You were on 6 waitlists last year and none of them came through? That comment is going to give me nightmares for the next few weeks. Did you provide the schools with updates while you were waiting or did you just cross your fingers and hope something worked out? I am currently on 3 waitlists and waiting to hear back on 2 others. I thought I might be in a decent position but now I don't know.
 
Somewhere along the line we lost the actual list of schools people have been accepted off of...

I sent letter after letter, still no luck. I think I might hold the record for most number of waitlsits w/o an ultimate acceptance. You know what sux even more, I'm always meeting ppl who were on one or two waitlists and eventually got in. Ya, life isn't fair, but if it were fair, it wouldn't be life. I'm hoping for some better luck this year cuz I'm really getting worn out in the process. Good luck to you!

NICE WORK!! GWU my all time top school that i would drag my resin-coated face thru two miles of broken glass to get in to. I'm waitlisted too, I guess things are starting to move?

Were you on High priority WL? Also how did they notify you? Congrats once again!!.

I'll go ahead and answer this one, for I had the same question a few months back.

If you haven't noticed, when someone posts on a thread, the thread jumps to the beginning of the forum. The more popular the threads (i.e., the more times people post on them), the closer to the top they'll be. Sometimes, there are great posts (such as this one, the I got off a waitlist thread) that people want to keep in the first page of the forum because they're popular. I mean, who wants to go into the 6th or 7th page to find a thread. So, if someone has nothing new or profound to add but wants to move the thread to the beginning, where it will be seen by everyone when they first log in, you write bump. The same is achieved by actually posting something worthwhile.
