Hi I was wondering if anyone knew when ohio starts informing you with interview requests? thanks

I don't know if they're doing things differently this year, but last year I heard from them on October 30th.
Good luck!:luck:

Cateyes - did you hear from them by email, phone or post?
thanks!

They called me...so if you get some random phone call from a blocked number, answer it!

last year I got Ohio's call either Nov 6 or 7th for an interview on Nov 26th-as I recall, they gave me a choice of a few dates. Good luck everybody.

But when did you submit your application?

Hey David- I submitted mine around October 10th or 11th...phone call October 30th, and they gave me a couple of choices for interviews too..I took Nov 16th, which was the end of the first week of interviews last year. Not sure if that helps, but good luck!

Interviews are going to be different this year, with a much shorter interview span (more per day). They won't be starting until mid-December.

could someone give me the link of the site you go to see the status of your application?? i think i have the wrong link - i submitted my supp on the 16th but i keep getting a message saying "there is no record of your application" when i go to log in. maybe i'm just confused.

and does anyone know if EVERYONE who submits a VMCAS application is invited to do the supplement application? or does it serve as the first "filter"?

But when did you submit your application?

I'm not sure anymore but I remember I finished the supp. pretty quickly; I think around Oct 11 sticks in my head-I know I submitted fairly early and did not wait til the last minute. But apparently last year's dates are no longer a guide because ri23 says it has changed this yr.

ellehan, did you receive the e-mail from Ohio telling you to check out your application status and giving you the link? They send you the link and your password. If not, they probably didn't put your info into the computer yet.

I received an email immediately after I submitted the supp app from OSU that said " in addition to this email message, you will also receive a separate communication from Ohio State asking you to visit a self-service page..." but I don't think I ever got that email. I guess I'll just keep waiting! I was under the impression they would send it right away so I thought I had accidently deleted it or something... thanks for your help!

Same situation, got the first email saying I would get a second one.

Don't worry guys, you'll get the second one! I submitted my supp Oct 10th and I just received it last week I think. It'll give you all the info you need. Although I think their page is a little confusing... you need to click on a lot of links to get where you want to go. But I got there eventually.

Hm...now that I think about it, I never did receive that second e-mail! I'm already an OSU student though so I knew where to check for my status (and I already have a password). Right now it says my application is under "Evaluation". Last week it said "incomplete", so they could still be putting everyone's applications together.

The link to application status on OSU's website isn't that difficult to find. Here's a direct link though if you have trouble:

Mine says under "Academic Review." What's the difference between this and the "Evaluation" designation?

I have no idea! I did find this on the Admissions FAQ page:

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT MY APPLICATION IS UNDER ACADEMIC REVIEW BY MY PROPOSED GRADUATE PROGRAM? WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?.
[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]This means that the Graduate Admissions Office received your application, fee and transcripts and has notified your intended Graduate Studies Committee to begin the formal academic review process leading to a decision on your application. To check the status of your decision and to make sure that the program has received your letters of recommendation, personal statement and other required materials, please contact the graduate program to which you applied. When a decision is made on your application, you will receive a letter, or email. Prior to receiving a letter you may periodically check on your application status via our on-line service..
I couldn't find anything at all about an "Evaluation" designation. 🙁 How odd.

i wonder if they are gonna be announcing interviews through an email or a phone call. at least they are letting us know relatively soon florida is making you wait till feb and thats just plain torture

Meggie,

I remember reading that notation about the Academic Review, but like you, I couldn't find anything about Evaluation! Strange...

So when I checked my status today the only thing listed as being received is all of my transcripts. Is that the same thing listed for everyone else?

Nothing indicating that they received the veterinary experience verification form.

Yeah, I had the same concern. I emailed them, and they said they received both my verification form and my GRE scores. They still aren't listed on my status page though.

They won't be listed there - the only thing they list online is your transcripts (what I was told).

Hey guys! I'm a current student and I have a friend who works in the admissions office. The interviews are being held over winter break and will be done via self-scheduling online, if you get an offer. Offers should be extended in November. Good luck to all of you! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you... I was in your spot not too long ago. :luck:

Thanks cscip! Any advice?!

Btw, do you know if all IS applicants are granted an interview?

My status just changed to "Academic Review" as well...

So, I talked to the admissions office about a week or so ago, and they told me that the status page really isn't being kept quite up-to-date. They also told me that they hope to start notifying us about interviews in mid-late November for interviews in December and January. In addition, they said that they are going to try and let OOS people know sooner so that those who are granted an interview have some extra time to make travel arrangements.

Just think, a few more weeks until some of us get some feedback...

Thanks for the Update Bcrunner!
🙂

Even though they're not keeping that status page updated, anyone else have any trouble logging in lately? In my book, it's already the middle of November!

For about the past 2 weeks I had been unable to login-received some sort of "login error." I had never changed the password that they had originally set me up with, so I tried changing it, and haven't had a problem logging in since (this was 4-5 days ago).

I haven't been able to log in for several weeks. I called the admissions office, and they told me not to worry about it because they're not updating the status page. ::shrug:: So I haven't worried about it.

So no, you're not the only one having trouble. It's too bad, because I rather liked the status page idea.

Hey guys! I am a current student with Cscip hehe, and I just wanted to wish you all the best of luck! Admissions has really really been changed this year (interviews are during ~ week period instead of spread out between November and Feb-Marchish). I just thought I would fill you in though that for my interview they called me and it is a 614 area code! Best wishes!!!

They must be updating them again, because my status changed from "evaluation" to "academic review" today.

I think you're right, because I was able to log back in today. They must be doing something! I think we'll know within a week, because they told me on the phone that we'd know by the end of November. Thanksgiving is next week, so that rules out them telling us Thursday and Friday. By the time you get to Monday, it's December 1st! I sure hope it's a good call or email...my fingers and toes are tired of being crossed!

Me too!! My status page is magically working again. Mine still says "evaluation" though, as it has for the past month and a half. 😎

hmm, in the beginning my status page said Academic Review. Now it says Evaluation. I can't stand waiting any longer!!!! 😱 I don't see what the point of changing from academic review to evaluation is! It just causes more anxiety for us!

i emailed ohio about when we would receive interview requests and they said we would recieve emails between before thanksgiving and early december

what does "Evaluation" mean?? that has been my status every since the first time i checked.

Mine went from evaluation to academic review in mid October, and has been there since.

I think we just need to stop trying to determine where our application is, if the adcoms like us, whether we get an interview and if we're accepted or denied by a single word on a computer screen.:laugh: Easier said than done!!!

Thanks goschairma, that helps!

From the vets I've talked to who know the OSU admissions process this year, "Evaluation" means the application is at its first stop in the Office of Professional Admissions. If it meets their criteria, it moves to Veterinary Admissions and goes into "Academic Review". When I called the admissions office while freaking out that my application status page said my account had been disabled (ack!), they said not to worry about it because they weren't using the status page this year, and that interview invitations were sent out by e-mail. Yet, it's working again now - I'm not sure why they would bother putting it back up if they weren't using it.

I'm an OSU student - I love the school, but since it's SO huge, it's also an enormous bureaucracy and sometimes it's nearly impossible to get a consensus on anything (like say, interview invitations) without calling eight people five times, filling out forms in triplicate, and sacrificing a baby panda. Two baby pandas are preferred, I hear, but no one really knows.

Good luck everyone!

Thanks cscip! Any advice?!

Btw, do you know if all IS applicants are granted an interview?

Let's see here... my best advice is to have fun with the interview process. The majority of the people I've talked to in the class of 2012 said they laughed and cracked jokes with their interviewers (including myself 🙂. You might be surprised how much smiling and laughing a little can relieve your stress. Also, they're big on the idea of "one health" here - so you need to understand the crucial role veterinarians play in public health.

Another important note: if you put it on your application, you better know it inside and out. I participated in a couple agribusiness study abroad programs and my interviewer asked me at one point how I thought cloning of food animals here in the US would impact our exports to the EU.

One last point of advice. Keep an open mind! Try to see both sides of every current issue/debate and let your interviewers know that you can understand multiple perspectives. Having strong opinions is a good thing, but as an undergraduate you simply don't have enough experience to make really definitive decisions on a lot of the issues that may come up.

I don't have a definite answer for your question about IS students. However, I doubt that is the case. Everyone has to meet the minimum academic and experience requirements before they qualify for an interview. The standards are different though, depending on whether you're OS or IS.

Hope that all helps! Hopefully I'll see some of you guys on campus in a few weeks :luck: Good luck... I'm rooting for you!!

Goschairma 😀 whyyyyyyyy haven't you told everyone yet about your interview?!?! 😀😀😀

lol, FYI for the others who are waiting, Goschairma is my bff and she received an email interview invite today!! Good luck to the rest of you and congrats to those who were granted interviews today!!!!!!!

For those keeping track, it was an email and it was sent today around 4:45pm EST 🙂

Thanks cscip for all the advice!!

😱 Um...I really hope that OSU is sending the invitation's for IS interviews at a later date because I didn't hear anything. :scared:

Everyone I've heard of who has been granted an interview thus far has been OOS. Like you, I'm IS and haven't heard anything!

They are doing it on a rolling basis.

Based upon completion of their supplemental?

Meggie 1985: Good luck to both of us!! :luck:

Does anyone know approximately how many OOSers Ohio usually interviews for the 38 or so OOS spots they offer every year?

AHHHH!!!! I'm OOS and haven't heard from OSU yet! Any other OOS applicants freaking out along with me? I don't think I'm a half bad applicant, here's to hoping tomorrow brings good news. : (

Yes, based on the supplemental.

They have notified some IS people.
