thenamesake | MD class of 2023. I was an English major in undergrad, and would be happy to give suggestions on theme, content, and flow, or line edits for grammar and phrasing. Won't be available after May 15th.

lipidlover: MD class of 2023. Accepted to multiple T20s with a somewhat out-of-the-box PS (I can pass on advice I received myself). I am by no means an expert, just looking to give back to the community here. Available until mid June.

PursuingHappy | Accepted MD/PhD student, so technically class of 2027 (if my PhD only takes 4 years). Received several interviews, and my PS was commented on at most of them. Was a philosophy minor, so a very strong argumentative essay background. I will provide comments on anything that seems necessary. Also willing to read "why MD/PhD" essays, but NOT research statements. Available until August 9

Hmockingbird | MD 2016, peds grad 2019. English BA with multiple compliments on my med school and (quirky) residency statements. Willing to edit for content and/or grammar. Available until July 1

JIMMYJOHNivy | English BA. I've helped edit >20 personal statements for med school, law school, grad school etc. Can look over content, flow and grammar. Available until July 10th.

MemeLord - Application and secondaries season is here, I'm all done! If you want some general advice (and probably 95% of the advice I would have given you anyways) here is my general advice forum:
A guide to the Personal Statement: A general advice forum
Feel free to leave a comment on it if you have a question about your PS!
TulsaJoe - PS Backlog + on vacation!
Mr. Babe - Too many bad personal statements and I'm tired of giving the same advice. Please read the thread about personal statements and get a good draft going. If you truly think your PS is different......send me a pm and I'll give it a look.
faerie62: Ahh, did not anticipate having so many to read! Will take a few days to catch up.
Arsartium - So many! Want to be able to devote more time to statements I've already agreed to help edit. May become active again in the next few weeks.
acciobutterbeer - just need a day or two to catch up and get through everything in my inbox!
rdyotz: Too many in my backlog, no time for more.

The reason that part is bolded is because it is bolded in the original post. That is not what I was trying to emphasize. The point of that post is to emphasize to not just PM a statement. Nitpicking at my post was not necessary and your assumption was false.

I am just looking for some advice on personal statement topic. I am very passionate about a holistic approach to medicine and treating the entire person as all aspects of our health are connected. The best way I can think to discuss this in my PS is by including my history of an eating disorder and how receiving treatment that focused on the physical, mental, social, and spiritual aspects of the disease is what ultimately secured my recover and how focus on comprehensive self-care in my life has lead to me maintaining all aspects of my health. I know many think discussing mental health is a big no-no in the application process but I feel this best shows my passion for medicine and my personal philosophy regarding healthcare while also highlighting my health and recovery now as I have been in recovery for 4 years. I'd appreciate any input!

Some have been successful with it. The vast majority are not. Should there be a stigma? I am not the one to answer, but there is one and it would be best for you to avoid talking about it.

Looking for someone to read/ analyze my entire verified/ processed primary application and then provide input to address the areas that need improvement and give suggestions as to what I should do. PM me if interested.

Hello everyone,

I am a long-time SDN lurker, but never really post it here. I had just finished my first draft of my PS. would anyone be so kind as to help me edit and give me feedback? I realized it may be a bit later than usual. any help is greatly appreciated.

Are you applying next cycle or this cycle?

sorry everyone, i forgot to mention that my ps is for residency, not medical school. thanks!

Hello everyone.

I know and do respect your time. I know that I'm a little late, but is there anyone still available to read my PS?

Thanks again

While it is late to submit primaries, due to health issues I am just submitting now. Can anyone look at my PS and tell me if it is okay? Thank you!

Can anybody take a quick look at my diversity secondary essay?

If you still need someone to take a look, I'm happy to!

Anyone willing to read my PS? I only applied in Texas and it’s a done deal at this point, but I’m wondering if the frankness and lack of cookie cutter idealism portrayed in it might give schools some reservations. I thought it made for a compelling and refreshingly honest statement and clearly demonstrated my motivation to pursue medicine, but I’m not on an adcom either.

Hello all,

I'm on a unique application timeline, so I thought I'd post here. Would anyone be willing to take a look at my PS for me?

Thanks in advance!

Mr. Babe: I'm back! I will read personal statements only. I have read a lot of bad personal statements so don't ask for advice until you've actually read the guide and changed your PS. I will tell you exactly how bad yours is though so don't ask for advice if you're sensitive.

Hey, can you PM me?

Hi! Can I ask anyone to review my PS to see if I am able to answer the "why medicine" question? Thank you!

Hi! Would others be willing to provide feedback on my personal statement? I’m in a later draft phase so would greatly appreciate critical feedback! PM me and I can send word doc. Thanks!
