fyi I am getting slammed with 4 essays this week. plus I have a couple in my box from before that. Please don't send me more unless you wanna wait a while. share the wealth with the 29 other SDNers on this list!

trying to write my manuscript too,
sunflower79 🙂

I'm pretty free right now....I'm waiting on some to send me their edits, but otherwise, send some my way! 🙂

If there is anyone who still needs help with their essay, I minored in English writing, copy-edited my university's paper, and worked as a writing center consultant for two years. I would be happy to look at essays and give feedback. Let me know.

There's not much on my plate right now. Feel free to send them my way...

PM me with requests.

I'm willing to read people's essays too. I am a former English major and studied languages, plus I was a teacher so I will try and be positive in my comments. Just let me know what you are looking for in my reading and what sort of feedback you might want - grammar, ideas, overall ok-ness.

These things are hard to write, I know from my own agonizing efforts. 😉

Hey, I just subscribed to the boards for this reason. I am starting medical school at Yale this coming August (Deferred Matriculant). These boards were so helpful thoughout my process last year, I felt like this was the best way I could give back to the boards. I don't relly have much to do this summer, and since the essay isa HUGE part, I would be willing to review anyone's essay for them, grammar and content. Hope I'm helpful to you guys!

PM me to review it and I'll get back to you by the next evening!

bumping since people are missing this thread. also because the people i've been working have submitted, so i can read one or two more

I'm still in the application process, but I've already submitted my PS. I love critiquing other people's statements and I really appreciated the help I got, so I'll read stuff. Just PM them.

I've really enjoyed the essays I read this year (but not to say that I didn't have stern criticism 😉 ), but I must bow out for now while I move to another state. Good luck, all!

Hey-- sorry to be a pain, but I'm no longer taking PS essays. I just don't have the time to do them these days. Best of luck to you all! 🙂

i'd recommend asking him for input on your essay. he's quite honest and makes some good points. many other SDNers listed above have given excellent advice, but forgive me for not remembering everyone's screennames. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

Hey everyone...

Just taking my name off the list for the time being. I'm moving this weekend up to NYC, so I want to get settled first and then see how much time I'll have to set up shop for the September stragglers. 🙂

Hey hey!

I'm temporarily readding myself to the list for those who are a bit late in the game (hey, I feel your pain...I submitted exactly one year ago today). But, here are a few ground rules:

1. I will only read AMCAS PS's. Or essays for non-AMCAS schools. But I'd really prefer to not read secondaries this go 'round.**

2. I'll only make a maximum of two edits per essay. In the past, I've definitely been one to keep working with someone ...but I really don't have time now. 🙁 Sorry!

3. I'll only be accepting essays until Oct 1st. So that gives people about 9 days or so to send things my way.

4. If you haven't posted anything on SDN, don't bother sending me anything. I'm not asking for a lot, but you know...it's a community. Give and you shall receive, and what not...

5. Word Docs are fine, but send me a PM, so I can let you know where to send it.

I'm just trying to help those who were in a similar situation to mine last year! 🙂

And here's an updated (yet brief) bio about me:

-SistaKaren - Current MS1 Columbia P&S. Undergrad at UNC: Phil major and social and economic justice minor...URM, significant research (biomedical and public health), public service....

**if you've posted a lot or have had your essays edited by me before, you're excepted from this stipulation.

Alrighty...that's it. Good luck everyone!

Karen

Hey guys,
who is still available? I noticed this is an old thread and I didn't want to PM people who are not available.
Let me know if you can read my preliminaty statement (it's only 500 words).

Thanks!

i'm around. i have a final on monday, but i'll probably read it after that.

Oh, I'm not. Just for the record -- especially since I made the last post on this thread before it was bumped.

Well I'm not in medical school or anything nor have I yet taken the MCAT but I would be willing to read someones essay and tell them what I think.

I guess i could set up another one of these as people are starting another round of essays! sigh how the time flies.

Please do, I am currently working on mine for this upcoming cycle.

There is a current one for this cycle somewhere.

I'm a fourth year and would be happy to read personal statements. PM or email.

yeah, i'm not sure where it went.

search fx isnt up yet, i guess we'll have to wait, or someone will have to dig it up manually.

Count me in!
I will do my best.
