is it possible for an international grad to do an OMFS internship in the US?

hi for omfs internship in us if u donot want us license then u can do fellowship under the guidance of doctors here but if u want a us license then u must first take nbde 1 and 2 and complete 2-3yrs advanced standing program
after that u have to apply for omfs residency and after completion of residency only u can become an omf surgeon in us
hope it may clear your doubts

Does this mean that a foreign grad can do an internship in the US if he doesn't wish to obtain a license? If so, can a foreign graduate have a legitimate chance of getting accepted to an OMS residency program under those conditions(not interested in a US licence)? Thanks in advance.

go to new york university's website and read the advanced programs for international dentists so that u get your answer hope it helps

i guess my aim is to get first class us training, then head back to where i am now to work as an omfs specialist here (assuming the us training is recognised here)..

in that case, can i still do the internship (and/or residency) without aiming to get a us license. also, would i need a nbde1 for matching under such circumstances? many thanks..=)

Most of the OMFS residency programs do need a US/Canadian ,DMD/DDS . Other additional requirements generally include US/Canadian citizenship or atleast Perm.Residency status . For a specific program you may want to write to the program or speak with the program director . An internship may be a very valuable experience and a good thing for your residency application , but does not assure a residency the following year . Most of the schools/hospitals would be reluctant to accept residents not licensed to practise in US . Nyu has a program for foreign trained dentists .
gOOD LUCK
