Congratulations on getting done with the DAT. Your TS is solid and PAT is avg. However, I think the RC is going to hurt you because a lot of schools have cut offs and that might be a problem.

your TS is right on the dot! 👍 yes, the RC, will give you problems. i think another poster is going thruogh a similar situation and was recommended to call up schools. if you have done well in upper div bio courses w/ extensive writing/lab reports, or english courses point those out to them and see what they say...

hey 🙂 amazing scores in sciences, i think you should apply, but maybe try to retake your dat or not depends on schools that you want to apply, anyways great job!! do u mind me asking? how was biology and chem? and can i ask you how was your score in RC and Math when you were taking topscore? thanx

I have about RC 17 on both topscore and achiever. I really didn't know how the hell I got a freaking 14??? And math, I have 18-19 in avg. (range:16-20). I hate my scores. I'm really upset with it right now and don't know what to do, it seem like my chance is wayyyyyyyy slim, with those embrassing score (I shouldn't have the gut to post them by the way...such a shame.)

listen try, it can't hurt! after reading everything on SDN u never know people with low scores (and i mean it low) get into schools, sciences u should not hate, u did fine come one getting like 5 questions wrong out of 40 it's amazing, i'm telling u call up the schools and see what they say, for math part some people get good version some not hey u did what u could , and u did not that bad!!!

there isn't much you can do now so think about what to do next. Call up your schools on monday and see what they say.

I actually got a 15 in RC and 23 in TS which brought my AA down to 20 and that is why I was told by Case to retake the DAT. I am not going to do that this year and if I don't get in elsewhere then I will do that next year.

Also, I was scoring like 20-22 on Achiever RC and I was shocked to see the low 15 on the screen after the test but ...what can we do now...nothing. Don't worry just concentrate on this semester if you're taking classes.

Hey, I am glad to see you are done 👍 . You did a great job!!! 😉 Unfortunetly, QR and RC are low, but you never know..

Call the schools like everyone here says because at least most of the schools I'm applying ask for a minimum of 15 on each section, etc. BUT! don't worry too much. Feel proud you did a great job overall and did your best. Congrats!

Hey dont worry to much about it, theres not much you can do at this point except to look ahead at your next step like busdent said. I think you should retake the DAT and the second time around studying wont nearly be as bad. You know what the real deal is like and you only need to improve in reading and QR. Youll probably ace the DAT next time around! Keep your head up.

Congrats on your Sciences. If you've already applied, you should contact the schools and tell them you're retaking it... Don't lose heart,

I think if your GPA is good enough they will wait for your new DAT.

Keep fighting! oooh and I know this is a totally corny phase but it really helped me study for the DAT. "Know your enemy, that's how you can destroy it completely!"

And for your RC section, my tip is to not read the passages at all. Not even a quick scan. Instead, read the question and then scan the passages for the answer. THE DAT don't give you enough time to read the passages and comprehend the whole story. IT only cares about the answer.

As for the QR..
well I got a 16 so I'll shut my mouth about that.

if schools tell you that you need to retake the DAT, please give it some serious thought. Remember the new rule is that you can only take the DAT max of 3 times now. You won't be able to take the DAT until atleast Dec 29th. That is fairly late for most schools because by the end of december they probably have 75% of their class filled. And that means that even if you kill the DAT your chances of getting accepted is very slim. Next, if you're taking classes this quarter, will you really be able to put all the time and effort needed to study for the DAT?

My advice is if it doesn't work out this year, prepare yourself really well for next year. Next year you will be better prepared by submitting your app really early in the process.

Thank you for all of your encouragements and supports: Uracil, Busdent, Euphoria, Blueeyes, busdent, electron, bluemoon, etc…I really appreciate that. You guys are the most amazing warm-hearted people I’ve ever known. That explains why the dentistry profession is so unique and so people friendly.

I really don’t know what to say, the scores really suck-a**, I admit that I’m FOB however… it’s hard to get a 13 on RC seriously… no one I’ve known or heard had done that…I broke a new record didn’t I? It’s only 12 more points away from a “1” by the way. I don’t dare to tell many people including the dentist I’m working for who is trying to help me throughout the whole painful application process. I cried so hard yesterday (thank god I didn’t get a car accident on the way home) and my eyes now are biggest than an egg. There really isn’t anything I can do at this point, other than call up ALL the schools and tell them how sorry I feel for myself and beg.

I e-submitted my application on the June 6th, sGPA 3.3, cGPA 3.1, 2 yrs dental lab and assisting experience, good hand-eye coordination (play piano for 10+ yrs), other than that, I really don’t have anything else to show for. I was lucky to be able to get a hold of somebody yesterday at Arizona and she said I was more than an avg. type of applicant. There isn’t really anything I can do right now other than wait… I can imagine calling all other schools and get the exact same response. This year is way different than last year, an avg applicant = the chance is next to none. I really don’t mean to be all dark and melodramatic but that is the reality.

Fortunately, I’m done with all the classes and I can use the time to focus on the beast again for another 90 painful days, the game isn’t over yet…
