Just curious to know if anyone has any apps that are listed as under review from UOP. I'm currently listed as "Application complete, waiting for review" since 8/03/2010.

same here

I got nervous when I first saw the thread title because I thought UOP started calling for interviews already and it's past noon here and I didn't get a call yet :scared: Haha so dramatic I know...

My status has been been Application Complete/Waiting for Review since 7/27.

Yep same here. UoP is one of my top choices too I hope we hear something soon! 😀

Based on the posts from last year, it looks like the first round of interviews begin in early October. So I'm guessing that interview calls will start this month!!
:luck:

Haha what are you worried about? Aren't you in one of the +3 programs?

I called UoP and they said they would start reviewing applications and sending out interviews last week but I haven't heard of anyone getting an interview yet. So maybe this week? 🙂

Yup, but I'm especially hoping for a pre-December interview. Being in the program doesn't guarantee pre-Dec. Most Pre-Dents are interviewed in January in previous years. The earlier the better, right? 🙂

You'll get one, just keep a look out for that 415 😉

I think that is the case for all schools. You need an interview to get in 😉 I have heard the first statement a few times though regarding UoP.

I know.

I'm not trying to be picky choosy here but it would still be great if all that could happen before the end of the year 😀

Does anyone have thoughts of the rate of specializing at UOP? Does the 3 year program aspect detract from chances of getting a residency at another school?

Didn't stop me. In fact, at several programs I interviewed they said they loved UoP grads and wished they could get more. Problem is not too many people apply for specialties. Those who do, tend to do very well.

I heard from a friend that if you have a <3.0 and ~20 on the DAT. You are guaranteed an interview IF you are the program. So to the UOP poster here: I'm sure you are fine =)

I heard that too but I heard that they are put into a different group or something so they compete against them selfs more then outside students for only about 40 seats or so. But i could be wrong

Thanks. I'm actually more worried about the timing but I guess I should just be grateful it's happening in the first place lol.

This is correct. The 'different group' is usually interviewed in January. The more competitive applicants are interviewed alongside everyone else in Oct-Nov...hope I can be one of those people :xf:

Hmm I don't get this.

So UoP first invite people with high stats for pre-dec acceptances and then interview everyone with 3.0< and 20+ DAT in January for like 40 spots?

so if we have 3.0+ gpa and 20+ DAT, we are guaranteed an interview in January if we don't hear it in pre-dec?

Guarantee is only for UOP undergraduate students in their Pre-Dental advantage program. 🙂 There are different GPA requirements for each level of the program but generally it's 18+ DAT across, except QR (which can be a bit lower). The Pre-Dental students are usually considered separate from other applicants and are interviewed in January....really outstanding Pre-Dents can get interviewed with outside applicants earlier. Hope that makes sense.

Ah I see... thanks for clarifying!

Hopefully the phones start ringing on Thursday or Friday!!!

Same, but would it realistically take minimum 7 weeks after waiting over a month? Does anyone know when take first started handing out interviews last cycle?

i have been invited to interview with uop. good luck everybody. mine is scheduled for october

NOT true. It's either accepted or get placed on the waitlist even for the Pre-December interviews. But honestly, most students Pacific selects are pretty much who they want to take. Unless you seem like you're antisocial or really arrogant during the interview, I don't really see why my school wouldn't want to take you after offering you an interview. Good luck to those who are coming in, best of luck! Don't be nervous. 👍👍👍

Thanks for the update peerless. Will you be attending the interviews this year? If so, I look forward to meeting you 🙂

Mine was also updated to "Please wait 7-8 weeks for review"

FRICK!!!

Why do they have to do it by phone?! I'm cooped up in a giant concrete box of a building all day and don't get reception. I'm going to be freaking out all day every day now, now that I know invites are going out.

:scared:

It seems like all the UOP invites so far have been given to out of state students.

Mine too which I think it is polite way of saying, Thank you for your application and Interest, you will get the rejection letter in 7 weeks.

Maybe it means that they are just starting to look through applications and that the people that were called today were just the first batch they looked through.

Do you all think its too late to submit an app for UOP, I would have done this earlier and I still cant do it till around next week... but finance issues really suck.

Don't think this is the case. It seems like only 2 or so people on SDN & Predents got interviews so far and most other people had theirs change to that.

My info came directly from the ADA friend....stats say 107 interviewed....107 accepted....just going by what the ADA reports

How can that make sense though? Not all 107 interviewed went to UOP. Something is up with that little statistic there.

Im not sure ur logic is sound buddy....there's no evidence to suggest that all 107 of them didnt go there....and plus....in my opinion....who wouldnt accept their invite??
Either way.....its irrelevant......the stats provided could be wrong.....but like the dstudent said......UoP pretty much invites who they want...they dont "over invite" like other schools (ie. MWU-Az)

My application changed to "allow 7-8 weeks" in the morning and I got the call in the afternoon. Its just their way of saying were moving a little slow give us more time. Hope that cheers everyone up!

Well...our school has 143 seats so that woudn't make sense to only have 107 accepted right? We usually interview about 220-250 students each year and takes about 170-180 students (Of course students will withdraw.) The ADEA guide to dental school from a year ago says UOP is a 4 yr program even though we've been a 3 yr program for a VERY long time. Not everything you see on a website can be 100% true right? Our school has one of the highest withdraw rate post-acceptance rate at about 75% instead of 50% or lower compare to the other schools.

Do you guys think everyones turned to 7-8 weeks or just some?
