Ogs/cihr/sshrc/nserc?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
For SSHRC/CIHR/NSERC you should be notified from your university as to whether or not you made it out of the university to Ottawa. I know doctoral results from the university went out today for SSHRC at my university. If you make it to Ottawa, you won't hear until April I think, or maybe late March as to whether or not you actually got the award. If you have been out of school and applied directly to Ottawa you won't hear back until then as well.

Thanks! Would you mind sharing when the deadline for SSHRC was at your school? I applied for CIHR, but the deadline was January 4th... I presume it's too early to expect that they've reviewed all the applications? Maybe not.

Thanks again.

Huh, OK. Thanks!

I'm really counting on it too... or at least OGS! That said, I know a couple people who got in last year who didn't even apply for funding at all. So, all is not lost if we are denied, I suppose.

The deadline for schools to submit their short list for CIHR is Feb 1st.

I just emailed my department yesterday to let me know if there is any news on it, because I'm really counting on it going through. :crosses fingers:

I think the deadline at our school was sometime in November for SSHRC, but I don't know for sure because I didn't have to apply this year. I think you'll have to wait longer for CIHR for sure; I know the deadline was later for them at our university as well.

I was just informed by CIHR did not go through to Ottawa. FML.........
why is it so hard.

Shoot, that sucks! I'm sorry. 🙁

Did you get an email? I haven't received anything! :S

This process is enough to make anyone completely insane. Ugh.

Are you folks applying from Canadian schools? I'm applying for a CIHR from the states and the process is a little different (no department review).

Yup, I live in Ontario and am applying to CIHR through my Canadian school. I wish there was no departmental review! In your case, I suppose you will only hear much later about whether your application will be funded or not, as I assume you applied directly to Ottawa(?)

No I asked the person who handles these awards.
Only 2 people from my department applied and I think we both didn't go through b/c our department told us to do something different than that was actually required... so we never even completed the online portion and they changed the process this year, you can't send them paper-documents anymore (if you apply through a department).

Yeah, the app goes straight to Ottawa.

I was VERY happy to see the CIHR announcement on priority to social sciences health research, as that's exactly what I do....

That sucks! My department was also very unclear about submission this year. I called CIHR almost every day for a month!

Apparently there was some glitch in the system, and CIHR notifications haven't gone out yet. Though, if you applied through your University, they had to submit all successful applications to CIHR yesterday. So, someone, somewhere at your University knows if your application was forwarded.

I called the Graduate Studies office at my school, and was told about the glitch, and that my application was forwarded on to CIHR! Yay! 😀

Nice^
I am really upset with my department. I emailed them to explain why it did not go through and they said it wasn't b/c of the way I did it (but another psych student who also had the same problem, hers did not go through either).

Did you hear from any more schools? Please let me know (PM). I haven't heard anything and I am fearing the worst, I am starting to look for other programs. I want to do my Master's somewhere, but I am not sure of programs/schools.

I can't stay in this "limbo" for another year, just can't. Second time applying.
