Many of you have probably already read this article. I remember seeing some of this guy's videos and just put them into the same category I put pretty much all medical tik tok's (cringy) but had no idea the allegations against him. Compounding this is the alleged neglect from EM staff in their failure to support their own, which is odd given Dr Choo's activism in the past, especially for women and minorities in medicine. I recall her tweet about white people being exhausting awhile back but didn't know it was potentially tied to this.

Obviously I don't have all the facts, but the suit alleges some pretty serious deficiencies on OHSU's handling of the situation, not to mention the EM departments lack of willingness to support their own residents (I am assuming, possibly incorrectly that the plaintiff is an EM resident, though it says she is a VA employee, which then I'm not sure how the EM department would be involved since he was in anesthesia). So there are a lot of assumptions on my part in this post, and I'm happy to be corrected. Wondering if anyone else has any info on this. Second time in not a long time their EM program has been shown in a less than flattering light. The first being the resignation of their former chair Dr Ma.

I had always heard relatively good things about the program there. This is all so odd.

I haven't heard entirely good things about their program. A good friend of mine who is from Portland, went to Reed for undergrad and typifies "keep Portland weird" rotated there in medical school, came back and noted that their residency was weird. He didn't go there. Since this guy was a few standard deviations from "normal" and he found OHSU strange, I always figured they OHSU was more than odd. Dr. Choo doubling down on racist comments help reinforce my views.

The original lawsuit makes a lot of mentions of people being "mandatory reporters". I know this is likely very state-dependent, but can anyone comment on what this means from a legal standpoint in this situation? I am familiar with the concept of being a mandated reporter for child abuse, elder abuse, domestic abuse, etc. but I have never encountered the term as it relates to sexual harassment.

Given that the other things you mentioned are crimes, and sexual harassment isn't, I think that's the difference.

Right. To better restate my question: is there such a thing as being a mandated reporter of sexual harassment, or is the lawsuit just misapplying the term here? My guess is the latter, but I don't know enough about Oregon (or OHSU's hospital bylaws) to say this for certain.

Yes, there is. I don't know about Oregon in particular, but at the federal level OHSU falls under Title IX as a university. This requires that the employee (in this case Dr. Choo), being aware of a sexual harassment issue, is required to report it to someone at the university who has the authority to take corrective measures. Per the lawsuit, this didn't happen.

It sure sounds like there's more than enough toxic wokeness to go around up there, doesn't it? It's always interesting when the 'enlightened' gather around to destroy each other.

Really? Every single time the OHSU residency has come up in real life, the subtext is that their clinical training is disappointingly subpar.
I had no idea. I thought they had a good reputation and were a competitive program.

No doubt. I guess people are just people.

Looks like they settled:

Defendant's lawyer is basically saying "he didn't harass you, and doesn't have any money for you anyway"
John Kaempf, a former lawyer for Campbell, initially wrote to the plaintiff’s lawyers that Campbell denied liability and was deeply in debt, including about $367,000 in school loans, $17,500 in credit card debt with a total about $5,600 in the bank.
