Thanks everyone!!!

Yup, I got today off. And I slept in. 😀 Thought about going to the brewers game today (some people went for Ian's birthday today), but i'm tired, and gotta pack and stuff. Plus the game is at 1 today. If it was a night game, I woulda gone. It was sleep over baseball. My brother's coming into town for a few days, so I think we're going to the game on wed.

What were you doing at said classmate's house at midnight on a Friday?

did you realize you were texting me?

she said you texted her telling her to wear a helmet on her bike then she got up to go to the bathroom so I took her phone. I wasn't at her house though. We were at the Y-Not 2

I just went through all my M1 papers and filed stuff away. Rain in the morning = no work. Of course, it's not raining now....I feel borderline guilty because my wife is at work, and I'm not. Oh well.

I also sorted all the exams I got from my big sib so I can pass them along. 50% of the 10 inch stack of papers were old phys exams. Good bye....

Weird. Just had a second dream that I cheated on my wife with somebody from school.

I don't even think Splat or Gimlet are that good looking! :meanie:

I like it when the girl gets mad at you for something you did in one of THEIR dreams. What the hell

Plural? Well played.

My Mom stopped speaking to me for a week once because of a dream she had. Special times.

Plural? Well played.
well, in one dream, I had previously slept with a girl from high school (had a huge huge crush on her sophomore year of HS) and was in the act of sleeping with a girl from our class as the dream was progressing. this was like three weeks ago, the night after I'd told my wife I could never cheat on her and lie about it. So of course I dreamt I was cheating on her.

then last night, I was back at it, with a different girl from our class. I don't quite remember how far things went.

Now I feel dirty.

I got to help sew up an orthotopic neobladder today.

😀

This concludes my mid-Sub-I SDN post.

I watched women urinate or try not to urinate, for about six hours.

However, I did get tasty food from the drug reps. Boo on Froedtert for taking those away from me!

I'm in the DEXA lab tomorrow afternoon. I was at Planned Parenthood this afternoon. Wednesday I'm doing something super secret, in the afternoon. I'm at the VA on Thursday afternoon. Friday I'm off. Tough week. But for the approximately 15 hours I have to work this week, someone should find me and say hi. I'm like a scavenger hunt. 🙂

Did you get the e-mails for Neuro and OB/Gyn placement today, Ashers? I think I screwed up for my Neuro site by saying either Froedert Wards or Consult would be fine (after already finding out the VA was full), because she put me on Consult. Come to find out later that some of the longest hours for Neuro are on the Consult service. Oh well, at least it's only 2 weeks.

Xandie, what should I put for my #1 choice for OB/Gyn? I've heard that Froedtert sucks, St. Joe's is cool but busy, and St. Mary's is easy. Any comments? I'm not planning on going into OB/Gyn, but I am looking for an informative experience, and would like to get some good OR time so I don't look like such a noob on ENT the next month.

Almost everyone will put Mary's, then Joe's, then the 'Dert. You can get good OR time in anywhere... I hate to break it to you, but you won't really get good OR knowledge until your second or third month in the OR, independently of what rotation those months are on.

Overall... it kinda doesn't matter.

I was going to say consult. I've heard nothing about any of them. I've said nothing. I just got home, so I guess my choices will now be limited.

I now hate OB/Gyn even more than I ever did before (which was a lot). They won't guarantee I won't be at Froedtert. I have a valid claim. I had surgery there dang it, and I talked to Lasser, Lund and Aiman as a patient.

Have you tried taking your concerns to the administration?

Having been to Mary's, I'd say I got a full OB/Gyn experience, without the full OB/Gyn headache (sorry Xandie). A few mornings down at the Alterra by the lake made the rotation quite easy.

Noooo.... I just emailed today with my 3 ranked and a special privacy request, and the lady emailed back saying they wouldn't consider it because FMLH highly values privacy. I got that email after I got home right before I posted my first rant. (I'm also doing an ortho rotation later, and I've been seen as a patient there, but that's really different than gyn stuff).

To whom in the administration would I take such a concern?

How long does it take mail to get here from Philly? (Read: when should I expect to receive my board scores?)

Well, if it's just the secretary, I'd start with Lund, as he's the course director. I think you have a valid concern. If that doesn't go your way, and you feel strongly about this, then I'd go to Simons, as he's the dean of academic affairs.

Coolness, thanks. =) I thought maybe Lund or Lesley Mack since she was the one who helped me when I had the surgery.

I think Lesley also would be a good choice.

From the USMLE website

"Normal score reporting for Step 1 usually occurs in 3-4 weeks. However, because of necessary modifications to the test item pool as well as the processing load caused by a heavy volume of test takers, there will be a delay in score reporting for most Step 1 examinations administered in late May and June. The target date for reporting Step 1 scores for most examinees testing from May 18 through late June will be Wednesday, July 18 , 2007. It is possible that scores may be available earlier; please check this website for updates."

Yeah, I know that much. I've checked the site every Wednesday for the past 3 weeks just in case it came out early. Just not sure how long it takes for mail to come from the east coast. Is there any way the school will tell us the score? 😀

I think my dear, psych-addled friend is asking what day of the week the M4s in the thread received their scores, since they seem to send them out from Philly on a Wednesday every year. She wants to know which day we should start freaking out when we check the mail this week. 😉

Yep, yep.

Oh, RNs talk a lot to nice med students because a lot of times MDs are snippy. My mom said she always felt bad for the med students, so she was always really nice to them, and she respected them because they mightn't've known a lot of clinical stuff, but they knew the phys/path/etc. And since you're on peds, they're the nicest nurses. 😉

oooohhhh.

I think most of my friends got their reports by friday. I got mine the following monday (i think).

Heh...thanks for the insight into my question. When I asked it I was mostly referring to the gossiping and general non-working that many of them do during certain parts of their shifts. Not all are so talkative, but enough to make rounds fairly difficult when we pass through the HUC centers on the floor.

Only had one nurse give me attitude so far, the rest have been great. Oddly enough, the cranky one is probably one of the younger nurses on the floor--you'd think she would empathize with us a little more. I thought it was just me for a while but it turns out that every student on the unit and several of the interns have also had to deal with her mouth already this month! Yikes.

Hehe. The RNs, social workers, techs, etc all gossip up where I am. Joke about the patients too.

So today I got in, read my patient's chart, etc. Last night, she was smoking in bed.

Brewers beat the D-backs again.

😀 I'm going to the game tomorrow with my brother and his friend!!! I hope I don't jinx them.

LOL, I only allow myself to have the games on in the background, because any time I actively watch them on TV they start to suck. If I just have it on while doing something else, though, they always do great.

I was at the game on Sunday and got totally fried by the sun while tailgating. Wear sunblock!

Hmmm... yesterday the D-backs were doing really well while I was actively watching them, then the Brewers got those 2 runs in the 4th when I wasn't watching. Maybe I should watch the whole game. 😉

I got my score on Tuesday, and I was the last one of my friends to get it. Most of my friends got it on Saturday.

So, ah, a nurse I, uh, "know" (in the biblical sense, if you will) told me that the septic teenager carrying the dead baby has survived, and is doing fairly well (surgery went well, and the disseminated intravascular coagulation was dealt with). When the girl arrived in the ER, she was crowning 🙁 no wonder she smelled so bad.

the more you know...."DIC is seen in association with a number of well-defined clinical situations, including sepsis, major trauma, and abruptio placenta"

well, hey....

How'd the usmle go for you all? Do we drink to celebrate or drink to forget?
