ROAAOMS does not have resources for residents in a toxic environment and does not provide any support or information for transferring (speaking from experience). I am also wondering what ROAAOMS does as this seems to be a significant issue in our specialty yet is not being addressed at any level. Our medical colleagues have a transfer website (FREIDA). Perhaps ROAAOMS could make one for us since no one at CODA or AAOMS gives a crap about program violations
I’ve actually had a good experience with ROAAOMS and have found them to be supportive, especially when I’ve reached out. They don’t have the answers for everything, CODA ultimately has the most control in these situations, but I do think they’re helpful in trying to find some sort of solution. I do agree, though, that there should be a transfer website like our medical colleagues have.
I'm glad you had a better experience with them this year than I did last year. Please publicly share the helpful info you received from them to help with transparency as these processes are not well known or talked about; I would guess the secrecy is at least partially due to a fear of retaliation before the resident can get out of the program
