***Official Midwestern University c/o 2014 Acceptance Thread****

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
For those of you looking for apartments, I live in Sierra Canyon and can recommend it. Floorplans are nice, office staff is cool, and the price is reasonable for what you get. Also, it is only a short drive from campus.

I was wondering if anyone started filling out the financial aid forms on the portal. I received an e-mail from the yesterday through the school e-mail address and started filling it out but ran into a problem. I was wondering which stafford loan to apply for. It says we can apply for the one that Midwestern offers us or through Sallie Mae. I was hoping if anyone had any information on this or any current students can shed some light on this. Thanks in advance.

I have stafford loans through Citi (www.studentloan.com) and since I already have them through this bank I'm going to apply for my dental school stafford loans through Citi again. It doesn't matter if you choose Midwestern as a lender or SallieMae or Citi or National City, etc. If you don't have stafford loans through an outside source, just go ahead with Midwestern.

I hope that helps.

Hey everyone,

I'm going to be a D1 next year (congrats to everyone) and am hoping to get a 2 or 3 bedroom apartment. Just in case I've applied for on-campus housing but having a 3 bedroom/2 bath at the other complexes is actually cheaper. So basically I'm looking for any other girls who want to live together next year either in:

2 bed/2 bath on campus
2 bed/2 bath off campus
3 bed/2 bath off campus.

Let me know if you're interested! I'm going down the first week in March to apartment-hunt 🙂

I'd really like to figure this out before March so that if we decide to live off campus I can get my $500 deposit back from housing.

Noooo one needs a roommate??

Hey, I think I interviewed with you. I was one of the masters students. Anyway, I got in to. But, I have been here since Aug and I would really get an off campus apt. Most of the kids that I know who live on campus don't really like it and for the price you can get an apt across the street for less, and you get a swim pool, gym, and you are still within walking distance.

does anyone know if we buy or rent our instruments at midwestern? Thanks!

Hey thanks punkin. I didn't even know you responded to my message. I apologize for not responding sooner but I appreciate the info. I actually did apply for the Midwestern one. Good luck with the roommate finding. I need to get on the ball and do that too.

Hey Punkin,

have you found a roomate yet? I would very much love to live on campus and have submitted my application for the $578 rate. If you'd like, we can meet up and see if we'd be compatible as roomates? I am currently in the masters program at MWU so I'm here alllll the time.

I was just taken off the waitlist today! (or at least I think so)---because now I can click on "Accepted Student checklist" link and it will list my prerequisite courses and etc. HOOORAY!!

That's what happens when you're in! CONGRATS!

So we were chatting a while back about trying to get all our prerequisite courses sorted out... just wanted to get on and VENT a little. After jumping through hoops to get my anatomy course approved, and being admitted to my university as a post-bac student for Spring term (which involved a lot more hoops) I just went to register for classes and guess what? One of the lectures and both labs are completely full! ARGH! I really hope that getting into these classes is the last hoop that I need to jump through, but MAN, it's frustrating!

If you go straight to the prof. and discuss your situation with him there is a chance he may open up another seat in the class for you. Also, a significant amount of students (at lease where I've been) will change their schedules right up to the day of class (or even in the first week). Keep checking ALL OF THE TIME to see if a seat opens up!

Rutsy, when did you interview? and were you accepted as is, or were you on the alternate list?

anyone else on the alternate at MWU?

Are you on the alternate list? I know some people besides Rusty who got into MWU from the alternate list. Victoria being one of them.

I interviewed 3/16 with Dr. Sommerhalter. I got the call yesterday afternoon... only one week and a day, yet it was STILL torture.
😀😀

Me and one of my friends had interview with Dr. Sommerhalter, too.
He is such a wonderful person.
I can't wait to see you Rusty. Congratulations. MWU is a great school.
