Is it possible to obtain an OMFS internship spot if you are in the middle to lower middle of your class? What's the likelihood of matching after an internship year and then doing well on CBSE?

JPS is fantastic, great exposure and interns have a good history of matching afterwards.

Does the "quality" of the internship matter significantly? Or do all internships hold about the same weight in the CV?

good question. Ideally you want to goto an internship that has a high percentage of matching their interns - Parkland, JPS, LSU -and a place where the attendings are well known (so your letters of recommendation actually mean something).

Internships aren’t also that easy to get into because PD tend to take interns that they feel will have a strong chance in matching next cycle. So take what you can get if you don’t hear back from only 1-2 places.
