Ok, so I've been looking around quite a bit and I can't seem to find information about OHSU's MSTP program anywhere. Even the OHSU web page doesn't say anything about class size. So for those of you who know more about this school:

1) How big is the program, and how many do they take each year?

2) OHSU is a notorious 'hold' school. Is it the same way for MSTP? If so, how many ever get off hold and into the program?

3) What are the interviews like? I have mine in about a week and I'm very excited/nervous/pretty much every emotion known to man.

It's small and new, which is why you don't see much about it. I have in fact heard that they don't send most of the MSTP acceptances until quite late. Good luck!

1) 4 students matriculate per year

2) I think like most other small programs, ohsu has to put most students on hold to avoid overenrollment nightmares

3) mstp applicants interview alongside ms applicants with special meetings with researchers and the mstp director. Each interview is a full *one hour long* aka too long

What other people have said about the size and timing. My interviews didn't take a full hour, and there were only about four of them, if I recall correctly. They were mostly like other schools' interviews, with one true MD interview and the rest with research faculty. I got needled a little more than usual on the "why this school" angle, presumably because I'm from the Midwest.

Last year OHSU received funding for 5 students; they are still waiting for the NIH check and expect funding for 4 or 5.

They receive 110 applications, interview 30, and accept 10 to 15. Acceptances can go out slow unless you are at the top of their list. Like many smaller places, overenrollment is the dean's worst nightmare.

The interview structure is relaxed, open file, pretty typical. They were mostly 45 minute interviews, which didn't seem to long. 1 MD only & 3-4 MD/PhD interviews with scientists from the MDPHD committee. You also speak with the interim director, though the new director was just hired ~February.
