Im 24 yo and currently receiving my Masters in Public Policy. My father is a MD and mom a nurse so I've always had an interest in health and the sciences but never pursued it after high school cuz I was afraid of 'failing' (Its hard to explain). That said I pursued my other interest...politics and international development.

One day I was contemplating my life and what I'll do next after I graduate. To cut a long story short I decided to get over my fear and pursue Pharm.D because number one I love learning new stuff and the field of pharmacy is always changing esp. with new drugs and what not and I truly love helping others.

Right now, I dont know where to start. I want to work in a pharmacy part time to get some exp. but it seems difficult.......Well I guess Im asking whats the best advise out there for someone like me. I plan to take a couple pre-reqs over the summer such as Calc and bio..as a start.

Thanks! any advise will be appreciated

haha.. I kinda decided to switch to PharmD in the middle of my college years, from Nursing.....

I think what you need to do is to take those pre-reqs and at the same time get some part-time pharmacy experience. Getting certified by the PTCB is also a great way to learn even further working in a pharmacy because certified techs can get the closest experience as to what your career will be as a pharmacist, since they can take in Rxs and transfers... and those things...

Schools don't want to see that you are only dedicated to ur books and nothing else, so I'd suggest doing volunteerings here and there to show them that you can stay involved within your community even with a full-load of classes and some work experience.

Good luck!

State law mandates who can takes transfers, typically only pharmacists and interns can.
