I'm just about done with med school and I'm thinking about going into dentistry with the goal of OMFS instead of going through a traditional medical residency. Has anyone out there heard of anyone doing this or is it even possible. If anyone has advice that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your reply, I will do more searching on this topic.

c'mon over to the darkside Chris. It's a long haul but doable.

If you add it all up, it is actually only one more year than the traditional 6yr-OMS. What is one more year in the long run when you are doing what you really love (10yr vs 11yr)?

Not to pry, but I find it interesting that a self proclaimed medical student has so much interest/knowledge in the dental specialty field. Are you someone who is thinking about converting to the dental field?
