Anyone know what the dress code for Oklahoma is? I did my undergrad at TAMU and here it is business casual, but someone told me that oklahoma's dress code is OSU a polo and jeans?

Oh crap, nobody told me about a dress code...It better have jeans in it somewhere or I'll really go crazy! 😱
 
Haha, same here. Most days I'm in class looking like I just rolled out of bed. 😳

cowgirla...do you mind if I ask about your living situation? I think I read somewhere that you are living in a house. Are you buying or renting? Living alone or with roommates?

I'm planning on buying a house and I have reached that point in my life where I want to live alone, but I was wondering what everyone else was doing.
 
Haha. If they have one, it might fly for about a week, but after that it's hoodies and jeans all the way. No worries, my lovelies - no ties, slacks, OR polos in your future, at least not until clinicals.

I'm renting 🙁

Was planning on buying, had it all worked out, etc but I would have needed to borrow some money from my father for the down payment (to be payed back with the tax return, if I could get it!). And he said "oh well you should rent for a year and get to know the area." Never mind the fact that's its stupid to buy a house for only three years! Hard enough for four lol.

Anyway, renting a house, 2 bedrooms, but no roommates. It's a nice little house, but I was kind of looking forward to having something that was "mine." It's not exactly cost-effective, but I really do best living alone. Well, alone being me and the pup 🙂

and yay for no dress codes! cause dressing up everyday makes dressing up for weekends nooo fun at all. I learn best in old high school AP calculus t-shirts 😎
 
Hey guys, figured I'd give my two cents.

No dresscode, HOWEVER, some professors do feel that there should be. Dr Breazile (1st year phys I) will pretty much have a meltdown if you walk into the classroom with a hat on (even if class isnt in session). He's been known to react by lecturing us or throwing erasers and chalk, so please, for everyones sake, dont wear a hat. He also frowns apon sweat pants and pajama pants.

Polos are needed for clinics, but not until later on.

Cartain classes require white coats starting first year, so stock up before the semester starts.

Should I buy a stethoscope now, along with white coats, or does the school make recomendations on which you should have?
 
Honestly, I had one before school started and have maybe used it twice, so you are fine without one. If you feel like you want one some clubs sell them as a fundraiser with a bunch of options, so you can wait.

Ahh, I just noticed, you're from Mass? I won't be the only New Englander around??

Haha, nope, there is another New Englander from Maine in my class and the year above me has at least 1 person who is from NH

you will be fine. Although Im sure its obvious to everyone where I am from, it hasnt really affected me.
 
Yes I am from Mass, and YES, TT, I AM PROCRASTINATING. 😛 I also told my roomate I would stalk to forum for her while she waits to hear back. Ive been lurking for a couple weeks now 😛
 
Im really not sure who was confused. But SDN is waaaay better than my parasit lab final so c'mon people, support the cause and ask me more questions

Hey everyone,

Due to a lot of things going on in life, its been a while since I've been on or posted on SDN. I just want to tell you all that I got the good fortune of being called off the OkState waitlist today(OOS). While I was shaking and beyond excited on the phone, I sadly had to explain my situation and regretfully decline the offer. This year has been especially difficult on me, as I've had to put down my dog (on chirstmas eve at an emergency center)...similarly, I've had to deal with my sister and mother being diagnosed with cancer( colon and breast respectively) within the past couple months. All this time, i've been trying to balance 20+ credit hours and the emotions of it all. Anyway, to make a very long and complicated story as short as possible, I had to decline my offer because with personal, family, and situational factors( and my own lack of motivation, sadly) I will not be able to complete the animal nutrition requirement by June 1st(although they said I would have to complete it a couple weeks before that date, as the june 1st deadline are when grades have to be received).


Anyway, I just want all of you to know that I hope someone gets my spot. The OkState waitlist is moving!

I am still on the waiting/ alternate list at michigan state, and I was accepted into graduate programs that I was truly interested in. Particularly, a Masters in Cancer Pathology at Roswell Park Cancer Institute ( a cancer research center in my area of upstate NY). I will most likely do this program if michigan state falls through. Good luck to everyone in their future endeavors.

Sounds like you've had a hard go of it lately, but good for you for keeping your head up! Keep following your dreams even if you have to take the back-roads to get there. Also, I'm on the OOS waitlist, so if I get a call in the near future then I owe you big time!

ps-if you end up in grad school, my best bit of advice is to write early and often, because a thesis is a very evil document to write. Good luck!

The last thing that I know of was onehealthDVM's posting. Have you tried calling admissions to see if the class is currently full? Of course the class status could change but it might give you some idea.

I checked about 2 weeks ago and they said they laughed at me for thinking they may be full already. I guess I just need to be patient.🙄

Sadly, I'm OOS. I live here, own a home here and have worked 20 hours/week for the university for 2 years. Still not IS. 🙁 Waiting has become my new hobby. It's a horrible hobby...I do not recommend it.

Lol...waiting is also my new hobby...June will provide much relief either way it goes for me 🙂 Well, that's too bad (the work here, live here part)...I work for the university, too...are you a lab rat?

Well...kind of. I'm getting my MS in Zoology(parasitology), so yes, I'm a lab rat...but for my own project, which makes it a bit better. Where on campus do you work/what do you do?

That's great! Wish I were working on something right now 🙂 ...I am the sr. lab tech in the virology dept. at OADDL...been here for quite awhile...

Thats a cool job. Any positions opening up at OADDL? If I dont ever get the call from admissions, I'm going to need a job...and I seem either underqualified or overqualified for most other jobs on campus.👎

i know what you mean...i think a position might be opening in bacteriology pretty soon...keep an eye out on the job listing site...if you'll have a masters you might be a "little" over qualified...but its a good step if you'll be reapplying next cycle...you'll get to meet a few faculty and whatnot...but, hopefully you'll get that call and wont have to!

lol- done! Some of you already know me/have seen me around campus. I'm a TA for the Zoology dept.
 
I got an email today telling me I am enrolled for vet school! I still can't believe it and I was so excited I just wanted to post on here! The schedule isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. We get a good break everyday! Wednesday we are done by 11 but Fridays are going to suck!

I'd actually rather have days like Friday than like Tuesday and Thursday. My motivation dies once I go home and see my couch...going back to campus will be a struggle some days!

But yeah, schedule's definitely not bad at all. I can handle this 😀
 
you guys should post the schedule to the facebook group so I can know everything too since I'm not enrolled yet and I am TERRIBLY curious! 😀
