound likely to me. I haven't been able to find anything online about it.

Jesse, here's a good example of a Kaplan question where they had to get their creative juices flowing in order to avoid using a buzzword: "Funduscopic examination reveals peripheral macular pallor with accentuation of the reddish color of the choroid centrally in the macula in both eyes." (i.e., a cherry-red spot on the macula). 🙄

PS: I found a new avatar for you. I really think it's plays up your dangerous side:

In case anyone ever has a spider crawling out of their sink... scrubbing bubbles will NOT kill it. I tried twice with that and water before I had to kill it. I hate arthropods!!! ewwwwwww.... i had to crunch a spider. :scared:

I got a new apartment. Who wants to help me move in July? You know you want to.

I will but only if you wait until the hottest, muggiest day of the year.

Yeah, but at least it was probably the cleanest spider you've ever killed.

depends on when, and what Peds is putting me through, but I will if I can! though I really shouldn't if you're going to be leaving me behind at Normandy.

just let me know.

You know you want to.

Translation: free beer. Right? Riiiiiight? 😀

I'm in as long as Peds isn't kicking my bum around too hard and my wife has no big plans for us.

Xandie, I'm going to describe a guy and I want you to tell me if he's in your class. He's been hanging around the library a couple of days this past week, and I wanna know if he's a med student or not.

He's tall, brown hair with some gel in it, fairly handsome face. He wears button down shirts that are about twice as large as what would fit him, and he leaves the top three buttons undone so the collar is always splayed wide around his neck and hanging over his back. Cuffs of his shirt are rolled up a couple of times to 3/4 length. His pants are also too large, and he walked around with his shoe untied all day on Monday. He always has a Children's badge visible, but I haven't been able to see if there's an MCW or Froedtert badge behind it. Today he's wearing a stethoscope around his neck.

Do you know who this guy is? I know that isn't the most specific description, but I figure if anyone would pay attention to details like these, you would. I just find it bizarre that he would dress this way, because it looks really unprofessional and white-trashy, so I can't imagine what he might be doing in the hospital.

Wow, so many moving volunteers. I'm on medicine in July. 😡 Hopefully I'll be on outpatient, so I'll have more than a couple days in the month to get it done. Could be interesting. The lazy side of me looked up Two Men and a Truck. $98/hour!!! Holy cow!

When I moved into Normandy, it was in the low 90s, humid, and it was just me, my mom, and my grandma. It was a long day.

Andy, that guy you described sounds really odd. And his clothing choices make me cringe.

i heard that he steals children from the hospital and sells them into slavery in Ohio. either that or he steals just their kidneys.

Ya know, sometimes I think they really do want to keep med school to the upper class. I hate money.

Our financial aid won't be available until July 3, at noon. Which means I probably won't get it to the bank by 3pm, and it'll be posted as the next day, which is a holiday, so it doesn't count. Then it takes 2 business days to clear the check at the bank. So essentially I'll have no money until July 9.

Tell me, how the hell am I going to pay rent and my many other bills due at the beginning of the month. I think I'm screwed. 🙁

Edit: sorry, just had to let that out.

Thanks Pratik!

Yes, I'll provide beer.

So I think I figured out the money thing. The school banks at M&I. So just cash the check there, then deposit the cash at my bank, which would be available immediately. M&I probably won't be happy cashing several thousand dollars though.

I have no idea who that guy is.

April, you can give a deposit slip to Jean Sunby and she'll send it over to the bank right away when she gets the check (a popular choice for the 3rd and 4th years, especially for away rotations/interviewing in January). So that might help, since it'll be hard for you to get over there on her business hours anyway, since the only day you have time off is Wednesday afternoon and she's closed July 4. Where are you moving to?

And for Don and I: Three more weeks.

Thanks Xandie!!! I had no idea you can do that. Does she mail it to the bank or how does that work? I was in her office this afternoon, and she didn't say anything about that option. It came up because I thought we were gonna get our aid on the 2nd.

Tricky cause rent for my new place is due on the 3rd, and for the current place is 9am on the 4th. (yup, double rent for one month)

My new place is 6807 Terrace Court. Just off 68th a few blocks south of State Street.

I love my Normandy apartment, but it's been causing me a lot of financial trouble over the last couple years. I have no choice but to downsize.

wish you didn't have to leave me 🙁 you and I have had a lot of fun here together over the last 2 years.

She's mentioned it to me before, and Linda mentioned it today, so I'm 99.99999% sure it's still an option. 🙂

Peds in July. Inpatient, plan on being done between 3 and 4, unless you're on call, in which case you have to be there until 10 or your intern lets you go. Mornings start at around 6 or 6:30 to pre-round, with formal teaching rounds starting at 7:30 (I think). Xandie, correct me if I'm wrong. It was so long ago. 😉

For outpatient, your schedule will be even easier, with weekends off.

I keep looking at biochem, and I still don't get it. I even looked at our notes from last year.

Stop it, stop it, stop it, stop it.

Stop is really a stupidly spelled word if you think about it.

Edit: On second thought, I'd better not post that link.

Don: I'll help you with your personal statement if you want. Honestly. I'm super.

And yep, he's right about peds... although I got in at 7 each day. Teaching rounds 8-830, team teaching 830 to 930 and then rounds 930 to 11ish. But usually out by 3-4ish unless you're on call.
My outpatient was 930 to 5 on full days, 930 to noon on my halfs. Good times. No weekends.

Wait... what link... was it a brain stem lesion link?

No brain stem lesions for you. Only sleepy and subsequent standardized superiority.

I don't believe this... I haven't had a migraine in about half a week, and I get one tonight, and it's not going away. Stupid migraines. If I get neuro questions, I hope they revolve around migraines and the median nerve and not brain stem/spinal cord lesions.

Stop obsessing. You may not even get a single question about them.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh....

Actually, OB has turned out to be not bad. I can see the appeal, as it has a lot of parallels with urology. By which I mean, medical and surgical management, etc.

I think uro-gyn would be a pretty cool subspecialty.

Ok, I guess maybe i should go try to go to bed, so I can have my hippocampus consolidate what I learned/studied (mostly from finishing up Qbank, Don) then the random, I'm really weak at this subject (which just happens to be a lot of small subjects.

I hope I can sleep in past 5:30 tomorrow, or else I may start studying again in the morning.

Babies scare me, and I wouldn't want to work with only women.

Yay, future determining test tomorrow. Ortho or endocrine... Qbank+score predictor say maybe ortho whatever NBME decides to give me = determinant.

Sleep well, and good luck tomorrow.

Take snacks.

Oh, by the way, Don... I volunteered to make spam musubi on Friday for Splat since he and I wanted it. You gonna be on campus again?

Edit: going to bed, but so people don't think I'm commitably crazy, even though I'm starting on psych. I have to be at school on Friday for a financial aid appointment.

Ashleigh, isn't your exam tomorrow? Relax and go to bed!! You've studied hard, you'll do great!!

Sorry about your migraine though. That sucks. I've got a sore throat and a pressurized head. I don't usually take anything, but went out and bought stuff today so I could study.

So what'll be my medicine schedule?

Edit: Whoa, it took me a long time to post that. I see now that your exam for sure is tomorrow. Good luck!!!

Yep. thanks =) I'll give you guys a general summary tomorrow after I'm done. I doubt I'll be acutely inhibiting my CYP 2E1s. Have too much to do.

Feel better, April!

edit: i even replied after you edited it. 😉 haha... i'd better be able to read tomorrow... i sometimes have issues with that.

before you leave...at the pool: you, me, 2 beers, a rubber band, and the stuffed panda bear. just like old times.

These old times?
