Okay to include * (asterisk) in secondary essay

In my essay I talk about how growing up we faced obstacles XYZ because we didn't have ABC etc. But as an aside I want to point out that now we do have XYZ. Without getting to specific, this is an important distinction but I dont want to interrupt the flow of the paragraph. Can I add an asterisk to the end of that sentence and put a small footnote at the bottom?
Advisors and strangers, please advise!🙂

No, don't do footnotes. You could write later, "Now, although I do now have XYZ, I understand what it is like to not have these things and I want to be an advocate for those who do not." or something like that.

I did footnotes on my primary application..granted it was the W/A section...What is wrong with footnotes?

Secondary applications don't really allow you to format text. It also just seems silly.

Are semi-colons pretentious too? Meh, whatevs. Guess I am pretentious.

Also, yah I will agree with @EmbryonalCarcinoma the secondary doesn’t really allow that kind of formatting.

I don't really think so; however, my college English professor told me that once.

I feel...I feel like this is sarcasm...if Not, then likely not the end of the world. The PS would be a little strange....Also, you be rolling in the II right now, so I say it is not that bad.
