Hi,

My state school has said I'd be a stronger applicant if I take science classes to show that I can do coursework, because it's been 4 years since I graduated. They prefer you to take coursework during the school year, as those classes tend to be more rigorous. My question is, if I indicate future coursework on AMCAS, will schools put my application "on hold" until they see my grades? I've got 3.4 science GPA, 3.9 non-science GPA, solid research history (including currently working in research), clinical experience in the peace corps, 30 mcat, 1 publication, lots of community service, very good personal statement.

Part of me thinks that I'll get in SOMEWHERE, maybe not top tier though, and shouldn't risk my application being put in a hold pile til grades come out in January. On the other hand, if I don't take coursework, and schools wonder if I can handle it being 4 years out of school, and pass me over all together, then there's the chance I need to reapply. Or I could not list this work on AMCAS, since I haven't yet taken the work, and report it when I get the grades. Has anyone served on an admissions committee and can advise?

Thanks for all your help! 😕
