Hey all -

I was really lucky to have an interview at Ohio State in early October. I was crushed when I found out I was deferred.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Do they actually review your file again? And if so when? I sent in a status update and got an additional LOR - I just want go here so badly but I feel like I got the kiss of death.

Does anyone know if anyone gets accepted after being deferred? If so how many and when?

Dr. Capers did not mention "deferred" when explaining how the selection process would occur. He told us that we would (1) receive a phone call if we were accepted or (2) receive a status update that would inform us if we were rejected or waitlisted.

I'm guessing that "deferred" = waitlist. I would turn to last year's Ohio State thread

to get a better feel for what other students in your position did and get an idea of when there was waitlist movement. If I remember correctly, I read that there was someone who was accepted a week before class started last year, so don't lose hope and good luck!

i got deferred last year at osu and never got off the waitlist. I met with Dr. Capers and he said that they only took like 4 or 5 people from the waitlist and were over the class size still going into june so i hate to tell you this but its not likely many people will get off the waitlist at osu. i even sent in a loi and update letter but didn't work out for me. best of luck with your other schools

whoaaa.. only 4 or 5 people off the waitlist.. for a class of 200+?? that is insane... I don't interview until January and Im relaly hopign to get into OSU as well.. i hope my chances arent too bad then =T

But do we still have a better chance if we were interviewed early and send updates etc? They do reconsider our apps in December or so right? So maybe they accept people then before the spring interviews? I mean I have no idea...

By August before matriculation they took 4 people from the deferred list. I think the first one got accepted off it some time in June.

Send updates/LOI and good luck man.
