Worth applying OMFS w/ non competitive CBSE

Wondering what people think about this. CBSE below 50. Fully aware that I am way below the threshold to match or even interview this cycle. It sucks but it is what it is. I’m fine with doing a Non-Cat and plan to take CBSE as many more times as needed to get >65.

Is it worth it to ask for LORs and spend the $$$ to apply with a non-competitive CBSE score just to have your name out there for non-cat positions? Or will it be no issue to get a non-cat position without applying. Is there a downside to applying with such low score?

Not worth applying. Just do a non-cat and retake. Finding non-cats is not difficult.

Just get LOR for your non-cat application. Meet with your program director at your dental school to let them know of your plans; they should be more than understanding. Look for some non-cats that will help you learn and match. Focus on CBSE now until graduation, and then work your tail off during the non-cat year. It sucks now, but it will only make you stronger for the next cycle. Best of luck
