I remember from hangover I where they were making jokes about stu how he cannot save someone having heart attack in a restaurant because he is a DENTIST. Haha okay it makes sense so I just laughed back then.

So last night I went out with my friends to watch hangover II and yet I didn't expect to see another 'dentist' joke in this movie.

------------------- Spoiler -----------------------------------------------

So Stu (A dentist) and his friends travel to thailand for his own wedding. The day before wedding there was a conversation going on between Stu and his father-in-law. Stu was told that his fiance's little brother is a pre-med in stanford and he started conversation with how wonderful it is going to be having two doctors within the family. Apparently his father-in-law told stu directly "In our family we don't really consider dentists as doctors" something like that.

I should take this as a joke and move on. It is somewhat funny but on the other hands, I thought some people might get this misunderstanding that dentists are somewhat inferior by watching this clip. (or maybe decent amount of people already think dentists are inferior in general idk)

Its a movie and its a joke.

the whole dentist not a doctor thing has been going on for a long long time.

Its gets recycled because well there's only so many jokes you can tell.

Go watch Seinfeld, the episode titled The Yada Yada.

It is full of funny dental jokes. It was used in place of jewish ones.

the real funny thing about Hangover is that I still cannot believe the actor that plays Mr. Chow, Ken Jeong is a real medical doctor.

Can you imagine being his patient?

wow seriously? That guy is a kickass for acting funny/weird drug dealing criminal when he is a real medical doctor

Dentist jokes are hilarious... especially since most of them hold truth lol (except the one about high suicide rates ~ doubt this is real)

yeah he's a real medical doctor. So is his wife. Not sure if he's still practicing. In some interviews he says he still does.

But I can't imagine where he finds the time between various movies and appearances.

Plus there's the whole deal of do you even need to. He struck gold and from the looks of it is cashing in as much as he can. he probably netted a multiple lifetime's worth of income just from the hangover series and tv shows.

If he watches finances he should never have to practice again.

Hangover 2 was a lame sequel. I hope they realize that the box office receipts is due to the anticipation generated by Hangover 1 and not on the lack of quality of this one. No one wants to see a Hangover 3.

Yeah because movie studios care about really care about quality.

How many fast and furious movies are there? How about Shrek, Pirates of hte Caribbean.

Oh look at that a "reboot" of spider-man 5 years after spidey 3.

they care about the money. if they can show you a blank screen and get 15 bucks from you they would.

I took a lot of heat from my parents when I decided to pursue dentistry instead of medicine, while their friend's son is already in medical school.

Medical doctors have always been viewed as superior doctors, "true doctors".

When I told my research supervisor that research wasn't for me (refused to switch into PhD program), and wanted to apply for dentistry, he's like "Oh, so you're happy look inside people's mouth's all day?".

There are many reasons to choose dentistry, but you will always be viewed as inferior to medical doctors. If this bothers you, then you'll have a hard time living with this fact later on.

Lol, i'm sure he makes A LOT more money as a doctor than as a side character in a movie.
